    A rarely talked about feature of this unit is that most drive pedals have wet/dry blend aka ‘dumble sound’ ie clean pass through which combined with multiple gain pedals internal AND external parallel clean blending is just a wealth of drive sounds.

    Hi!
    I just got the MS3 a week ago. Played alive with it and loved the sound.
    I would like to know, if I can split two different distortions to two amplis?
    Example:
    Loop 1 - dist1 - amp1
    Loop 2 - dist2 - amp2
    I would like to switch one to another, like in stereo.
    Thanks in advance

    Great idea for a pedal, and I can vouch for their fx engine because I own a gp-10 but I just couldn't justify the money for it. I don't know if I'm getting old or poor or what but you could get so much for the same money.

  • @SuperReverbious
    @SuperReverbious 7 лет назад +2

    Does it suck tone like the Boss GT-100? I wasted 6 months on that thing and then went back to discrete pedals. When you adjust your guitar volume and tone knobs do you get interaction between the guitar and amp or does this device kill that in terms of tone control and gain rolloff with volume knob adjustment? When you change from one amp to another, do all the patches have to be re-adjusted to sound the same?

  • @alexbreyer6921

    1) Does it have the possibility to change the order of the loops like the ES8/ES5 do? if yes, can I route the Fx (even the loops) in parallel/series?
    2) Is the audio path always converted in digital? like if everything is in bypass or I only use the 3 analog loops that I have?

      "4 cable method"? Do you mean stereo? If not, I am intrigued...

    • @cyrfung
      @cyrfung 7 лет назад

      trevor deke bajus Usually 4 cable method refers to going into the pre amp of an amp and going out at the effects loop.
      I think yes the preamp can be in one of the loops of MS-3.

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 6 лет назад

      If your amp has a loop itself you can actually do that. Guitar > MS-3 Input, Amp Input > MS-3 Loop X Send, Amp Loop Send > MS-3 Loop Return, Amp Return > MS-3 Output and a cable for channel switching, the amps preamp sits between the amps input and loop send, the amps loop return goes to the powerstage.
      MS-3 Loop X needs of course always to be included in presets to use the amps preamp.

    I'm sure they just put it in one of the loops for demo purposes, but wouldn't the Blues Driver (or any BOSS pedal) be loaded into the MS-3's 112 onboard effects already?

    • @GregSB1
      @GregSB1 6 лет назад +2

      David LaValley the Blues Driver is available in the effects. I own the MS-3. It’s great, but decisions have to be made. Although you can place up to 9 effects (2 FX, 2 Mod, 3 pedal loops, delay, reverb) in the signal path, you can only turn on/off 4 items at a time. I use mine for modulation, delay, and reverb. I run drive pedals into the MS-3, and I’ve never used the loops.

    • @davidpaul6656
      @davidpaul6656 6 лет назад

      GSBoozer - Oh so you run your drive/distortions straight through the input?

    • @GregSB1
      @GregSB1 6 лет назад

      Yes, I just run them into the MS-3 input and treat the MS-3 as if it were a batch of modulation, delay, and reverb pedals later in the chain. The loops move together; they can't be separated and assigned anywhere you want. All 3 loops run 1-2-3 in order, nothing can be inserted between the loops. Therefore, they work well with your drive pedals because the loops can be moved to the front of the MS-3 effects chain before the other effects, mods, delays, and reverbs. I'm thinking about putting my drives into the loops.

    what a nice piece of gear, but i have a question, i currently have a bias rack unit, im looking foward to buy some effects and that stuff to make it more usable, is it possible to use the midi output to control the channel selector on the bias, and use the ms-3 in a 4 cable way to use a tube screamer i already have in front of the amp and the built in effects on the es3 on the effects loop? so when i play a solo i can step on the preset button and activate the tube screamer suposed to be in front and also the effects?

  • @powelladventures4069

    why does it say you can only connect three pedals? if these are selectable loops/channels can't you chain a dozen pedals to one channel and a dozen to another etc?.. by stepping on the switch in a chain sure all of them would be on but you can still choose to kick off individual pedal.... right? or am I missing something

    • @ProGuitarShopDemos
      @ProGuitarShopDemos  7 лет назад +28

      For simplicity sake, 3 pedals are mentioned (so you can switch them on individually). You can also use them as multi pedal chains, like you mentioned.

    • @TheEthug

      You're missing the point.

    • @sadstatue25

      "but also gives you the option of integrating *up to three *of your personal favorite pedals within the MS-3 circuitry. This implies that it is limited to 3 pedals.

    • @powelladventures4069
      @powelladventures4069 7 лет назад

      agreed... the "up to three" was in there twice and that is in the product posting as well.

    • @ProGuitarShopDemos
      @ProGuitarShopDemos  7 лет назад +6

      If you want to use it for switching individual pedals (the goal of the design), then "up to three" is an accurate statement. That being said, you have the freedom to do what you want!

    Tue MS3 cuts off Delay and Reverb trails when you change presets. There is the curnum function that allows to have only two snapshots/scenes within one preset without cutting trails. But when you change the preset then trails are cut off again. Is there a way to create more than two snapshots (for ex example in manual mode)? Or is manual mode not able to simultaneously turn on and off multiple FX by the mere push of ONE button?

    Great demo as always. Just wondering, if you had a pedal (a TS-808 for example) connected to one of the loops and you created a patch with no internal effects turned on, just the TS808 loop, would the signal path be analog the whole way through the MS-3 or is there still AD-DA conversion going on when internal effects are not in use? Cheers

    I have just one question - is there a way to put the built-in effects in an amp FX loop?

  • @Holtenstein
    @Holtenstein 7 лет назад

    So I get that it loops 3 pedals but is it still missing the key feature all these are missing??? A way to send the time based FX out to the amps FX loop separately! This seems to be like every boss multi pedal before it, Everything into the front of the amp!! Why?

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 6 лет назад

      As I understand it you can insert the loops anywhere you like in the chain so if your amp has a loop itself you can actually do that.

    • @trevordeke
      @trevordeke 7 лет назад +1

      I think you'd be better off in any case finding a DI that you like, and install it last on your board. Not sure your thoughts on multi-effects, but in my experience they usually have one or two good ones, and 50 crappy ones.
      Why pay for a built in DI on this when
      1) you might have one you love already (and I'm guessing you might, since you thought to ask about it)
      or 2) you might not want one, and don't want to pay for it.
      DIs are weird, like anything else. The only one I like that I have tried is the one that is built into my Peterson tuner. I hate if for tuning, oddly.

    • @BuildYourOwnBass
      @BuildYourOwnBass 7 лет назад +1

      you can make one of the ¼ outputs into a DI with a TRS to XLR adaptor cable. That's what "Line Output" means. just turn down the gain all the way on the mixing board :)

    I would rather kick in an extra 600 bucks and get a really good switcher like rjm pbc or g2 and be done with it, just my op but I hate most digital shit. some fx do sound good digital i will admit like delay/reverbs. I tried fractal but went back to my dual amp stereo setup, rjm pbc and some good analog pedals, done!

    • @r.llynch4124
      @r.llynch4124 7 лет назад

      the effects on this thing sound pretty bad. actually most multi fx do imo. you might want to read up on rjm or g2. . some may not need the xtra but i do.I have never heard andy sound this bad before so i think it must be the unit.

    • @thesphericalguy9018
      @thesphericalguy9018 7 лет назад

      You simply can't compare this with a G2/PBC, totally different price points and products. This is meant for beginners looking to build their first somewhat complex system, or maybe pros wanting a fly rig. What people also forget is that when you buy a big switcher you either have to solder your own cables (a lot of them), or buy expensive kits adding further costs. I've gone down that route and ended up with a huge board that I dread to carry anywhere. I'm ready to give this a go, as long as the delays/reverbs sounds good I'm in

    • @r.llynch4124
      @r.llynch4124 7 лет назад

      I would never compare this to those and I doubt a pro flying in for a gig would show up with one of these..lol If I were you I would wait a few months, ebay will be flooded with them for half price.

    I have a question I just got my ms3 I haven't had time yet to set it up but I use a peavey 6505mh and I use the dirty channel most of the time with a maxonod808 as a boost OK so sometimes I like to kick on a delay for lead stuff but it has to be in my fx loop or it sounds like crap. I wanna know is there a way to set certain fx in the effects loop of my amp or does this only output to the preamp? I know I should just wait till I get home and fiddle around with it but I'd hate to waste a bunch of time to find out it won't work like that

    • @lDNASTYl
      @lDNASTYl 7 лет назад

      so yeah this only outputs to the preamp if you use a high gain amp you will still have to engage your effects in your power amp section individually

    • @lDNASTYl
      @lDNASTYl 7 лет назад

      but it's still worth every penny don't get me wrong but I was originally just looking for a loop switcher like the joyo pxl live something that could switch amp channels and engage certain effects with the press of a button but bc of how this is a effects processor you can't run time based effects into it if you plan on using your high gain amp channel for your dirty tones which is very dissapointing for me but for most ppl that won't matter

    • @lDNASTYl
      @lDNASTYl 7 лет назад

      OK so I just had an idea I wish I was home to test it out but what if I ran this whole system thru my effects loop what's the difference if it gets its signal from my guitar or the amp I hope it works... if it does work I'll be a very happy camper bc I'm mainly using it for its time based effects and switching capabilities so in theory it should work sorry for working this out on your video lmfao

    I can't find a single video where this thing sounds good, but the NUX cerebus does seem to sound good... is it just me?

      I'm sure it does its job... An advanced looper/switcher is fine for a pedalboard but I really don't need the digital effects...Although, it might sound good through my FRFR speaker.

      you have the es5 for pure switching, the effects are simply extras on this

      @funkyfurballs1078 7 лет назад

      Yes, I see the value in that but its still kind of big on a pedalboard.

    Anyone thinking of selling their soul to the Devil for guitar skills is getting ripped off. Sell it to Andy instead.

      13brenno13 Kind of a pointless reply. Reverb, delay, boost, phaser etc. are useless effects? If you've got the cash for boutique stand alone pedals, more power to you. Most of the rest of us don't.

    Kinda redundant. It would be better if it was a 2 or 3 channel looper with midi and the typical es5/8 functions in a smaller footprint without the digital effects. It would cost less too(I'm sure it's expensive). Example : connect an H9 and a Brothers to a small switcher like this and you have endless possibilities in a small package.

      it's pretty small as is. I don't think removing the effects would make it any smaller. I think it's a cool idea..put your dirt pedals in the loop because those are harder to emulate digitally. Then use the built in mod/delay/reverb effects for the rest. then you can set up complex presets with more than 3 effects at a time, all with a pretty small pedalboard

      @MrRich6505 7 лет назад

      lose3111 I said removing the digital effects would make it cheaper not smaller. For the record I never said it wasn't cool but it's really similar to the es5 (without the built in effects).

      H9 is awesome but costs more than the MS-3 which streets @ $399 in the US.

      Boss has long had these effects programmed. It's added value for them to include on what is essentially them paying for the hardware and manufactured unit. I think it's a pretty unique offering because if you have midi effects you really have TONS of options and you can built setlists well in advance.
