    Props to you for sharing your story. It takes strength to be vulnerable and this will certainly help other men going through similar issues. Prioritize your recovery and don't worry too much about making content. Cheers!

      Thank you, I appreciate it. I've prioritized it for a few months now and am doing better. Finally got some good news for the first time in months which helps. Now I need to get back at it for some normalness. That was part of my goal was to get others to speak up, men or women, but especially men because we never do

    As someone who comes to this channel for woodworking, this is the last thing I expected to see. As men, we're kind of taught to "man up". But I think opening up like this is the manliest way to go about it. I'm sorry to hear everything you've gone through. Please keep pushing forward, life is like woodworking, there'll be imperfections, but there's always a way to fix them and make it workout in the end.

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, I'm sure it's the last thing many people thought to see. But it's that exact stigma that made me make this video, because I was at a breaking point and being told that never fixed or made anything better. It wasn't fun to relive it again, took me 5 hours just to film that 18 min video, but I think it was worth it. I'm pushing ahead and have finally received the first bit of good news in 5 months which helps a ton. I like that analogy, it's pretty true. Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it. Take care

Hopefully everybody who speaks up or is having a tough time can look forward to a better season. Thanks for reaching out! Take care

    Divorced twice, homeless for about 6 months, lost my kids for a few months. Nothing like sleeping at a Walmart parking lot. Long story short but keep 1 thing in your mind that is so positive that you can’t let it go no matter what. My positive thing was I wasn’t going let my kids grow old without their dad. Years later and I’m doing pretty good. Keep your head up

      Ooof, sorry to hear that. We'll if it wasn't for a family member I may have ended up homeless for a bit. A roof over my head right now I about all I have, but I'm not complaining about that because it's more than some have. I'm glad to hear that you're doing better now tho. It takes a strong person and a strong mind to get through that and come out the other side, so good on ya 👊 Thanks for reaching out and take care of yourself

    Jesse I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I cant say how much of a difference you made in people's lives around the world through your thoughtful videos explaning the art of woodworking because its immeasurable. I'm from the Caribbean. My island is very small and its far from Canada but even from here, I can tell you are a good person just from the friendly approachable vibe you generate in your videos. That door may have closed but only for you to see another open in the future with greater things to come your way!

    Sorry to hear about all the troubles of 2023. Well it’s a new year so good luck. Your shed build series really really helped me learn not just to build a shed but squaring, plumbing and true builds. Thanks for the clear informative info. You are a great teacher and it’s a gift. Don’t forget when god shuts a door, there’s a window opened and sometimes more……

      Thanks. I know everybody has things they go through, I just wanted to let everybody know that struggles happen to us all and that it's OK. I'm super happy that you built it, that's awesome! I think that's the best thing about building a shed that I never spoke about is all the things you learn while doing it. I love teaching and helping so hopefully this year gives me the chance now to expand and do even more. I've finally received 2 bits of good news so hopefully soon I'll be back at it in my own place again. Thanks for reaching out

    Jesse, I just discovered your channel because I want to build a shed. I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I have crushed 3 vertebrae and it has been hell. The additional strain of the relationship breakup was clearly truly traumatizing. I also know that one day, you will find a partner who won't care about your medical issues and help you know that you are in no way less a man. Thanks for all you do! I've never built anything before, but your instructions are so clear and helpful, so I think I can. Here's a hug for you, Jesse. Keep on being you.

    Jesse sorry to hear you have been facing difficulties my friend . You are brave and courageous for sharing your story. Your situation is not your choice- as hard as it is, be kind on yourself. The fact that you can’t have children does not make you less of a man. You are not a failure and can still use your masculinity in other positive ways. Try and keep your focus on your blessings, and plough your energy into things that give you joy- it will both take your mind off the struggle and renew your focus. Life has many chapters, some of which are very challenging. Stay hopeful that other new exciting chapters will unfold. Praying for you and the ease of your suffering. Chin up my man..

    Hi Jesse, It's so difficult. I also cannot make babies (I am femaie). Hard to know. Divorced now for 5 years. I did find a great therapist. It will get better for you. There is hope. It will take time. But you will be okay. You won't be the same, but you will be okay. Thank you for sharing, it is very unusual for men to talk about anything. It takes courage. And for the record, when it comes to being a human being, there is nothing "wrong" with you. Start telling yourself that because it is true. It takes time to believe it but it is true. We don't ask for how we get put together. But being put together differently, doesn't make you "less than". It is just part of who you are, and when you accept yourself, you will be better for yourself, and your future life partner, (if you want still want one). Maybe a woman with kids of her own, on her own?

      Hi. I'm sorry to hear that, it is very difficult and something that most people won't understand. Male or female doesn't make it easier, is a gut wrenching thing to be told. I'm working though it, have been for awhile now and it's getting better for me. I wanted to open up because exactly that, most men hold it in, like I did and it crushes them from the inside out, usually negatively. That's a good way to put that, I haven't thought about it quite like that but I like it. This is who I am and I'm allowed to be happy regardless of it...thank you! I do still want a partner, hell I probably need a good woman in my life lol I appreciate you reaching out. Good luck and take care of yourself too, you've made me feel better and you deserve good things as well.

It has been 12 years and the hole is still in my heart that was created that cold day in January of 2012. Thanks man, appreciate it. I know we all have some problems, sorry to hear about yours, but I wanted to put this out there because I know many struggle with them. I've definitely had some hard times, but if I could offer some advise...even if you don't necessarily "believe" in therapy, it definately helps to just talk it all out and get it out of your system, lay it all on the table. There will be tears but after a few months of it, it was helping and I've definitely had a couple moments where something just clicked, things were associated that I've never thought about before and it's amazing how much better that felt. Also, just know that you're worth it. I know it sounds lame, but it helped me to know that I deserve to be happy regardless of not being able to have kids, and if the person I'm with can't see that, I still deserve to be happy. And so do you. Nothing can be so wrong that coming out the other side with a positive view isn't an option. It's hard, but it's true. Take care of yourself and thanks for reaching out 👊

    I suffered a spinal injury in the first week of June. Hands down thr most painful experience of my life. I herniated 2 discs in my neck, C5 & C6. I was working on my Best Friend's motorcycle and must have tweaked it just wrong. Ive had multiple car wrecks so the theory is I triggered my whiplash weak points and pissed it all off.
    I'm also Polyamorous, if you know what that is great, if not the TLDR is i have multiple partners and its all very consensual. My two Wives and my Girlfriend has been with abother Girl for five years, last year she split with us. Its been an absolutely soul crushing breakup. I cannae even imagine if it were 12. Im so sorry honey.
    2023 was the worst year in my memory for me and mine. I see you, stay safe.

I believe you don't appreciate and know the good times until you hit that bad one!! You make it through, learn, and be a smarter and better person. If she left you for the reason his wife left him, wait, you have kids, whatever the reason, she's a terrible person for that. I'm a woman and never had kids, sterile. Found your channel today and watched 3 videos and bought the plans for your chair. So sorry to here. This news. It really is just as bad for a woman. I never had kids, I'm sterile. But i know GOD had a reason and a Purpose for this. HE said so in Ecclesiasties 3:1-11. If she left you for the reason i think she did, she did not love you unconditionally! Just like I was not loved unconditionally!!! I know this is 4 months old, your getting ready for some painful surgery. But at least you can have surgery which is a positive thing. I hurt my back years ago in the service. I've had cronic pain that I could live with 7ntil 5he end of Jan 2024. I've been down with my Rt Sciatic Nerve sinces. This pain is not muscle. Oh know, i can't put a boot or brace on it. I hurt from my Arse to my Ankle. Im pretty much been bed, couch or chair, mainly the 1st two since January! Do you know how useless i feel. But i go take my Mom to all her Doctor Appts and i go to mine. The VA in the US is a disaster! I'm finally going for Physical Therapy on Wednesday. I told my Dr months ago to take the nerve out and my leg off!!! That's how bad the pain is. So cheer up, yours and mine will get better!!! I'm really sorry your hurting. Try group counseling with men and women together. I tried it a couple of times for a differenti ssue, and I really learned a lot, from the guys perspective. ✝️🙏❤🇺🇸

I can't imagine what you're going through. I'm grateful mine can be fixed, I never meant to sound like I wasn't, just letting people know why I might be gone for awhile. We stopped as well, it's hard to make that choice. I can understand that, because I believe that's where I was headed. Men especially don't deal with things correctly or talk about them which is why I wanted to share what I did. I'm so glad I could help you out in that at least, it's a small thing but you learn so much while building a shed so enjoy it. I appreciate it. Take care of yourselves as well. And see if he will open up, and if he wants to, I'll throw my hat in if he wants to speak directly to me on the phone, I can understand what he is dealing with. We all deserve to be happy no matter what life throws at us. Take care

    Many parents abandoned their children. Many fathers doesn’t support or love their children. There are people who can’t have children….. doesn’t mean you can’t be a father. A responsible, loving and supportive person to a child makes a great father…. many children needed a father, doesnt need to be your own blood.

      That's true, and it's something I'm open to now. But it took awhile to come around to that mentality after being told I couldn't have kids of my own and after the IVF failed. Really takes the wind out of your sails. Unfortunately now the relationship has ended and it's too little too late for us. But maybe I will either by myself or with a new partner in the future, we will see what happens

    I just seen your foundation clip for the 1st time today, then the walls,then this.... i just had to hit you up on this one after hearing it my man, 1. its all about YOU brother, You came in single and your going to leave single so take care of YOU first.
    2. I seen that Alaskan husky in your first clip and mite i say "Dogs are man's best friends,they will never leave your side" 3. Your a youngman, you have a lot of time left, that house will show up if your focus is on it with no distractions.
    My 2 cents is... this world is messed up and its hard to just focus on yourself vs having 2/3/4 more mouth to feed... but there always adoption (plus they pay) and helps a kid to have a real dad like yourself to show them the ropes.
    Keep your head UP brother...its all we can do!!

    Hey Jesse, firstly thank you for the DIY videos! They've been very helpful!! Secondly, I have the same issue as you...couldn't have kids naturally and found out when I was 28 years old when my (then-now ex) wife and I were struggling to have kids. Same story as yours...she was checked out first and then me...and of course I was the problem. We were lucky though in that we did have not one but two kids together with the help of the infertility specialist.......... That was 39 years ago. I wish I could say it was a happy ending here but the truth is 6 years ago my wife asked for a divorce and I have two sons who don't want anything to do with me now because they think the breakup is all my fault (so I haven't seen or heard from them for 6 years). I won't go into details because I don't want to sound like I'm trying to defend myself but what I would like to do is offer you some advice.........Find someone who will accept you for who YOU are...someone who is willing to go through life with YOU no matter what. It's hard to find someone like that, trust me, I know. There's a reason that 50% of all marriages end in divorce, but on the flip side, there are reasons that 50% stay married. I do believe in marriage but it's finding the right person that is so very hard. God bless, hang in there and love yourself too!!

    I have been where you are at 24 years old. It is hell to go through finding out you can’t have children and divorced. I am now 64 years old remarried 6 years ago. No kids. Married a man with no kids. Omg we are so happy to have found each other and grow old together. I do have 5 nieces and nephews who I spent a lot of time and energy with. They still come to hang out with me and have told me how I had a big influence on their lives. If you don’t have children in your family join big brothers and mentor a young man. It really helps. Jesse I am so very sorry to hear that you went through this. It saddens me to hear that you have been robbed of having children and I agree with you. There are people out there that do not deserve to have children, yet there are good, decent people out there like yourself that would make wonderful parents. Life just sucks sometimes, and even though it might not seem like it, things will get better, other aspects in your life will improve and you overall will come out on top. I appreciate your thoughts tho. Well I would love to build one because I feel like there is lots I would show, but unfortunately I can only show what I have access to as I'm not a very big channel relatively speaking. When I finally get my new place I'm fairly certain it's going to need a fence as it'll be an older property, but I'm also still in the dead of winter and won't be able to until at least me for the ground to thaw out. Thanks for reaching out and good luck on your fence!

    You are in a very distressed state, and talking about it eases and gives perspective. We all live in expectation, and that's the pressure. Unfortunately, the ancient adage "time is a great healer" probably applies, cold comfort at present obviously, but I read here a lot of thoughtful comments and support. I like your bookcase design, better than others and in metric too, thanks

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it hasn't been easy but talking about it has made it better. I've made a bunch realizations about myself.
