Thanks for this clip... It was very helpful.. my friend stuck with problem like this, and after I watched this video, it was very easy to open the car hood... Thanks again..
had this issue when car went for MOT and the garage couldnt open it and gave it back to me. quick youtube and youve got me sorted! thanks, i should show the garage this!
Thanks a lot, i was able to open the bonnet! It did not open because of dirt. Nothing wrong with the cable and spring. I cleaned everything with penetrating fluid, and now its like New again. 💯
Top stuff!! it also works for a Vauxhall Zafira B with a slight twist - it's much easier to go through the front grill as the front crossmember is angled down at the front. Grab a good torch and look through the front grill just to the right side of the badge and you can literally see the spring. It became a 20 second job. Thanks mrfid72!!
Cheers mt replaced radiator yesterday got up for work this morning 4:30 just to check water couldn't get in the bonnet it literally took me ten mins saved the morning thanks
I managed to open my bonnet =,when the plunger was stuck on the latch, luckily. Having pulled the bonnet release lever in the car, I drove one front-wheel up a regular DIY car-ramp, and then the bonnet magically released. I guess the small deflection and twist of the car was enough to move the latch one way and the bonnet the other way to release the snagged plunger. Thanks for your video. I've now greased all the mechanisms and latch surfaces there including between the bonnet plunger and plunger spring above.
@@KebsikMieszany I prayed open the bonnet enough with a claw hammer, then flicked the locked opening the bonnet then I hooked a car battery to it & unlocked ….. it locked me out again so I smashed the window 😂😂😂😂
Hello, thank you very much for your information, which is very useful for my hood, which was blocked by a broken cable this morning. Best wishes 2024 health happiness. Leonidas
Does it also work if cable is not broken? I explain my self… i need to open the hood but can’t enter the car because the battery is flat, even the manual key can’t open it. So i need to open the hood to get access to the battery
If this doesn't work: My Astra H had a similar problem, the bonnet-release cable and leaver was fine, but the spring and bolt on the bonnet itself was twisted slightly. If it's twisted/loosened over time and the little grooves aren't in the right place it won't release when you walk around to pull the leaver. Use a mate or strap to pull the bonnet release leaver in the cabin as far as it will go, then open the bonnet normally, then, twist the bonnet spring+bolt to make it a bit tighter and make sure the grooves are in the right place.
Thank you was fanny around for about 20 mins then it took me that long to think youtube some one must of put a video up about this and there it was this video easy and I didn't even need to metal stick just pushed the spring with me thumb soon as it moves you see it moves in the circle hole next to the spring then see if move then pull out the wd40 spray it then try job done nice one for sharing this video did help
mrfid72 it actually worked mate, my cousin is a mechanic and I showed him this video and he made the tool and with in a few minutes he had it open, he was also very impressed with the trick as he told me he has struggled in the past trying to open bonnet latches
Hi mate! thank you for this.. i have unlock the bonnet but the thing is my cable is ok the only thing is so loose.. where can i find find the screw to adjust it? thank you!!
The cable clamp is at the back of the front, behind the square hole. It just clamps the outer cable cover so make sure when you adjust it that it still works (before you shut the bonnet)
i dont know if there is an actual tool for this job, you should be able to get an aluminium strip from metal merchant, 25mm wide about 1.5 - 2 mm thick and about 400mm long.
@@mrfid72 i dont quite no what you mean but i can feel the resistance of the spring and i push it back till it stops then push it alitle and seems to ping off
@@mrfid72 my battery has gone flat so central lock dont work and for some reason i have 2 keys and non will open drivers door if you have any idea about that?
@@mrfid72 I had lifted the bonnet with a forklift, because I thought it was jammed, as in your instance. However I had to use the technique to open it up.

Update. It worked. Once I'd found something thin to push the spring it took me about 1 min. Now I can put some anti-freeze in the rad. Thanks v much.

You and Thomas just saved me probably about 50-60 quid. Nice one fellas!

i can now get in. thank you. next problem, i can't figure out how to tighten the cable lol
This was realy helpfull. Thanks. 2 tries and i opened the bonnet with a steel ruler.

yes, it should work. My cable wasn't broke, i just hit a deer and bent the front a bit...
Your key should work in the door though?
Brilliant, I used an aluminium carpet tread. Slight mod on it and job done. Great video, thanks.

Thank You/Köszönöm!
Great video guys, took me a while though, i think my steel was a bit too thick, that's my story and I'm sticking to it 😂😂
Sometimes its all about the technique!
Do you think this would work with a vauxhall combo. My hood latch and wire is screwed and the battery died
thank you friend it helps me a lot
Great stuff! This helped me big time!
I was wondering sneaking a steel coat hanger hook around the hook and pulling it back or is the hook rigid cheers
You need to push the spring forward to unlatch it.
Tengo el mismo problema con el capot de mi Astra h cdti GTC 😭😭😭😭
thank you, your a gentleman
Will this work on a combo cords van 2011?
No idea to be honest, i would try and find pictures on line to see if its the same type of catch?

have 07 corsa deadlocked out and battery is dead will this work also is this only if the cable is broken as mine is fine
Honest answer is i don't know, this method releases the spring end holding the catch down so it can be used regardless of whether the cable is broke.
