I've never heard abt using foil either. I just do what my mom used to do-wrap the whole bunch in a damp paper towel and wrap tightly in any plastic bag. It worked for her,...and us. Thanks for those tips!!
@@chainamarie03 Thank you watching and for sharing the method that works best for you. Do you have to re wet the paper towel at any point or does it stay damp until the celery is gone?
Jeezus just cut it into 4inch length and put it in Tupperware with enough water to cover it and add a bit of salt . Put the lid on and it will stay crisp for six weeks. Change the water every two weeks. YW
Curious. Never liked celery as a kid . I can thank BWW for the carrot and celery boats that used to come free with chicken wings Good respite between especially hot wings (to me anyway), But as for the way, I've stored celery at home from the store was cut off the brown and yellow bits put in a Tupperware container with water shake it a bit, drain most of the water and reseal the container. Then, every couple of days, I'd repeat that. They used to last almost 2 weeks.
Celery and peanut butter is a great snack. It has a lot of fiber because of the green nutrients similar to a healthy salad. also, if , !! you can make your own peanut butter, That is even better. a
Thank you very much for these! I have been wanting to use Celery in my soups and assumed my method of storage was to blame for my quickly wilted stalks :D This should help my future Celery endeavors, YaY! How long Per Stage of storage does the Celery last? Your pinned comment says 'Weeks' which sounds fantastic but do you have specific timeframes? example, up to 4 weeks in Aluminum foil, Loose stalks 2 weeks with Paper towel, Limp up to 1 week? Either way thank you so much for this video!!
For me, the celery lasts for 3-4 weeks in aluminum foil. Loose stalks are good for a couple days and if its limp and revived in water, it's usually good for another 3-5 days.
Storing it in aluminum foil sounds all well and good, but I have a small refrigerator and don't have space to just keep a head of celery. Is there no way to store cut celery long term?
Just make sure the produce is dry before storing it. If you have a foil zip bag then I say try that method and see if it works for you. Thank you for watching!
I tend to use one full stalk at a time unless I need a lot for a recipe like cream of celery soup. Then I cut across the whole head of it and work my way down
There is a reason there is a shiny and dull side to foil. ALWAYS put the dull side toward your food. This keeps any chemicals in the foil from touching your foods.
No that is wrong. The difference is because of how it comes off the roll when being made. When in contact with something like the roller it is dull. When not in contact with anything it is shiny. Please look it up. Reynolds explains it. I never knew anything about the difference of foil. Someone asked me one time and I had no idea. So I thought it was something old timers knew. Then I saw a chef say(chef, Jean Pierre) there is no difference. It is how it is made. So I looked it up and yes it is how it is made. And besides I never heard it had to do with chemicals release, I heard it had to do with something about how the heat was reflected or held in. But NO there is not a reason for dull or shiny side of foil except how it is made.
Using these 3 easy tips will keep celery fresh for weeks!
Can you wash the celery first?
I would just make sure it's completely dry after washing it before wrapping it up@@clinece
thank you for some really good tips - I didn't know about storing the celery in foil, so that will be my first go to now.
It eventually goes limp if it’s not used but it lasts for weeks in foil. I rarely have to throw any away since I stated using foil
@@SavorySaver I'm all for learning better ways to store food that I will be able to use rather than throw in the compost - so once again thank you,
@@Lynne-G I couldn't agree more!
Good video! This was the only one which addressed whole clumps, separate chunks and … older celery. Thanks for sharing!

Wash in salted water to remove any spray the growers use. Keep it in a food saver bag air removed mine lasts for weeks unless I've eaten it.
Thank you for watching and sharing you tips for how you clean and keep your celery Helen!
Or buy organic then you don't have to worry about spraying.
Do you cut off the ends? I noticed you didn't but other "tips" indicate you should. Thanks.
I don’t cut off the ends on mine. If you buy a head of it and the tips are wilty it may not hurt to trim them off though
Storing it in aluminum foil sounds all well and good, but I have a small refrigerator and don't have space to just keep a head of celery. Is there no way to store cut celery long term?
Try cutting the celery head into smaller sticks before wrapping it in aluminum foil to save in space. Thank you for watching. I hope this helps.
Do you wrap the foil tightly or loosely? If tight, how does the gas escape ?
I was wandering the same thing??? No answer???
@@olgavarela3647 i have been doing it tight and it seems to work. I also remove the leaves.
what about vaccum sealing them in a plastic bag ? will that make them last longer ?
Vaccuum sealing may help as well. I like the aluminum foil because I don't have to keep opening and resealing the bag. Thank you for watching.
Is it okay to watch the lettuce before wrapping it up and foil. How about a foil zip bag to save money on foil

How do you use some at a time. Do u cut from the top and work down or take 1 stalk at a time

Can you wash celery before placing in the foil?
I don't see why not. I would just make sure it's dry before wrapping it up
Is it healthy though to put it in foil .. I thought aluminum is bad for you?
That's what I thought... surely using foil just goes against "being healthy" due to the Aluminium exposure?
Exactly
My concern as well. How dangerous is it to use aluminum foil to wrap our vegetables?
Not dangerous at all the foil is a very safe way to keep food.
Aluminium is only dangerous if you ingest it.
So no snacking on foil.
So you don’t wash it 1st❓
I wash my celery before using it instead of before storing it. Wash it using whichever way works best for you. Thank you for watching!
I like the idea my girlfriend does it. I that's a little assett on that but if you say so okay😊
