  • I’ll admit putting potato chips in chocolate chip cookies sounds a little crazy, but man does it work incredibly well! The texture is something you really do have to experience for yourself, since I find it almost impossible to describe. The potato chips don’t stay crispy, but they do stay sort of crunchy, which makes these one of the most delicious, and additive cookies I’ve every eaten. Enjoy!

I tried to make these. My grandson called and asked what I was doing. I told ruining Chef John's cookies. He laughed at me. Told me how could I ruin them, they're easy. Yeah, unless I want them to be nice. So, since we never let the food win, I made up another batch but backed the heat down to 350 and baked them in a 9x9 pan. They turned out great. My grandson look at the first ones and started laughing like it was best comedy ever.
So happy Christmas John and Michelle.
    Thank you for the recipes.

I've always made cheesecake (3 lb. cream cheese) by hand with a fork or slotted spoon and spatula for scraping the bowl. Not hard at all but takes more time. Don't let lack of a mixer stop you from baking.

I did dalgona by hand one time and it took forever. It's mostly just time compensating for how fast you can mix.

It is a well-known sort-of fact that hand-mixing your desserts burns enough calories to offset less than 1/10 of a serving of dessert. But it does make you feel better and it will maybe burn up to 10 calories if you work hard enough.

As my late dad says; it's the sweet/ salty thing going on is what makes them good.

My aunt used to make these around the holidays every year. She's been gone now since 2005 but this video instantly reminded me of her. I'm not much of a sweet and salty person but there's definitely something magical about a potato chip cookie, and hundreds of them cooling on every surface available in the house. :)

Just cranked out a batch for Santa with my 2 kids and they turned out fantastic! It's a brilliant recipe - the chips add a lot: crispy, slightly chewier, a mysteriously delightful savory and salty combination... one thing that I can't really sense in them is any potato flavor at all. I'd probably never guess what the secret ingredient was if I was blindfolded.
Now I just have to make them last 6 more days so Santa can actually get one 😅

Does not thin as fast (cold temp keeps middle firmer while outside cooks and sets). So you get a little more density and volume in middle.

So in the 80's, my family made a lot of these with Rice Krispies. I assume it was to make the dough go further (they were pretty good but not as good as a regular chocolate chip cookie). I'm definitely going to try this. Not holding back on the chocolate however. That's just me baking!
