Oh if we all had the use of a vehicle lift... I've never come across a ball joint that "falls" out of its taper like that.. this guy must be blessed..lol I'm just about to replace these arms on My M5... can't see me doing each side in 10 mins though..

doesn't the strut arm have to be pried up and out of the way to get ball joint to clear??

What exact year and model of E60 is this BMW? My E60's front thrust control arms does not have ball joint spindle's attached. So clearly this E60 is not the exact same vehicle as my E60 which is a 528xi (North American)

Thank you for your feedback! Our car 2005 release. The suspension design depends on the configuration of the car and the engine that is installed there. To select the necessary spare part, we recommend contacting our support team, where we will look through the catalog your car strictly according to VIN.
      Best Regards,
      Autodoc Team!

My car (2008 535xi) apparently has a ball joint that is separate from the control arm which I believe is hard to remove. Any insight on this would be appreciated?

It was hopeless to even try to twist the 22mm nut on the ball joint end in order to release it; they were "welded" (corrosion) together after so many years. Fortunately, there is enough space for an electric angle grinder, with which I cut off a part of the nut. Then I hit the remaining piece with a hammer and so it dropped down.

    No torque wrench?

You are absolutely right. All the main bolt connections must be tightened with a torque wrench. This video is considered to be an informative one, so it just shows the sequence of repairs. Best regards, Autodoc.
