      @@TheSleepingonitnah so the lore is hoovie who’s tyler Hoover started an automotive channel about the worst cars and documenting him buying them and how some cars are really bad to buy used bmw being one of them. The wizard was his mechanic on Tyler’s channel who fixed all his cars since pretty much the beginning of Tyler’s channel and their dynamic became iconic instantly. After a few years of success and racking up literal hundreds of thousands of views wizard decided to make his own channel to inform people about which cars are good and not and share that big beard of knowledge with us along with what goes on in his shop. Since then both of their channels have just been growing exponentially and I’m glad for them both there great guys. To anwser your question Hoovie is actually brilliant, so he will buy the bad car to post a video about and dump money into them but he always comes out ahead with the RUclips revenue among having other sources of income it’s all worth it in the end. You’d be shocked how much money a RUclips video can make so while it is the dumbest automotive channel in all of RUclips and he’s most definitely taken losses over the years he usually comes out ahead.

    Not sure about Kansas but in California the honest above board experienced repair dealer starts with a signed repair order with customer identification, license or VIN # , beginning estimate and an odometer reading. If the car comes in after hours you get a signed drop envelope with permission to spend up to and as much identification as you can get. That protects the customer as much as the shop, but without it the customer can come with a spare key and take his property (the car) anytime without paying a cent. Sure you fudge an hour or two if you’re slow but getting any deeper than you’re willing to lose is a “shame on me” situation. If done properly the shop has a legal binding contract that the customer must pay and the customer has control over how much they’ve committed to the repair. Anything less for any reason is a first step towards trouble. But yeah, the customer who thinks you know immediately what’s wrong by walking up to the car is one to avoid. Working with someone like that will help you a bad service provider.

      Try a few scrap yards and look for a car that was in a crash. Years ago we salvaged an engine with just over 20,000 miles on it from a car involved in a front end collision. A salvaged ECU could outlast the car and you shouldn't need to pay new prices.

    One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was buying a used VW Tiguan. Things that you take for granted in any other vehicle will give you a lesson in a VW. Right now it needs a Cat. converter among other things. But the repair would cost me more than what the car is worth. A nice looking car, garage kept, is almost ready to go to the junk yard. German over engineering.

    • @andresboza8285
      @andresboza8285 Год назад +1

      I am in the same situation. My 2009 Tiguan has been in the workshop for over a year! So many issues with the 4motion system! German manegement decided to cut corners by installing a lot of crappy plastic parts, like the water pump. I have replaced it twice so far.

    • @iTrinityPlays
      @iTrinityPlays Год назад

      Well if you don't live in a a state with crazy restricted emissions testing. Then it's time to go catless on it, with an 02 bungle spacer, so the car things it's reading a cat still. Or go aftermarket High-flow Cel downpipes if you still want to retain cats, since it is just a Tiguan.
      But unfortunately this isn't even a VW issue. It's just a previous owner issue. Good chance the previous owner beat on it when the car was cold, or just let sparks and coils go way too long on it, and it killed the cat because of it.
      And if none of those options work for you, you can always just make some room and part it out! Engine and DSG gearbox is worth easily $2500+ by itself.

    So strange, the car is obviously decently maintained (at least from a mechanical perspective, my guess is they live on a gravel/dirt road which is why the exterior is a mess) so my first assumption isn't that it's some wacko who will pop up and be all peeved their car isn't fixed. Probably just thought they left the paper in the car or in the glovebox or something and accidentally left it in their pocket or their ride's car. Hopefully the mystery clears up soon! Happy Thanksgiving as well!
