    Great report, loved the fact that you included footnotes and acknowledged that this kind of fountain of youth topic is terribly liable to get hyped by those who desire to live longer and those who, recognizing a promising market, sell substances to serve ppl's hopes and dreams. Apropos, the footnotes pro's admonition that this field nonetheless deserves our enthusiastic interest was also most welcome. Thank you again! Deserves waaaay more views, omg.

    I so love the light-hearted, but still scientific, way of this feature. Often, controversial research fields like aging are presented too "seriously" always with dramatic tones in sound effects and narration. Science journalists learn from this take! Science is self-correcting because of the rigorous nature of selection and competition in science publishing. We should be highlighting more of the published works in top or prestigious journals with many footnotes as so done here.

    I have been watching Dr. Sinclair's interview and this is the best so far. Very informative conversation. His book is also very educative. I love that book. In there, there's no point increasing lifespan without health span. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. I hate aging and the illnesses it brings over time. This is why I am now taking NMN supplement by Vitruvin constantly.

      I love Dr. Sinclair too! I owe him the experience I am enjoying now just by taking NMN. I've seen many popluar NMN brands in the market but only few are proven effective. My parents switched to Vitruvin as well after figuring out that I had the most effective results more than the brand they're using...

    Hope Dr. David Sinclair followed by his team of scientist can succeeding in reversing aging as fast as they can. The good reasons in eliminating this dangerous disease is because think about our grand parents passing away due to their biological aging not only it destroys our health and well-being assets therefore it also made their grown up or adult children cannot have a both happy and exciting life seeing their parents encountering this unwanted scenario. Likewise, why cannot for example all of the family members each not retire and working together to fight their way for a beautiful and happy life with permanence!?

    As a side effect of cancer treatments I am going through reverse aging. I was bald and gray and wrinkled, now my hair is dark and thick and I have a full head of hair. My skin is smooth now. My pulse and BP are perfect, as are my numbers for everything, like an 18 year old athlete. I just have stage 4 cancer. No one is interested in anything that is real, only what is nonsense.

      @jdlc903 5 лет назад

      What was the anti vancer treatment you have been taking?

    • @krnewman
      @krnewman 5 лет назад

      Jdlc surgery, radiation and chemo. But more important than that even is the issue of imaging, finding the cancer to zap, rather than just zapping where you think and hope it is. In my case a PMSA PET scan found a couple of hotspots in unexpected places which we zapped hard along with the the usual areas. It looks like that did the trick. To deal with side effects of radiation I use lots of CBD infused into coconut oil, both seem to work well. I stayed sane through the 2 year adventure by drinking kava. My latest results last week showed no signs of any of my cancers. It can always come back but it looks pretty good. I’m still stage IV but Stage IVa, which means I can live a lot longer maybe. I’m BRCA2. For the metastatic prostate cancer I am on the Stampede protocol, radiation plus zytiga (abiraterone acetate) plus prednisone. I take that chemo every day, for the past year and for the next two or three, possibly forever. Costs $10k/month tho. My insurance covers the generic, which only became available a month before I started it. J&J lost their court battle. Otherwise I would be dead. The 12 month survival rate for this cancer is 5%. I have had it for two years. Got lucky.

    • @bluejackscanada
      @bluejackscanada 5 лет назад +4

      Last time i checked many cancers were a function of aging, as are many diseases.
      Once you get one chronic disease others tend to follow.
      Metformin is for diabetes, but some use it off label for aging.
      Research has shown many people taking Metformin for diabetes also seem to be protected from some cancers.
      NONSENSE?
      I don't understand why some people protect aging so much when it is the cause of so many diseases. Is aging your friend? I really will never understand some people.

To think pills or magic potions are going to come and interact with all these variables to make you live longer, now that is crazy . This was more of a sales pitch than an article. It seems that it's meant to boost the sales of NMN manufacturers. In essence, this is a testimonial ad that is thin on facts. You briefly touched on what steps you took to lower your age by 5 years. Can you expand on or provide an actual log and the details of what you did? I don't think you even mention a timeframe. What regiment did you follow? How much sleep did you get daily? How did you change your routine? What restricted diet did you follow? How come you couldn't eat before noon? How frequently did you exercise and what was your actual exercise? It seems you glossed over these facts, provided very little information, and pitched the dietary supplement.

      I am more concerned with the test. What is the internal age test looking at? How is it deriving at the answer? What is the age based on, the adverage population? Was there a study completed? The test seems unscientific. If the test asked you lifestyle questions and you stated you were exercising more and so forth...would the test give you a better age score.....she said it was blood based but no other info was given...

      @@dc9631 That part is legit, they take your blood glucose trend, measure inflammation, oxidative stress, blood lipids and immune cells etc. You can do it on your own if you're not from USA (where I'm from such blood panel is under 300eur)

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm sounds more like disease/ alignment manipulation. Essentially deleting or reconverting dna to serve a purpose. My only question is how long does the modification last and if begins to breakdown will breakdown at a higher rate.

      I never quite got how it works in practice. If I eat 30% less than BMR x activity coefficient, I will lose weight slowly and so my BMR further drops. What prevents anorexia?

    Which molecule do they give the mice to make them look older?

    • @Trucidare
      @Trucidare 5 лет назад

      No molecule. If I'm correct, they'd put them through radiation blasts which would break up their DNA, promoting cellular senescence, and aging as a result

    Why worry about getting younger when u hit the wall as a woman 🤷. It won't increase chance for a better guy/husband and more babies so it's a waste of time really....but u can work a job longer single...

    This old lady is lost. she thinks meditation means putting on headphone and listening to some tiben singing bowl!!! Western population has no clue what meditation means or how to do it.
    Meditation is to be "hear and now". Meaning don't put anything in your ear and just close your eyes and listen to everything coming in and ignore. don't hold onto any of the thoughts or external noise. the point is to bring you to the current(hear and now) moment, because you're constantly either thinking about future or in past and rarely IN THE MOMENT. That's where meditation comes in.

    When she was NPR' s Asian correspondent she covered garbage news ( celebrities and other meaningless useless knowledge) which also translates into her new role. She's also a member of CFR ( Council on Foreign Relations) which points to her as careerist and useless generalist. For people who find this pseudo-science informative ,the only people they are fooling are themselves.
