    Eyup Nathan. Norway looks incredible. I know that my broad Yorkshire dialect is basically heavily accented Norwegian so maybe Toon lingo goes the same way. Bairns 'r laikin i' beck = barna leker i bekken = 'the children are playing in the stream' for example. No wonder southerners get puzzled. That was a nice warm up session - now get that halibut! I'll sithi after. Dave.

    Fantastic weather and great fishing. Interesting what you said about cod being lazy. I fished a mark in July that was a narrow and very heavy flow, like swinging Tobies for salmon in the Tay in the spring.. Fished Black Minnows hard on the bottom and there were loads of red cod. When the water went slack they would come off the bottom and could be caught right up to the surface. Interestingly, in the slacker water there were more pollock. This was in about 10m of water.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  Месяц назад +1

      It's an conclusion I've come to from fishing at St Abbs and Eyemouth, as soon as slack hits, the cod start to take lures. I noticed this in Norway, but as you said David, they came much higher up the water column. Apparently there are meant to be no pollack as far north as we were fishing but we managed to wangle a few out, and they were much higher up than usual too, but only bit when the current was running, I blamed that on fishing in 40m from our feet.

    I'm from Florida and when I was 17 I went to Sweden to visit an exchange student who lived with us the year before. We went to his family summer house on an island with no electricity and stayed for a week. I caught way too many cod to eat and released a lot. We are all we wanted too and they were delicious fresh. They're easy to catch. It was similar to using jigs in Florida or now in Virginia where I live and fish.
    I'd love to see Norway because Sweden is beautiful and the people were awesome. The midsummer's eve party was awesome and crazy. I bet it's similar in Norway. It's a beautiful but harsh part of the world, especially for a kid from Florida.
    I would really love to catch some of the huge halibut in Norway! I didn't know about them when I was in Sweden so I didn't try. Bummer
