You may want to purchase a plow blade to attach to the front of one of your quads. This would help you clean off pathways and driveways on your property-and clean up snow covered areas as well.

My Mom used to love telling me how my Dad and two of her brothers put a metal building together and told her that the company must’ve included extra panels. 😂 No, they didn’t put it together right and it never got fixed. 😂She told me “no extra panels just men who didn’t want to read the instructions!” 😂

We used spray foam insulation on our rock/stone foundation basement and thankfully, 10 years later, not a single mouse, rat or weasel has found its way into our home. It fills all the gaps and rodents don't want to burrow through it. Plus, the floor feels warmer, so win-win. We live in Nova Scotia too--over on the south shore.

I've had one of those metal sheds in my previous home, my Dad did a concrete base including an area around the outside of it to keep out vermin. He also put external silicone on the internal joints. I had no damp, mold or rust in it ever xxx it's the perfect choice for a feed shed

Weasels can get through a 1/2" space and will go after your chickens and ducks. A great deterrent is to shake hot pepper flakes around any place you think they could attempt getting in. Hot pepper doesn't harm your chickens or ducks, so it's a win win. Also peppermint, eucalyptus, tee tree oil, and even cayenne pepper mixed with water will help deter them. It blocks their sense of smell, which they need to find food. I sure hope it doesn't come back!! The horses are adorable. So friendly and calm. Glad to see more regular postings from you again. I always enjoy watching your many endeavors!

🥰 kindness to the weasels just melts my heart- I know varmin and all but thanks for the compassionate release. Also there has to be something you can make out of the gorgeous eggs. Knew a painter who painted all kinds of egg shells and made mosaic painting but you could do something as creative you are, blown eggs to make ornaments, mosaics, something inventive.

I had a bad experience with a snake when I was around 3 years old. I never quite got over it. As an adult, I understand the difference between harmful snakes and beneficial snakes, but that childhood trauma sticks like super glue! Still, I wouldn't want to hurt a snake, so I understand why you trap and release the weasels. Can't wait to see that shed completed. I'm always amazed at how much you get done in a day. The horses are growing like weeds! 💕☮️✨

I Googled it and it said you should take a weasel at least 10 miles (16km) away from your home to ensure it doesn't come back!
They can fit through a hole as small as a inch and normal chicken wire won't keep them out of a chicken coop!
One site recommends a motion activated sprinkler or sound to scare them off!

  • @petervanderspek4420

You call it a weasel, but is called an ermine. In winter it is white and has a black tip at his tail. In summer their colour is brown. Their fur is used for the edge of a coronation cloak. You shall see it when Charles will be crowned in may this year. They are small preditors and eat eggs, little birds, rabbits . Also your chickens and ducks can be a prey.

Another great video as always! I think that is what we call a stoat over here (UK) as it has a longer black-tipped tail than the smaller weasel does. I appreciate it may be a different creature over there though. Pretty cute, but oh so fierce!!
I hope the shed is still out there when you can get back to it, and hasn't been blown away! It looks great and just what you need for storing homestead feed. You both amaze me with they way you approach everything in such a positive way - I don't think I've heard you ever say you can't do something - you just get stuck into it and voila! there is it! Done! You are both an inspiration!

Aww I’m so sorry to hear of your negative experiences with ferrets. We had the sweetest little girl ferret that would never ever bite anyone or be aggressive in any way. We raised her from a kit and taught her to behave (just as any loving owner should do with any animal in their care.) She’s crossed the rainbow bridge now, but she brought so much joy to our family while she was here. Her name was Pixel 🥹
Wild stoats/weasels are a cousin but different species of course and wow are they fast on their little feet! Thanks for humane catch and releasing them. 😘
    Stay cozy ☕️

Weasels should be removed a long distance from your property or they will return. I don’t know if Nova Scotia has regulations on doing things like that. He may be cute but he might end up bringing his entire family to your house to feed on your eggs and chickens, then make their way into your home for more food. We had similar problems with raccoons in our barns destroying everything just to nest. You may want to find the tiniest hole they can get in through. Plug interior holes like around your plumbing with steel wool. All exterior holes should also be plugged. Good luck.
