Wow, great video. Thank you. Any idea how to turn titanium black?
Use a MAP torch to heat the titanium until its glowing bright red and then immediately quench in vegetable oil or Canola oil. Simply repeat this process about 4 or 5 times until you have a black coating. Each repeat of the process will make the titanium a little darker. Do this until it is black.
Oh and also, just so you know, You do not need to wipe the excess oil off after each time you quench. It's a real simple process.

I am making my own titanium frame lock knives and would like to get into anodizing them. What finish do you recommend for that? Bead blasting? Scotchbrite belt finish? Hand sanding?
What voltage did you use to achieve the deep bronze on the scales?
I can’t remember for sure but just by looking at it I would think somewhere between 15 and 16.5 volts. By the time you get up to 18 volts it’s already turning purple, but given how dark that bronze is, that would be my guess. Cool thing about anodizing is that if you’re careful when stripping it, you can keep trying until you get it right.
Do you offer anodizing service? If I wanted to send in scales and hardware for green ano, how much would it cost? Thank you
Do you need the Whink for it to work?
It's not necessarily needed, but it definitely is the best way to "strip" the titanium of any coatings, previous anodization, or contaminations like oils and stuff. Anything like that on the surface will prevent the titanium from anodizing in the areas that aren't clean.
Which voltage is for black anodizing?
Can't anodize titanium black.
You can heat it and quench it oil repeatedly to darken it. It won't be truly black, but is a very strong coating that's much more resistant to wear than anodizing. It won't come off with HF acid though (if thats a concern) and repeatedly quenching titanium comes with obvious consequences, but that shouldn't matter in knives.
