Janet was great friends with her backup dancers. She always put them in the forefront. One of the girls did her hair for the video too. And this is Mew Jack Swing for this song. Written and produced by Janet and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
MC Lyte is the Shiiidddd......she also does the voice for the Grammys and other music award shows. Saw her live a few times and her voice as remained consistent since her teen years. She and Queen Latifah came out around the same time!
Janet was literally THE FIRST to showcase her dancers and choreographers. Janet worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on all her big hits. For this track I'm sure they blened New Jack Swing, Funk, and House. My Queen of POP!
In fact, this song was more New Jack Swing. THe album ''Janet'' was very varied, included rock (What I'll Do), House (Throb), New Jack Swing (You Want this), classical (This time), swing/jazz (Funky Big Band), rap (new agenda), pop (Again), bossa Nova (The Body THat Loves You) and hip-hop (Ff, with influenced heavy metal)
Janet is always been beautiful She's been beautiful all her life ♥️😍 and still is at 53 going on 54 sheeeeeshhh Sis gone be 54 on May 16th 😌😌 I'mma have to celebrate her😌
You should do reactions to Janet’s live performances of ‘Rope Burn’, ‘Discipline’(personal fav), & ‘Would You Mind’ they are HILARIOUS (she pulls male fans onstage) but it also shows you the type of level Ms. Jackson is on
Janet is so sensual with her beautiful self! Yet so down to earth. Idk...this one, Pleasure Principle and Love Will Never Do Without You are probably my favorite Janet videos RIGHT NOW. But tbh just like with her brother MJ, I'll see something I hadn't seen in a minute and change my mind tomorrow.
Fun fact: This song samples "Love Child" by the legendary Supremes and Tina Landon (who was Janet's brilliant choreographer for many years during her prime) said that they filmed this music video "on the fly" right in the middle of a major world tour in 1994. They flew in to California for a couple days, then flew right back out to Europe or Asia.
When she came to miami for her state of the world concert 2 years ago my jaw actually dropped that she still can hit that breakdown dance at 52. Mc lyte rapping
Shoutout to you for recognizing those background harmonies on that pre-chorus...they sound so good in the middle of all the drums & the sample. -- Oh and Janet songs are usually written by her and produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis from like 1986 to 2006-ish.
@@deesee3622 Yeah, Teddy Riley is more MJ and Blackstreet and Babyface specilizes on those great vocalists, especially Whitney and Toni Braxton in the beginning, but he also did a lot for Boyz II Men. But Janet´s main collaborators are Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and Mariah collaborated mainly with Walter Affanasief (hope I spelled his name right).
YES, as someone who recommended it, WERE WE WRONG lol. Let me tell you, this is off of my favorite Janet album, what you might not have picked up on, That's The Way Love Goes, If & Anytime Anyplace are all off of the "Janet." album. What I love that the video shows & you picked up on is the closeness with the dancers, Janet is highly recognized for having real friendships with her dancers and in this video & That's The Way Love Goes & Go Deep they showcased it. The production for this was done by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, the majority of Janet's catalog was produced by them, they're a trio in the studio. They actually are friends. 4 of the dancers from this video did an interview together this month talking about their friendship, vacations they took together, etc.
Actually there is footage of Janet and her backup dancers on vacation in the Bahamas somewhere. Especially Tina Landen the choreographer which is the white girl with the short hair cut and sunglasses in the vid. So, yes they were very close.
I’ve been watching your reaction videos. You’re so awesome. I love love love me some Janet and Michael Jackson. Janet holds a very special place in my heart. It’s refreshing to see millennials such as yourself reacting to the legends that I grew up to. Janet is my #1. Love it man, keep it up!!!
The chimes that you hear in the song sample Diana Ross and the Supremes "Love Child." The rapper is the iconic MC Lyte. Janet exclusively produces her songs with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the album this is from incorporated all the musical genres. In your down time, listen to "This Time" from the Janet album and you'll hear how she incorporated opera into the track. If you like the way she interacts with her dancers, you should watch "All Night (Dont Stop)"
''Jungle Boogie'' of Kool and the gang was also sampled in the song. I didn't hear this sample of ''Jungle Boogie'' unlike ''Erotica'' of Madonna (because the ''Jungle Bookie'' sample was evident for ''Erotica'')
Produced by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Janet. All of her albums have been produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with Janet as Co-producer. After her album All for You in 2001 more guest producers contributed.
This was a 90’s highlight!! Janet & “the kids” (thats how she calls her dancers) were legendary in the 90’s! This was the Janet tour...best concert I’ve ever been. Yes better than Beyonce
Janet forms a family of dancers with every project, and they truly become friends and dance with her in her videos and tours for each project. That's why the chemistry is so great. The original version of this video was in black and white. They later released this colorized version.
The rapper is MC LYTE, she's amazing, you did react to the Brandy song before which featured her, Queen Latifah and other female rappers. Please do Janet's Runaway, if you don't already have it on your list.
Nice reaction Jack! And I must say this is one of my favorite Janet songs! As always, I'm hear with some trivia and fun facts! This was first released to MTV and other video shows in Black and White before being released in color a month later. And, MC Lyte was all ready to go on tour with Janet for the US leg of her janet. Tour when she asked if she wanted to shoot this video, which takes place in California's Palm Desert
Great reaction video!!! To answer your question, yes all the girls in this video besides Janet and MC Lyte (the rapper) are Janet's background dancers, whom were also her very best friends. So they were out here having fun on set. As always with Janet, the producers are herself, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Legendary!! This is one of my fav songs from the janet. album. Janet was on top of the world during this era.
Janets vids contained the same team she took on tours which she referred to as the “kids” ...she really put the stamp on celebrating dancers in videos.....they lover her so much and it’s a big deal to get a Janet video ....check out the celebration of rhythm nation where every single dancer of all tours came back for a one off performance just to show Janet some lobe ❤️
possibly already mentioned in the comments but a few things: a) the video was originally filmed in black and white but a special effects prod team spent like 3 weeks colorizing it, b) the director said it’s based off an old movie called Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! which takes place in the desert (also explains why it was filmed in b&w), c) the immaculate tina landon choreographed the dance (along with If and the subsequent tour of this album). such a great song and video! thanks for the react!
Rapper is my lyte. She is one of the pioneers of female rappers. Most of janet jackson songs are written and produced by Janet, Jimmy jam, and Terry lewis.
Janet had Fly Girls💕💕💕She had Josie AND JENNIFER❗️I almost died when I realized that was THEE CARRIE ANN (Fly Girl) on DWTS. Josie has acted and DANCED since ILC. She was in the RENEE video (Lost Boyz) and a few movies. JOSIE DANCED FOR MICHAEL (Remember the fkn Time) AND JANET😳😳😳😳
This was produced in 1993 and released as a single in 1994. By that time, new jack swing was REALLY on its way out. Also, about 85-90% of Janet's material throughout her entire career was produced by the same dream team of her, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. A bulk of Jimmy & Terry's best productions are those that they did with and for Janet. She grew up and evolved in sound WITH them. They parted ways for like, almost 2-3 albums worth of material in the mid-2000s until they reunited in 2015 for Unbreakable. You may wanna check out more recent Janet stuff, such as NO SLEEEP (yes, that's how it's spelled). It's a slinky, chilled out sex jam.
MC Lyte was one of the best things about this song... brooo you reacted to her in the I wanna be down remix... I’m about to unclaim you as my lil bro 😂😂😂
Jack you need to get some headphones and listen to any album by Queen Janet and get inspired and blown away by her incredible music, lyrics, but especially her harmony and background vocals! Best in the business! Her harmonizing and background vocals are all done by her and are out of this world! You can only enjoy it masterpiece with headphones on......let me know what you think
The writers and producers are Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis! The song is considered new jack swing and funk genre. What makes the track so special and extremely interesting when it comes to sound is the fact that this track uses 2 samples of mega hits of 60 & 70. The samples are Diane Ross and the Supremes "Love Child" and Kool & The Gang "Jungle Boogie"
That's not true at all. Do your research man. Poetic Justice was shot from April 1992 to August 1992. This song was recorded in November 1992 and the video filmed on June 15, 1994.
Yeah my favorite janet era and song this is when she was her sexiest and at her peak..8 think JLo is in this vid too She is in rock n roll hall of fame for a reason
That my friend, was Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis again. Jimmy and Terry have produced 90% of her music catalog. They worked exclusively with Janet all the way up until the album Damita Jo. The rapper was MC Lyte
FYI- This was one of Janet's favorite videos that she made because it was so much fun to just chill and have fun with her friends (the dancing crew). Also, it was extremely hot this day outside when they filmed. From the first day this music video came out, I though that this dance breakdown in this video is EVERYTHING...simple yet sexy AF 👏🏼🔥👏🏼🔥👏🏼🔥👏🏼
Jack Reacts, I'm sure you know this by now, but the woman in this video wearing a white tank top with blue stripes on the side is Tina Landon she is the insanely talented choreographer who did the best of Janet's choreography...everything on the Janet & Velvet rope albums. I see you like slick dance moves....you should look up the American Music Awards performance of Together Again (there's maybe three versions & you gotta check to see the clearest one). Janet used a remixed version of the song & Tina Landon's dance was sooo cool and slick...even the entrance of Janet & the exit of everyone was cool as hell. She also did one where she did That's The Way Love Goes & If...Crazy, her MTV ICON performance was special and Doesn't Matter at the MTV music awards.

Mc Lyte, who You might want to check out some of her videos... She is Legendary!!! You mentioned "Celia" (RIP, Cuban Queen and Goddess of Latin Music) and "Hector" ( I'm not sure if he is still with Us).. I think You will appreciate "Frankie Ruiz" (RIP King ).... You ask a lot who produced Janets stuff, and to answer your question 90% of her music is produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis(besides her first two albums and her Discipline album). I think you would enjoy reacting to tracks like “FeedBack” “Young love” and “Dream Street” that way you can really hear the difference from when she isn’t working with Jam and lewis! Also you should react to her most recent video “Made For Now” which is produced by Jam and Lewis!
I lovee this song I think you should react to "come back to me" which I think is my favorite slow song from her and "all for you" which IS my favorite dance song from her

I have the demo to this from 1992! Drum beat is the same, but less polished. The MC Lyte was added in 1994.
Janet Jackson Mclyte bring me back to the 1994 like magic. So cool
Can you plsss.. React to "again " love that song of her.. One of my fave song of her.. Plsss jack.. Thank you.. Kharren from philippines...
The version with MC Lyte was a remix for the single released because the album version is simply Janet in solo.
Fun fact: Janet's dancer/friend that wanted to watch TV is Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds current wife, Nicole Pantenburg!
I lovee this song I think you should react to "come back to me" which I think is my favorite slow song from her and "all for you" which IS my favorite dance song from her
Great reaction! Alot of her singles are her fun tracks but she has a lot of dark edgy tracks that were never released. She performed What about on VH1 fashion awards that you gotta react to. Also check out MC lyte & Missy "Cold rock a party" which is the rapper in this video.
I was going through puberty when this came out I been in love with her ever since
Yes 💕 her
anytime any place , thats the way love goes, this song all from Janet album; LOL Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis tend to produce Janets stuff and they did this one
