They're insanely talented, previously apart of a group under Prince when they got their beginnings in Minnesota in the late 70's/early 80's. Production is on point every time. They also did many great songs for Usher like 'You Remind Me'. Check out their discography, as well. You won't be disappointed.

Janet was always very calculated in the release of her albums. There was usually a 4 year wait between albums and this came after the close of Rhythm Nation. Last track release on RN was Love Will Never Do w/o You. This video release was meant to be a stark contrast to RN not only in the groove of the song but also with intent to make us crave the dance. Of course the next track to come "if" which you have already reviewed came after to cure that.
If you want a taste of both then search out her MTV performance of this song and "if" for a treat. I'll try to post the link below for it.

That’s jimmy jam and terry Lewis on the track with a James brown sample on the guitars and the honeydrippers on that drum sample. This album was really hip hop inspired as far as drums go; and soul inspired with the samples (if had a Diana Ross and the supremes sample). Jam and Lewis threw the rock guitars and rnb keys. All the different mashups of styles + the extreme layering of background vocals and harmonies made the album JANET. one of the most eclectic I’ve ever heard from her. It so urban but at the same time pop all the way back in the early 90s before that even really was happening a lot. Jimmy and Terry are fire.

Great reaction, as usual. This song is so chill.
I would love to see your reaction to her video for "I Get Lonely" (not the duet with Blackstreet). Great choreography in it and the song is soooo good.

I've seen a couple of your videos and have noticed that you've asked about who produces her music. for the most part (her work from 1986's Control till 2017 Unbreakable (skip Disciplne ) almost all of her sound is a work between Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and herself.
