I believe it 100%…..if you’ve ever driven a G body with the stock 305 (even the “HO”) or 307 Olds you’d know that even this sad display is lightning fast compared to what those cars came with stock. The way that front end pulled up while he was on it….no stock 80’s G body, even the fabled GNX, will do that. The Challenger could have been a 5.7 or 6.4…..it was just bad driving.
You got a valid point however what is restricting the Buick is his exhaust setup and probably a stiffer suspension w/new motor mounts. Thar Buick woud be WAY faster! It definitely needs a stronger fuel pump. I had a stock 73 Rivi 454/4B and that's how it sounded out the gate@J.R.in_WV
I did a 383 using the 6 inch rods for this engine to replace the 454 in my 1 ton Chev truck so I can say the 383 is doing fine as a hunting truck and towing engine. I kept the compression to 9.8-1 because I need a towing & hunting truck engine not a racing engine.
I've got a 383 in a iroc we built for my 16th birthday. I'm 32 now. Thing only pushes 600 hp but doesn't weigh half of 1 of these dodges. I also have a hellcat. It's slow. Bout to trade it in or sell it

Attention to the video.....the chevy was put in the dirty lane...that chevy would have jumped out faster you are right but just as soon as he hit the gas he had to get right back out of the gas because he started spinning because he was in the dirty lane and the chevy probable had street ties......put that chevy in the other lane the out come would be better and that chevy would have been further out....and just because it's a 383 doesn't really mean much because I've seen Blueprint engines have anywhere from 350 hp to 650 hp it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.
There's too many other factors to consider that are being overlooked. Guarantee you the modern car has a high performance trans and rear end to go with the high performance engine. Can the same be said for the ol' school ride??!! My homie years ago had a 383 stroker and 2speed power glide with a ford 9" rear in a 64 Nova and used to eat 5.0 mustangs alive all day long!! I'm taking bout beat'n em by five and six car lengths!! Smoke'n them (with ZERO power adder's!! No nitrous, turbo, super charger, just pure engine!! I think his first "timed" run was 11:66 at 136 mph!! Bout three months later added atwo stage nitrous jit and ran a 9;28 at 156mph!!
