    Third row seats are never meant for full grown adult I don't think that was ever the intent. Since SUVs are replacing minivans with moms, the third rows have always been intented for kids. I don't know why car reviewers always says its not for the average adult.
    I personally like the Mazda CX9. For its safety and reliability.

      I don't have a kid that I can put in the 3rd row to show the difference in space between these two cars and other 3-row SUVs that I've reviewed. So I try to sit back there. At least its consistent and hopefully people watching the video get a sense of how much space there actually is instead of just looking at an empty seat.
      Plus, I'm not the only one with at least 6 other adults friends. If a couple of them annoyed me one night, I'd make them sit in those seats as payback haha

    I'm a little late but nice review. My wife is in the market for a compact-midsize suv after giving her '16 Accord to our daughter. The budget is $40k ($35K is ideal) and now that the CX-90 is out, I'm seeing some discounts on the CX-9 that are tempting. Previously I was looking at CRV, Kia Sportage (don't like the exterior styling), etc. The RDX is tempting but over our "desired" budget. She doesn't need the 3rd row so the size of the CX-9 isn't an issue. I know many car reviews pit vehicles in the same class when they compare... but now I find myself cross shopping a CX-9 with a CRV and it looks like the CX-9 Touring Plus is cheaper than the CRV Sport Touring Hybrid (US)! Decisions decisions... My new flaw is if the vehicle offers a better engine, it's usually the one I want and I stop considering the cheaper one. We did that with the Accord and got the Sport with the CVT... always wishing we went up to the 6 cylinder and automatic.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  Год назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed my review! Funny you mention the CR-V Hybrid, it's my demo car this week. I like it but the Touring trim (which is the only trim that's available with the hybrid powertrain here in Canada) is expensive and it doesn't drive as nicely as the Mazda CX-9 does. But it is up there for comfort and fuel economy.

    I’ve owned multiple Mazdas and simply put, they’ve been bulletproof. I’m currently on a 2018 CX-9 Grand Touring and I love the car. Zero problems so far. However, if Mazda truly wants to compete with the likes of Acura, they MUST upgrade their safety tech. Yes, the CX-9 has features like lane keep assist but it barely works. Even the adaptive cruise fails to track the car in front if a curve is too severe. Consumers are increasingly demanding things like semi-autonomous driving tech and Mazda just isn’t there yet.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the insight! The Mazda CX-9 (and other Mazda crossovers) actually received Top Safety Pick+ ratings from the IIHS so they are very safe vehicles. As for Mazda's driver aids, you're right. Mazda isn't quite at the same level as other brands. Even Kia/Hyundai have better systems. Hopefully this will change with their next generation of vehicles like the CX-90 and CX-70.

    • @chicoandthem4n
      @chicoandthem4n 2 года назад +5

      No disrespect but Lane keep assist should not be something that you need to drive a car it's one of the most basic skills you need to drive a car is to keep your own lane. Sorry but they should take your license away if you can't keep your own lane

      @@chicoandthem4n you missed my point entirely. Should you ‘need’ lane keep assist and other advanced safety features to be a competent, skilled driver? Nope. Does all data point to the fact that these advanced safety features prevent accidents, reduce accident severity, and save lives? Absolutely. Some drivers are still divided as to whether we should rely on them; however, consumers are increasingly demanding them. Logical conclusion: if a car manufacturer wants to remain competitive, they must offer these systems. And the systems must work well.

    Mazda is getting better but not quite there yet. They are little behind in terms of transmission and tech. Most shoppers that would buy the mdx would probably not look at the cx9 instead they would compare it to the Lexus RX. Acura mdx hands down

  • @mrgold3591
    @mrgold3591 2 года назад +1

    Acura went from a 5AT, 6AT, 9AT, 7DCT, and now 10AT. The multi-gear trans only really helped 0-60 times, not so much highway mpgs. Acura did a great job improving its interior compared to the previous 14-20 MDXs. The +22 Acura's extra 300lbs of weight with the same 290 hp/267tq and having to drop down up to 4 gears in the 10AT can zap the fun factor a little bit. Using the 17-20 MDX Sport Hybrid powertrain with 321hp/289tq and +26 mpgs for only $1500 more would match the extra weight and provide more performance for the current gen MDX.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  2 года назад

      Yea, what happened to the hybrid powertrain in this new generation of the MDX? I would've assumed it would be a no brainer to have it as an option for the 2022 model year.

      @@MGReviewsBlog For some reason, Acura is extremely conservative and doesn't like to lead; but, mostly react in the market place. The Sport Hybrid would sell in this market with high gas prices. I get the same combined mpgs in my 4500lbs MDX hybrid as I did with my 3400lbs 06 TSX with a 2.4L I4. Acura is concentrating on pure battery electric vehicles using the same battery tech found in the new electric Hummer.

    I tested an older version of the MDX that also had the SH-AWD system and did not think it handled that much better than CX-9. Honestly, the CX-9 felt more car like than the MDX and was "funnier' under normal driving conditions. I would also state that both were inferior to the Audi Q7 in my mind. The CX-9 is showing its age but the base is there to make something really special. A CX-90 with a Inline 6 Sky-X engine putting out close to 300 HP and 350 LB torque but still getting 25 MPG overall would be an absolute killer vehicle. Rumors are that it will have interior sizing closer to the Telluride as well.

    • @MGReviewsBlog

      I agree, the CX-9 does feel better from behind the steering wheel. But the MDX is available with real torque vectoring instead if imitation by using the brakes to induce body rotation. So I meant that the MDX is better in terms of outright corner speed but the CX-9 is more fun to drive.
