    The race from a dig demonstrated how the higher torque output of the CX-9 even with 3 fewer gears allowed it to hang with the more powerful car, but as they approached higher speeds where VTEC's high-lift cams engage and where the extra gears allowed the Acura to stay in the power band, the race become about horsepower...the Mazda visibly tapped-out.

      Daniel, great comments. I just got my new 2022 MDX Advance . Whoa Nellie, what a wonderful SUV!!! Agreed, SHAWDY (as Acura's SH-AWD system is referred to), is one of , if not the Best AWD systems out there with true Torque Vectoring. With the enhancements that Acura has made to the drive platform & suspension, the new 10sp AT - Fabulous, new brakes, and digital Cookies , makes this new car probably the best I ever purchased (leased, actually). At close to 70 Years old (October), I feel like a 12 year old at XMAS with a new beloved Toy. I'm retired now, and look forward to washing up , and going out to buy the newspapers in my new Acura. I test drove the Mazda CX-9 in 2019 , almost got it but it was lacking in the InfoT system; and Acura made a good deal on a 2019 MDX Advance. That was the car I just traded in on a Acura Offered Early Lease termination deal with a $1K Loyalty to boot. The Mazda , known as the Poor Man's BMW, handles very well, but I found the Turbo 4 a bit laggy , even though it has tremendous torque. I'm very Pleased with my new Acura and I don't usually use the term LOVE - I reserve that feeling for People / Family......But I really LIKE this car inside and Out!! Got it in the very rarely seen Fathom Blue Pearl with a Graystone Interior. When you look at the exterior in different lighting, the Fathom Blue Pearl cast different sheens of Blue/Black and Blue - just like the Fathoms of the Sea. The Popular Liquid Carbon color will be all over the place..... I was never a Real Crowd Follower. FYI, I really don't need a 3rd Row SUV (does anyone really use that 3rd Row??) , but after looking at and test driving the RDX (which is an excellent car too), I liked the roominess and comfort (the seats in the new MDX are extremely comfortable), even though it is considerably more expensive, I went with the MDX. I said : What the Hell, I'm retired at 70 YO , and deserved it. 3 year lease with 10K miles per year ..... I will end up with a lot less mileage than that... so I will consider buying mine in 3 years.

      Seems like current Acura MDX models have less horsepower in comparison to the 2011. I dont tow anything with mine. I do use the 7 seat feature. I can tell you the HP and torque are amazing and when combined with torque vectoring AWD system the system has helped me avoid slippery wet and icy situation in which i pulled maneuvers that with a conventional car, an accident would have been eminent. I own the base mode as i do not like the GPS system and the radio system at the time was not worth the additional money. I own a Honda CRV 2016 EXL AWD but the car has its limitations. My Acura can handle extreme weather road conditions as I travel with the family a lot. Seating position is excellent, plenty of sound proofing in the vehicle and the rear seat is great for the kids and when used by adults is like seating in a limousine. I wouldnt get a
      Brand new one again as these cars depreciate quickly but i would get a used on for sure. By the way my car gets 15 MPG and highway maybe i can get 19MPG. My car is getting ready for the 100K tune up, water pump, new tires, rotors, brakes and belt replacement service. I am thinking to keep it my car for another 50 to 60k miles and hopefully i can trade it. I would consider getting a 2018 model. I hope u enjoy your MDX, awesome car indeed

      I’m a sales rep in Ontario Canada for Mazda and you’ll change opinion when Mazda comes with the next gen CX-5, CX-9 and also the Mazda6 (gonna have a new name). All three of those will switch to a RWD platform and a turbo I6 will be offered for the highest trims (GT and Signature). That Signature trim will be almost 10k more than what it is currently to really give a run for their money for Acura and Lexus. Every car they produce except the CX-3 (discontinued for 2022) will eventually switch to a RWD layout and will have a bunch of luxury features added (full pano roof, cooled seats, higher quality materials…). Mazda is too small to compete at the bottom with the other Japanese and especially with the Koreans.

    • @billblonco
      @billblonco 3 года назад

      I think Mazda should adapt a luxury name plate for there upscale vehicles IE. Honda-Acura, Nissan-Infiniti, Hyundai-Genesis, and so on. I don't think customers are willing to pony up an extra 10k for a Mazda just because it has Rwd and has a nicer interior.

    • @arsenaldline
      @arsenaldline 3 года назад +2

      @@billblonco The reason why they aren’t doing that is they do not have the money for it. Mazda is still a small manufacturer. Each model’s next generation will have hybrid/plug in options and they will make more powerful 6 cylinders engines. They know they can’t increase the price drastically one shot, so it will be done overtime. Mazda clientele is a special one in the sense that the average Mazda family revenu is about 141k (Canada), most Japanese brands is about 110k. Our clientele is a bit more educated and makes more money than the average brand, but of course not close to a true luxury brand. From what I have heard on the inside, the lesser trim levels will still keep an attractive price whereas the GT and Signature trim will offer a huge difference in terms of options, built quality and materials to really make it more upscale. We’ll see what will happen but so far the upscale look and feel of the Mazda3 and CX-30 are killing it for us.

    All 2.5L Skyactiv Turbo also have restricted intske before and after air filter to cut peak power, to save the FWD based transmission life

    Also the Mazda has more torque at lower RPM's off the line and the V6 in the Acura ( Honda) generates it's power above 5000 rooms. Could have too you all that and saved you the time but then you wouldn't have made any free You Tube money.

    I've got a 2018 CX9 GT-- initially the car pulled really hard. Did 0-60 consistently at 6.9-7.1 seconds with premium fuel. Did a service update on the ECU and noticed the car felt significantly slower. Repeated the test, it's at 7.99-8.2 seconds now, in keeping everything the same (same road as well, no additional weight).
    Replaced spark plugs at dealer a few weeks ago, same 8 seconds 0-60.. Not sure what's up with it. Drives fine, other than the vibrations at highway speeds. (Had road force done, still persists, another owner reported it may be a bad rear CV from new)

I don't care about drag racing speeds of either car but I do care about styling, reliability, comfort and resale value. The Mazda comes at a much lower price point but I am a loyal Acura buyer. I still have a 2006 Acura TL that has no rust and everything still works on it except the HandsfreeLink module (phone). I could fix that for $225 but I don't use it. I would be open to test driving the Mazda and doing more research on reliability. Can't hurt to have an extra $15k in your pocket by choosing the Mazda.

    Speaking from experience right here.
    My wife just traded her 2018 cx-9 for a 2022 MDX.
    The mazda has a much more usable powerband off the line. Its very noticeable during part throttle acceleration and is much more fun to drive in a city environment. You really feel the torque.
    The Acura MDX doesnt feel as quick off the line, but the v6 with the 10 speed is super smooth.
    I would rate the Mazda i-ACTIV awd system as only adequate while the MDX has a much more advanced awd system with torque vectoring.
    My wife loves her new MDX, but i really miss that Mazda. You cant really go wrong with either. The Mazda is such a good value and the quality is right up there with Acura. The Acura is just a but more refined.
    Cant wait for mazda to refresh the lineup

The TTP requires a learning curve, but I'm getting there , hey at 70 YO , it takes me a little longer. Should have been a touch Screen or even better, BOTH. But that didn't dissuade me after I test drove it !!! Acura has produced a great vehicle IMHO, and is a Value to boot compared comparably equipped BMW X-5, Audi Q-7, MB, and Volvo, by far ...
