@@DeadRedAssassin relentless is the best way to describe that outro. It just keeps freaking going way past you think the riff should be over. Absolutely masterful, it's a perfect breakdown.
My mummy vision picked up on the 3 big scars on his left forearm, just below his inner elbow. Whatever caused them was painful both mentally and physically! I think that's where the lyrics "bandage up the trenches" and "talk me through the damage" you have vital tendons and a big artery where those scars are, and it takes a LOT to repair. I'm just glad he failed, because the world is a lot richer with him in it! ❤
There seem to also be several less visible ones on his right arm... I think if he really was trying to hide them, he'd have longer sleeves on his robe.
That scream at the end "I can't hold myself together"..the pain in his voice is just 🥺 I was a sobbing mess 😭! I think we can all relate to Vessel's words in some way. What an incredible band. Great reaction guys! 🫶🏻 WORSHIP
Makes me sob every single time at that part! I can't help but lose myself in the end of this entire song. It's painful yet so beautiful. Absolutely unreal band.
I've said this plenty of times, but the perfect compliment to Vessels voice is II's insane drumming. Every single time I show someone Sleep Token, they talk about how the drumming brings the song to a completely different level. WORSHIP!
For me, "High Water" is more of the finale of the album, with "Missing Limbs" more of a post-script addition, like an after-credits scene in a Marvel movie. And "Telomeres" is a great lead-in to "High Water", an unexpected shift equating DNA cell degradation with an all-encompassing toxic relationship that eventually breaks down and destroys those involved. It also includes a rare guitar solo and awesome drum fills! By the time "High Water" ends, my interpretation is that Vessel's meaning of the title of the album 'This Place Will Become Your Tomb' is that "This Place" is himself, his body, his human shell, his... vessel.
I just saw this, and it's interesting you say that, because I've seen people say the same thing about Take Me Back to Eden vs. Euclid. TMBTE is the finale, and Euclid is the epilogue.
This has one of the most difficult lines I resonate with "and I know you still bear the weight of your own existence, but you'll never bear the weight of two". It just screams that I refuse to be a burden.
@@Nonya12608 I feel it this way because of "when the mouth of infinity buries its teeth in me, I'll smile through the agony for you" that to me means the heaviness of existing, of being alive, and for that to follow makes me feel as though I'll refuse to dump all of that on you, all of my trauma and my pain, because you've got your own. The entire song feels like it's about his inability to keep himself separate from the anguish and likely the desire to unalive. And that he loves her and finds that as his beacon of hope and his purpose and that she's the only thing he's holding onto as he's drowning in it and it keeps him alive, but she's entirely unaware, because he refuses to tell her anything.
Let me blow your minds a bit further. The same synth pattern is also present in Jericho when he starts singing “until I wake I’ll dine on old encounters”
Anyone else think there may be a correlation between “flood me like Atlantic” in Atlantic, and “wash the salt from my hands” from Rain being connected to “wash me clean again before I pull myself beneath the waves”?
Yeah I think it ties together and more. I feel like several of the songs are sort of the events leading up to Atlantic both before and describing it after the fact.
i always thought he said "wash all the salt from my earth". the romans used to "salt the earth" to kill their enemies future prospects of growing food to return to prosperity. i took it as washing the salt from his earth could help him start anew
Everyone, get the sobbing corner ready for Missing Limbs. Support groups will be available. High Water is a great build up for the last song. Loved this and cannot wait for the next!
Sleep Token aren’t even a guitar-orientated band, yet this is one of the best guitar riffs of all time. Perfectly encapsulates what it must be like to drown. Chills every time!
I don't know... "High Water" breaks me down more than "Missing Limbs"... It's just the fact that in the song these lyrics "All of these scars on my arms"... he really has these scars on his left arm. Also the pain in his voice in "I can't hold myself together", it breaks me. Thanks you guys for your reaction. I'm really looking forward to "Missing Limbs" and the EPs One and Two
Something that I don't hear people talk about enough is Vessels ability to write melodies - not only that but ones that feel very appropriate to the names of the song. The increase in the notes he sings at the chorus in this one is like water rising; the guitar in Chokehold's chorus almost instills a sense of panic/alarm in how it sounds with the words separated like a gasp of air between the lyrics as if he was in an actual chokehold. There's so many examples of this throughout their discography High Water is one of my favourites from this album, it has so much to offer. Thanks for the reaction!
I could go on and on about why this is my favorite song. The lyrics, the haunting melody, the callbacks and the lines that get called back to, the Jaws melody, the climbing then sinking of the melody and vessels voice in the chorus, the outro that hits like a truck in various ways, in which i could describe even more but ive said enough. Theres more too. But, to do a TLDR. This song is one of the best songs ive ever heard, and the song i connect to the most. I mean every song by Sleep Token is perfect, this song is the perfect above perfection in my opinion. I know a lot of people agree with me too, and even that gives me the feels, knowing now how much this song touches other people, more than i thought before. Maybe because the Missing Limb people are very vocal haha.
Everything is connected with these guys. Everything. One of the more meta connections which I made only more recently was the "mouth of infinity" reference alongside the album cover of TMBTE being the moon with teeth. The moon controls the tides, and therefore creates the "High Water". If you stack all 3 album covers on top of each other, another visual story is told of someone rising up from the depths toward the moon. I have my own theory about what the "night" references are in their story, but it relates to a topic that we shouldn't discuss openly really (iykyk kinda thing). Just take "trees", "canopies", "night skies" and the autumn leaves from Euclid (leaves falling, revealing the sky/stars behind them) and you'll make some connections I'm sure.
There are very few things in life I wish I could experience for the first time again and ST is definitely one of them. Glad to be a part of your guys journey. Worship.
But wait there's more...there the EP's One(2016) & Two(2017) pre Sundowing. My absolute favorite Sleep Token song is Calcutta on Two. I know Missing Limbs is coming...but there's more to still blow your mind.
Once y'all are done with Missing Limbs, are you gonna discuss the journey on the podcast? Would love to hear your interpretation of the story. There's definitely a real story of Vessel underneath the lore and through the lyrics - a lot of us theorize there was a really nasty accident that plunged them into the Atlantic and that they may have lost a baby during it - in essence, the trilogy being his grieving process of the events. Another piece I interpret differently are the scars on his arms - I personally don't think he means self-harm. If we're going with the theme of the accident, and you actually look at the outside of Vessel's left arm, you can see two pretty nasty scars a couple inches apart that look like textbook scars from a compound fracture. Just my interpretation :)
Totally agree that it's a real thing that Vessel has been through as I have so heavily related to so many of his lyrics. You can't possibly imagine that level of pain and lyrically elucidate the way he does unless you've been through it
For Missing Limbs, if you go to the official video from Sleep Token, you'll notice the depth markers are listed (as he sinks on each track). 10,924m down is one of the deepest points in our ocean at the bottom of the Mariana Trench; the deepest Man has been able to go.

Watching this made almost cried because it made me remember what I felt the first time I listened High Water. One of my favorite songs. Vessel is a genius. It's being a wild ride see your reactions. Thank you for that.
Can’t wait for the last one. It’s a whole different vibe. It’s not dark or broody feeling like high water it’s just slow melodic soul crushing sadness.
Key things for me in this song: When someone says "don't hold your breath" waiting for something to come, but Vessel says "I can hold my breath forever". He knows they cannot be together, but he will still wait for her. "basking in the solace of regret" is such a killer line "Before I pull myself beneath the waves" after being flooded like Atlantic... and how the song ends sounding like its swirling down the drain. THAT GUITAR TONE "You still bear the weight of your own existence, and you'll never bear the weight of two" Vessel wanted a family, but she would never have a kid with him? Second favorite song overall but what I pull from the lyrics hits me harder than any song in the catalogue.
I think the breakdown is the true authentic moment you realize that every word you said up until that point is true. You really won’t ever be together. And the breakdown is so crushing because the feeling is crushing. And the breakdown is so instant and abrupt because the second you realize it’s over, every relevant feeling you’ve denied is no longer inaccurate.
People keep telling me to watch you guys! I finally have and I just fell in love. 😭 Watching you experience this song filled my heart to the brim. This is a sneaker favorite of mine. There goes my evening as I run back through all your previous reactions.😂 🙌
This song is THE ONE I have been waiting for and the reaction DID NOT disappoint!!!!! This has got to be my favorite album by them so far. While I am sooooooooooooo sad this series is coming to a halt (until the next album:) ), I am so excited for you guys to hear how Missing Limbs ends and Chokehold begins. It was such a HELLLLLL yeahhhhhh moment when I listened to the albums back to back.
This song break me down every time one of my favorites by them, the ending hurts so much especially his scream of “ and I can hold myself together!!!!!” I feel that pain I relate to it in every way, and the musical outro breakdown, it’s so intense, I’d be lying if I said I have never lost it and broke down to it and how the beast comes in and the bassline you just feel all the emotion, “ and I know you still bare the weight of your own existence and you’ll never bare the weight of two “😢 that one stings
This is such a powerful raw one. You can feel him just suffering and suffocating in the lyrics and the music of this one. Love the reaction guys, keep it up!!
With your spacing of Sleep Token songs, I thought I'd have to wait over a week for this. So happy you're almost to the end. On pins and needles for Missing Limbs.

Missing Limbs is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. It follows High Water so well. I have had to skip Missing Limbs on several occasions when I’m not in a good head space. It’s devastating.
I love that the "I can't hold myself together" line is the final line he screams, leading right into missing limbs. Just think of that when you read the lyrics to to missing limbs. Everything is so beautifully intertwined. Great reaction again guys 💜
I always found the music throughout this one was like being submerged in water. Feels like I’ve waited a long time to get to this one. Still my favourite on the album! Missing limbs next, but I’m missing Veric!!
You guys have to go through the 1 and 2 eps. There are tracks on those eps that are right up there with their best. When the bough breaks and nazareth are 2 of my fave sleep token songs.
I've listened to all of sleep tokens songs so much, it's so refreshing to listen to them with you guys. It's like listening to them again for the first time vicariously. I gain new appreciation for each song every time you guys react to it
This song ruins me to my core. It sums up never being able to have that person ever again and the literal madness of dispair that comes with that. inescapable, like drawing at the bottom and clawing your skin off in panic and fear and wishing for escape. when the drums kick in, every single hair stands on end and tears come. every time damnit
Someone, somewhere said that the breakdown perfectly mimics the chaos of drowning and that made immense sense.

I can't wait for you guys to hear the EPs. They are amazing.
Thanks so much for the journey so far! A bright spot in my days!
This is such a powerful raw one. You can feel him just suffering and suffocating in the lyrics and the music of this one. Love the reaction guys, keep it up!!
My absolute favorite ST track.. II is an animal
With your spacing of Sleep Token songs, I thought I'd have to wait over a week for this. So happy you're almost to the end. On pins and needles for Missing Limbs.
Maybe my favorite Sleep Token tune. A bummer lyrically but I can relate
Sleep token can make me cry, rage, and help me sleep. Such an amazing band
the berried alive shirt tho. charles is probably the most underrated guitarist alive rn. criminal.
The drums in this are everything
Telomeres, High Water, and Missing Limbs is the trifecta off this album. Good luck for the next one! Have some tissues handy 😂❤
I was so fucking excited for this one! It's my favorite from the album so far
"This fucking band, dude" - me also every time I listen to ST
This song is so fucking good, especially that "I can't hold myself together"
I knew you guys would love this one, great reaction again ❤
I can't wait for you guys' reaction to the next one, it's gonna be real sad. *Worship*
Did you catch the "Jaws" synth line in there? Easter eggs everywhere.
You guys are so astute and switched-on with your analyses. You recall things from previous tracks that are so specific, it took me multiple listens to see some of the connections that you guys get straight away.
This is one of my favorites, but damn it tears me apart…
all the way from the philippines, you two are the best music commentators ever.. *so articulate and with feelings*. goddamn, silently just watching all of your videos from the past 6 months literally from the otherside of the world, theres magic between you two.. *take note of the different, awesome beer mugs/glasses that eric gulp into*... looking forward for more.. love you man. im here for one solid support! - hindi sikat na vlogger on Tiktok.
This is my favorite of TPWBYT. Absolute banger! Don’t forget the EP’s though. It’s not quite almost over yet, lol.
It’s my favourite ST song. Destroys me every time.
Top five sleep token song for me!
I’ve been listening to this song frequently the past few weeks. It’s one of my top favs
Their most underrated song in my opinion 🔥🔥🔥
Oh hello. One of my top 5 songs by them if not further up.
I always found the music throughout this one was like being submerged in water. Feels like I’ve waited a long time to get to this one. Still my favourite on the album! Missing limbs next, but I’m missing Veric!!
This is one of my favorites from them! I love the line "basking in the solace of regret" - I recognize that exact feeling.
I gain new appreciation for each song every time you guys react to it
Please react to "Is it Really You!". It is gorgeous
High Water was one of the firsts I heard from ST, still breaks me every single time. Can't wait for Missing Limbs!! Al
You guys need to react to "The Way That You Were"!
One of my all time favourite Sleep Token songs Pre-Sundowning
This song ruins me to my core. It sums up never being able to have that person ever again and the literal madness of dispair that comes with that. inescapable, like drawing at the bottom and clawing your skin off in panic and fear and wishing for escape. when the drums kick in, every single hair stands on end and tears come. every time damnit
Couldn't wait for this reaction. Insanely awesome track. Great reaction.
