Kelly, you said it perfectly. It’s an entirely different thing to see it impact your own community, and there’s no way to translate that impact. Thank y’all for talking about this. God bless you.
My niece is in school in Nashville and she is into acting, she and her fellow classmates went to the principal about taking about anything to do with guns in any of the shows they put on and then she made a speach about it before the first performance they put on the other night...i hate they feel the need to do this, but im so happy my niece is strong enough to make a stand even when the adults are acting ridiculous!!
Thank God for these two young women........... bless them may we all stand together to fix and overcome this so children can go to school and be safe ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 🙏 🤲
Thank you young women for taking on this issue! It's shameful that this is something that children and schools have to face in our country! But DONT QUIT! Keep pushing. Keep the faith. You're building coalition and you are making an impact! You will make a change! Thank you Kelly and Garth!

The song The Change both the song and the video, especially 1 certain little kid they showed thatbended up dying a day or so later, that child made both my dad and i cry so hard. I was in the 6th grade when the OKC bombing happened. I remember being in the library at my school doing something for my teacher and our librarian had the news on. I ran to get my teacher to show her what was going on. The librarian called our principal and had him come in there. We all just stood there and cried. I had a cousin in a hospital in OKC and it busted the windows. My aunt hauled ass to checked on him. I applaud these girls. I'd be there with y'all!!!! Love to you both
I cried through this interview. Those young ladies are phenomenal humans. Garth’s explanations, Kelly’s words, the truth that this just needs another look!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
What is sad is I’m in my late 40’s and the first school shooting happened when I was 24. I had two babies and that was Columbine. I can’t believe it has almost been 25 years and it just keeps getting worse. Now I have two grand babies that are growing up in this environment.
My goodness I’m such a fan of these woman! Keep up the fight and never stop using your voices for change! It might not always feel like you’re being heard but I promise you if you keep on talking even those who can’t hear you know will eventually start listening.
I started crying also Kelly. I live in fear for my son as he is still in public school. His school has had more than a handful of threats not just to his school but to all schools in the district. I hate that I have to send him to school but being in public school is something that is his choice and the minutes he asks for change I am doing it. My sons life means so much to me. I would take a bullet for my kids and all my friends and loved ones. Hell I would take a bullet it for a stranger if it meant saving a life.
Absolutely agree Garth SHAME on our generation. We have had hundreds of school shootings sense Columbine! Now our kids are going through this WEEKLY! Enough is enough
Australian and I applaud these young ladies, taking time out from university classes, trying to with the community, have the elected officials look at meaningful change to stop/ help prevent gun violence, especially in schools. Unfortunately a school in my state in Australia had a shooting incident just recently where a 15 year old student took his parents hunting rifles and hot at the school during a school day. No one was physically hurt. This young man is in custody for now, awaiting trial, but from all reports he has some mental health issues, which are and will be addressed by his parents, doctors and the law.
Sadly, this is expanding outside the classroom. In Dadeville Alabama, a sweet 16 year old birthday party resulted in 4 deaths and 32 people were shot. The pain is felt everywhere and it's not fair.
I work for a Fortune 500 company. I was told to stop dancing. I did it in hallways, the parking lot, in classes if they were playing music. Music is my church, my outlet. Now, I'm stifled.
We were only blessed with one child. She just had her 1st year as a 7th Grade English Teacher. We worry about her every day. The 1st thing her Daddy said, when we saw her classroom was, "Ok, Do those windows open and what's your exit strategy?" I've been searching high & low to buy her a huge bulletproof white board on wheels. It's friggin INSANE that only HALF the country is on board to stop this gun crap!! But on the same hand, she had about 20 instances where a 7th Grader got mad and broke every mirror in the bathroom or kicked holes in the wall or threw a desk against the wall so hard it shattered. They send the kid home then his IGNORANT parents come to the school screaming that their kid is FINE and all the teachers are just picking on him.
It's sad that kids these days have to be afraid at school the biggest thing kids should have to worry about is just being a kid or how to pass a math test
I’m not crying. You’re crying. But seriously, how can you hear the passion in their voices and not want to help change the future for our kids? How can you see this, and still ignore what’s happening in our schools, to our babies and their teachers, to their families? If you can see this and ignore it, shame on you. Do better. Be like these incredibly intelligent, passionate, articulate young women. Be like Garth and stand up in support for their effort.
I'm a little younger than Kelly but not by much. Columbine was when I was in middle school. We had lockdown drills throughout high school. Multiple bomb threats called in. And I walked out worrying what if someone called in a bomb threat to get us outside to shoot us? This was a very average suburban high school. And I only dealt with this in high school mainly. I didn't do these drills in kindergarten. We need to fix this. I don't know how, given our politicians but we need to fix it.
My grandmother was Pearl Brooks, her father was Howell Mulford. Brooks. This is by no means a brag, but Garth is a distant cousin of mine. I am so grateful that Garth is behind this movement. You are bringing honor to the Brooks name, and I thank you for it.
It is not about getting rid of our guns or changing the 2A CONSTITUTION. IT is about tackling the huge mental health and the bulling to one another. And people taking name calling to serious. And old saying is> "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names should never hurt me at all !!!"
Grown adults can stop name calling other adults and set a good example for their kids. That's a great way to start not hurting others, even if it's not physical. Can still do harm mentally.
Reasonable gun control. It's worked in every single other developed country. Every. Single. One. Does it completely eliminate all gun violence? No, but it greatly reduces.
I was born in 1962 in Sacramento, CA. In the 1970’s I was a early morning newspaper delivery boy. There was a man who would jog on cold foggy mornings and raped many boys (8-10) before he was caught. Last name Phelps. During this period we had the East Area Rapist that was recently identified. He committed over 40 rapes and several murders throughout CA. During this time we also had the Vampire Killer, Richard Trenton Chase, a serial killer in this same neighborhood. What’s changed since then???? I’ve always had evil people around me.
I know it’s not convenient, bc it’s not any easy fix, but this is a mental health and socioeconomic related. If you don’t have people who want to hurt others, gun control suddenly becomes less relevant. We’ve been increasing the number gun laws and yet we keep increasing in gun violence. Notice how things got a lot work after the pandemic? Hmmmmmmmmm……wonder why…
Weel have NOT been increasing the amount of gun regulatuons and many parts of the country, and THATS the problem. Some areas have and some haven't. And it's not a coincidence that most of the cities with the highest rate of violent crime are conservatives areas with lax gun laws. Hope this helps!

@@moistveronica6843 you're absolutely wrong. Take anything that's already illegal, say heroin for example. People still get, use, sell and make heroin every day. You know who isn't doing that? Law abiding citizens don't, that's who. Only criminals do. So by you saying that increasing gun laws will slow or stop gun violence is completely ignorant. It will stop law abiding citizens from having guns while the criminals who still want them will find a way to get them. They don't care about laws. It's very hard for me to even comprehend how people think increasing laws will stop criminals. Mind-blowing.
Ridiculous. Mental health is a world-wide problem, yet the epidemic of gun violence and, particularly, school shootings, is only in America among developed nations. Why? The insane proliferation, access, and fetishization of guns.
Garth brooks is worth $400,000,000 , Kelly is worth $45,000,000 that’s four hundred and forty five million dollars together and they donated $5,000 each to these girls 😞 😢 hell is hot y’all..
I think gaming has played a big part of the mass shootings too, as these games are all about going after the bad guy, how much of it is shooting and/or killing someone in these games.
