Hi Andrew! Thank you for the awesome video! I've been working on my garden a lot and see that there are many micorizal products out there, none of them fruit edible mushrooms as far as I can see. I believe there's a market for edible mushroom micorizal additions to the landscape; i know that there is no guarantee anything like a chanterelle or porcini is going to sprout, but on the same note, these other strains of mycorrhizae commercialy sold do not come with the promise of fruiting either. As a person with a yard, I'd much rather invest in mycorrhizae that come with even a chance(even if low) of fruiting something edible vs using mycorrhizae that will certainly never provide me edible mushrooms. I'd rather invest in the chance for edibles (even if it takes 15 years lol) over a product that will 'never' yield edible mushrooms. I know a lot of commercial mycorrhizae has shown to help crops, but there are many other ways of composting, feeding, placing crops to maximize yield. At the end of the day, I'd hands down buy an edible fruiting mycorrhizae product (w only chance) over mycorrhizae that will never yield edible mushrooms. Any ideas videos? Diy? Sellers? I know long question. Thx🙂.

Hey so I learned a nifty trick watching another RUclips video recently, I just wanted to share it... I know I'm over a year late on this video, but just found your content and love it. But basically, take syringe and pull up fresh non inoculated LC. Plunge the LC onto an agar plate, and then scrape small sections of agar with your needle to break it off the agar. Then just draw up the LC again with the syringe and sterilize and put back into the LC! (I think you sterilize in between every set, as long as flame doesn't hurt it--I've only done it once so far haha) But I thought I would share that in case you or someone else in the comments hadn't thought to do this!

Hello Mossy, thanks for the video just cool. I am in Uganda and would like to get a liquid culture kit, am finding hard to gather them up here, if I can just get a full kit including the liquid mycelium that I can expand. Thanks
First off Lenny is a badass. His normal lions mane strain would explode from the bag with such aggressive fruiting. I just got his commercial strain and i cant wait to start fruiting it! So, my question: if you were going to innoculate a 5# bag of grain with just liquid culture would you and how much?? Ive done it a few times and i put 60ccs per bag. They colonized great, but i need a hepa filter when i colonize from the grain bags to sawdust my contam rate tripled due to grains being exposed for so long.
Love LC. Would love to see a video on how you test your cultures for contamination. I also wondered if putting hydrogen peroxide into a possibly contaminated jar would kill contamination?
I haven't used LC too much, but I found my agar grows a lot faster and more consistency among all my different jars. Then again I made my culture from spores and don't know if I got contams in it. Maybe I'd have better luck with an LC inoculated with agar.
I just started growing lions mane about 2 months ago. And it has been small, successful so far and was explaining to my wife. I just made my first batch of LC and will be doing a tissue sample w syringe. Anyways. Master slants replenish agar plates. Agar plates replenish liquid culture. Liquid culture inoculated grain spawn. Grain spawn inoculates and grows the substrate. At least this makes sense to me. But like I said. I’m an absolute novice.
i have so many video watch to culture mushroom i pretty amaze to your gear used on how to make or culture in safe that not contaminate the mushroom. i have plan to also use the way you do.what can you advance with me on how to grow mushroom.thank you
Awesome video, and thanks for the links and i'll use MOSSY when ordering from the Emporium. Question, when drawing the liquid innoculum out do you always use the cloudy parts only or will the clear part of the liquid work as well? Thanks :-)
Hi. I started my subscription to your channel a while back and have enjoyed all my research. I just started my first test in growing mushrooms. I would like to ask your help. I put 6 cups of fuel pellets and 6 cups of boiling water in my bag. The substrate seems to be dry. What amount of water should I add to my next bag. Thanks for your fantastic channel.
Paul Stammets mentioned in growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms that people do it successfully, with the main issue being the tendency to pool at the bottom of the bag or jar. May have to adjust moisture content in your substrate and be careful about shaking well enough.
nice job man, I'm starting a little farm and your videos are beyond helpful. question: once your liquid culture is ready after the 10 days in the jar do you just take the liquid and squirt it onto your grain spawn? about how many blocks do you get from a jar of liquid culture? Thanks!
Hey Andrew! Firstly, I absolutely love this channel and you guys! Thanks so much for sharing. Noticed your website is looking great as well! Do you guys ship to the UK? I'd love to be able to buy some spawn and also some supplies from places like Shroom Supply - however they don't sell to the UK. Maybe there is a business opportunity to resell some of their stock to ship Internationally etc? I'm not quite ready to start growing myself yet - but hopefully soon! Thanks again brother!
$6.99 for 1 regular mouth plastic lid with an injection port and syringe filter? You can make them out of the heavy Mason brand PP5 lids for way less than that. I bailed on metal lids after my first LC batch and found the plastic easier to work with in addition to being rust free.
They don't want to tell you that any mushroom stalks can be used to make liquid mycelium you just need to grind them up in a luquidizer then add your sugars and use this mix to further produce more mix
This is an excellent recipe for contamination and probably the reason they don't want to tell you about it. There are many videos out there showing proper mushroom culturing techniques. Find a good one and follow it to the letter.
Hey Mossy Creek! I Really appreciate every video you make. They are my favorite of all mushroom videos on the internet! I saw they have 3 inch long needles on shroom supply, is that what you use to pull the liquid culture out of the jar? It’s okay if you don’t wanna give away all of your secrets

Can you inject liquid mycelium culture directly in fruiting substrate avoiding the grain process and if that's not possible how about putting grain in the top of the fruiting bag and just let it colonize the grain at the top of the bag and then spread to the fruiting substrate????????
Hi! Love your videos! Can you help me understand how to package and ship or drive for delivery? I'm in Texas and need to travel about an hour or more. I want them to be very fresh upon delivery and im shopping for packaging and vehicle modification if needed. (You know 9,000° here.) Again, your videos are so helpful!
Hi!!! I`ve been working with LC to inoculate grain. Is there any way to transfer LC directly to woodchip o sawdust? I`m working only with ganoderma. Thanks!!!
I've been under the impression you have to do lc in a clean room. I'd like to see your solution, glove box maybe? You dont seem to be scared of the green monster the way I am lol I might have to buy one of those lids just to figure out the filter design. How does filter air and no get wet? @@justinlangley9529 Looks like there is a variation of materials. Are these green ones the right kind or do I need the red ones? More expensive but I want to have the right equipment that will hold up for a long time
Pretty much any hericium, pleaurotes, or any number of "specialties". Basically that comes out to something like Lions Mane, Oysters, and things like chestnut and black poplar mushrooms.
Hi Andrew! Love your content. I've always been curious about commercial scale as well as hobby scale.. what kind of operational records do you keep (Non financial)? What kind of data do you find valuable to record and keep? Cheers.
I was going to buy needle and stuff i saw many thicknesses on the orderpage. I want to use thinnest possible needle for the seal but i don't want problem with sucking mycel. Witch thickness is best?
You will need to go through agar first. It will be covered in contamination. Do as many transfers of the strongest mycelium as it takes to get a clean culture. Then go to liquid. Spore to LC is spore + 100 other nasty things to LC
How're you liking that stir plate? I saw on amazon and almost grabbed it..What size bar are you using with it? Lenny is the man, he's given me so much advice. He'll always have my business!
Could you do an oxygenation experiment? Borrow a small cylinder of oxygen and merely fill a syringe from a clean gaseous stream and inject it into the air space above the stirring culture. My hypothesis is that low oxygen is a limiting factor in the rate of culture formation and final density.
Maybe also do aeration from a bubble stone like is done in fish tanks? Would have to push through a hepa first but seems like it could make a difference.
Hey, thanks for great vid. Well I got super tiny operation (3 grow bags of oyster) in my small flat. Liquid culture looks really awesome, but I don´t have laminar flowhood, only still air box (not 100% sterile right) so I don´t think it´s good for me, cos I can´t imagine super safe process of making it without risk of contamination - I will find out if it´s contaminated after inoculation which is too late for me... :/ (on agar I can see in 2D healthy colony that I can isolate..).
agar is more of a genetics tool, liquid culture is more of production tool

I want them to be very fresh upon delivery and im shopping for packaging and vehicle modification if needed. (You know 9,000° here.) Again, your videos are so helpful!
I pay $5 for my syringes. Seems right considering it costs next to nothing to make them & they work just as well as the more expensive ones.
What is the shaker called please? Awesome information. I'll watch it again and again
That's a magnetic stirrer in the beaker.
Making a lot of sense here, nice!
Thanks!
A general question! How long do Mycelium jars usually last? Currently trying out 4% blue agave in a 600ml mason wide mouth
Is there any way you can make a video on how to make LC, the dos and donts... btw your videos are great,
Hi!!! I`ve been working with LC to inoculate grain. Is there any way to transfer LC directly to woodchip o sawdust? I`m working only with ganoderma. Thanks!!!
I've been under the impression you have to do lc in a clean room. I'd like to see your solution, glove box maybe? You dont seem to be scared of the green monster the way I am lol
I might have to buy one of those lids just to figure out the filter design. How does filter air and no get wet? Caveman brain no understand
Oh and Ben, you're great :D
His LC jars appear to use a micron filter similar to the whatman filters people use for homemade LC jars
@@justinlangley9529 Looks like there is a variation of materials. Are these green ones the right kind or do I need the red ones? More expensive but I want to have the right equipment that will hold up for a long time
What kind of mushrooms could you grow to bring the market that you can do in your basement I'd like to start a little mushroom farm any ideas
Cheers.
I was going to buy needle and stuff i saw many thicknesses on the
orderpage. I want to use thinnest possible needle for the seal but i
don't want problem with sucking mycel. Witch thickness is best?
If your having trouble sucking the mycelium PUMP the syringe inside.
I have tub of oysters I started from the store. When I harvest I will make sporeprints to liquid culture, I wont have to buy oyster mushrooms again. 👍
You will need to go through agar first. It will be covered in contamination. Do as many transfers of the strongest mycelium as it takes to get a clean culture. Then go to liquid. Spore to LC is spore + 100 other nasty things to LC
@@masteringaquaponics4129 sterile tissue biopsy to LC, but you are welcome to do all the other step if that is what is getting you clean smaples
How're you liking that stir plate? I saw on amazon and almost grabbed it..What size bar are you using with it? Lenny is the man, he's given me so much advice. He'll always have my business!
Did you ever try this plate? The bad reviews kinda scare me
How big is your basement? It seems like you are growing tons of mushrooms. Thanks for the info
how long can you hold your culture , and can you make it go dormant and come back?
How can i get nutritious liquid in jars? I will like to inauculate it with mushrooms species i my locality. I live in Nigeria
What about cardboard soaked in liquid culture for cultivation?
Another benefit is agar is a 2d medium while LC is a 3d medium. More nutrition/area/etc
5:05 I spoke too soon, pal
Could you do an oxygenation experiment?
Borrow a small cylinder of oxygen and merely fill a syringe from a clean gaseous stream and inject it into the air space above the stirring culture. My hypothesis is that low oxygen is a limiting factor in the rate of culture formation and final density.
Maybe also do aeration from a bubble stone like is done in fish tanks? Would have to push through a hepa first but seems like it could make a difference.
What's your big hurry???
Once your LC jar is fully colonized, how can you keep it alive or preserve it?
Dude! You Rock!
How long can liquid culture be in the jar? And where do you keep yours jar, in fridge? For how long?
Hey, thanks for great vid. Well I got super tiny operation (3 grow bags of oyster) in my small flat. Liquid culture looks really awesome, but I don´t have laminar flowhood, only still air box (not 100% sterile right) so I don´t think it´s good for me, cos I can´t imagine super safe process of making it without risk of contamination - I will find out if it´s contaminated after inoculation which is too late for me... :/ (on agar I can see in 2D healthy colony that I can isolate..).
Hola, donde mantienes tu LC una vez que lo inoculas. Gracias
en el refrigerador. Gracias por ver
I enjoy your channel a lot. But I need to ask is that n upside down cross you are wearing.
Thank you, and it's a hammer not an upside down cross.
Do you get faster results when stirring? I usually keep my tissue still in the jar and it grows out to a little fuzzball in about 6 days
Hello bro how's light corn syrup worked for you?
I don't use light corn syrup. I use 5 parts corn dextrose and 1 part malt extract.
What volume liquid culture to weight of grain bag do you typically use?
Andrew, what are all the symbols on your doors and petri dishes? Old Norse blessings? :)
how long can one keep a master liquid culture for viable commercial production?
im 100% about mushrooms. loking to start a grow in so cal
Another banger vid 🙏🔥👊
