Agree completely! I mean, at least stick to the libretto! I feel so bad for the opera singers. This just doesn't make sense with the roles intended for the Countess, Cherubino, or Susanna. The more I watch this, the more confused I am.
Harnoncourt does some interesting tempo's, I don't think it fits for this song at all though. Cherubino is supposed to be a symbol of youth, vitality, and lust. It look's like he's about to have naptime. The 2006 Convent Garden is how it should be done in my opinion.
This must be the definitive version of "Eurotrash" opera- ugh. And if the production itself wasn't bad enough, the tempo is way toooo slow. Mozart must be rolling in his grave!

It seems this actually moves people because sexual tension is one of their basic instincts. ps, Either the Cherubino is a 'brick house' or she had extra bloomers. Either way, Sandy Eddy should have played this one.
