I just signed up for SS at 69. I had been paying for part B by sending in quarterly payments. Had to prepay for B
just before filing and amazingly, Medicare realized my overpayment and I just got the double payment back!! The government works!! Thank you Dr. Weir for giving us advice.

@@MyGovExpert Have not heard you cover this scenario. If one person reaches full retirement age and is drawing their own SS and wants to draw from an ex who is younger so waits until they turn 62 , will the amount be half to them of ex’s or reduced due to his younger age?

I'm going to be 65 this year. I was told i don't qualify for SS but in 2010 i was disabled and received disability for two years. SSA sued me to get my disability back. The judge ruled in MY favor and told me to go back on disability. As i was walking out of the Court the disability lawyer gave me the middle finger and said "sue us". I was very shocked and intimidated and did nothing. Ive tried in the last few years again, and have had significant trauma and accidents. Havnt Been able to keep a job and they keep refusing me. I am literally broke and broken. What should I do?

Interesting video for us. We were just told to suspend my wife's SSDI when she reaches full retirement age in 7 months. Looking for facts on this issue because we were told that her benefit would continue to grow if she suspends her benefit. Roughly, she would go from $2700/month to about $3300/month @ age 70 with the approx 8% per year increase and whatever cola increase there is, if any. Any insight to the validity of this strategy?

Good info; very committed, thoughtful to present this info; however, Americans are discussing this tax; if it is needed, is it legal or not based on the Constitution. If you have any info on this prevalent subject, this would certainly enlighten knowledge about the matter. Thank you!

Since benefits are predicted to be cut within the next 10 years I feel like I should go ahead and get locked in next yr @ age 62 instead of waiting until I reach 70 where my benefit might actually end up being less. Your thoughts?

Thank you for your service 🙏🏼. What does a common law state mean if I was only married for 6.5 years and ability to collect child support post death of ex spouse?

    Hi Dr. Ed!
    We live in Florida.
We're married well over 10 years.
I've been on SSDI & just turned 65.
Spouse is 66 (going on 67 this year), & he just went on retirement SS this year (+ is still working).
His SS Retirement is $981.00 more than mine per mth, but he doesn't get "twice as much" as I do. Does it have to be "twice" the amount you get?
If question above is negative, *IF* I were to claim SS Spousal Benefits, then I would get ~$490 extra per mth (on top of my SSDI).
*BUT,* (an important question I'm sure a lot of people wonder) will *HIS* benefits be reduced in any way bc I'm taking spousal SS benefits on his benefits? I (& we) don't want that to happen. But if we can get more money, we'll both be ok with that! 😃
Which raises yet another question: When on SSDI, when will SSA switch me to SS Retirement *AT* age 65 -- *OR,* at my FRA of 66 + 10 mths?
*IF* it's 66 + 10 mths, would I have to wait until then (vs. turning 65) to collect SS Spousal Benefits?
    Thanks Dr. Ed! 😊

I am receiving disability when I turn 60 in order to receive survivor benefits from my ex-husband who I was married to for over 10 years, do I have to take into consideration if his retirement benefits were twice as much as mine?

Depends of the state. Some states common law does not consider it. You must be married.

A spouse if married can only receive spousal benefits if their spouse has retired themselves.
