  • Thanks to Alan for the tip - I went to see this going on, as I'd seen it from a distance last year. Fascinating. The farmer is keen to run his farm without damaging the environment and this is part of it. Plus, willow crops stabilise the field when the river sweeps over it in Winter.
    As you can see, the rods are inserted in the machine and it stuffs them into the ground and cuts them off, at around 8" length.
    Part Two will also show some of last year's crop growing nearby.
