  • What a wonderful plant catmint is. Not only does it smell, and look good, it’s also tough. Great companion plant to most other flowers that’s good for pollinators. Strongly consider adding catmint to your garden.

Yes I love catmint. We are in 7b zone and it seems hardy .

I have four 4" pots of catnip growing in my cat's catio. I don't think I'll ever need to trim them. 😏 In fact, I think I'm going to have to go buy a lot more just to have a chance that some might survive. Sheer numbers. 😑

This video was about catmint not catnip. That’s going to be one very happy cat.

I got lots of Walker's Low this year, super cheap. 1 quart perennial, they looked thin & straggly, most i just left them alone & watered & WOW... have they filled in...no pruning, deadheading or cutting back. The one I did cutback seemed to take forever to comeback.
Do I need to cutback if they are still blooming great?

Cut back after the blooms have turned brown and they should bloom again in the fall. Don’t cut all the way down to the ground just cut back to where the new growth has grown. You can see all the new growth when you part all the old growth. Thanks for your reply and don’t forget to subscribe, and if you have anymore questions feel free to reach out.

I got Catmint this year and I also found out it does not like much water because I watered it everyday for a few months and the flowers died, but new ones are growing. I dont get it, why does cutting it make it grow better?

Lift and divide your catmint every 2-3 years for a happy plant.
Cutting doesn’t make it grow better, cutting after the first blooms have died will give you a second bloom later in the year.

Tip: Don’t put your face in it to smell it. You might interrupt some bees 😳
