    Also part of your Top Clown cost was the *additional gas you spent on the additional miles, and the *added depreciation to your auto parts which you would not have added. The additional depreciation thing is the hardest factor to quantify because from that point on you're always driving the vehicle on a higher amount of wear, so all wear you incur from that point forward accrues more quickly since the car is more worn down to begin with. Day after day. Snowballs.

    Hey Nuggs. I agree with your assessment on top dasher. I live in West LA and I was a top dasher for 2 months. Not worth it man! I had to take too many crappy orders to maintain that status. Now I cherry pick and make more than I did when I was top dasher. Gas prices, lack of parking, constant traffic, car maintenance etc make it not profitable to maintain top status here. You can't drive 12 miles for $7.00 where I am. It's just not a smart option for a driver.

    It's worth considering, speaking for California, that because of our minimum wage and Prop 22, our minimum hourly ACTIVE rate is $18/Hr. Even if you take long mileage, lower paying orders, doordash will bump you up at the end of the week to that minimum. As long as you are actually on an order you are making 18 bucks an hour, so it can be good to stay active instead of waiting for golden orders. Obviously the problem with that is that lower paying orders seems to often mean lower tips, which doordash doesn't compensate you for.

  • @Alexandra-fz7lk
    @Alexandra-fz7lk 2 года назад +1

    One thing that gets an automatic decline from me is food bank orders. I did that once, I figured, I have a Kia Sedona minivan, so I can do that...found out it's like $2 per delivery average, and I was going all over Akron, including some sketchy areas. Not worth it IMO.
    Today I was doing Wadsworth/Barberton like I usually do, and it kept on trying to throw a food bank order at me (Akron/Canton regional). I kept declining and it STILL kept throwing it at me...my acceptance was at around 75% and it plummeted to 24%. WTF. Even though I kept selecting "I don't want to go to this store." Get a clue! It was so slow, and all I kept getting was Walmart (another automatic decline) and food bank, I said "screw you guys, I'm going home." LOL
    So...forget about being top dasher. Besides, I travel with my teenaged son, who's on the autism spectrum and can't be left home alone. Generally he's quiet, he just watches videos on his phone. Still, an 8 hour day is out of the question because he'll get antsy, and I don't blame him.

    • @richardreinertson1335
      @richardreinertson1335 2 года назад +1

      Lately the app has kept throwing orders at me that I keep declining. Now my strategy is, if it throws me a declined order, I decline again and immediately end my dash. Then I wait a few minutes hoping someone else will take the order, then I start a new dash - which, as top dasher, I can do any time. This has worked so far, but it still pisses me off that the app does this. If you decline an order, the app should never throw it at you again.

    My market would be dumb to try to be a top dasher. The zone I am in encompasses what are actually two cities next to each other. The NW area is a college town and the rest is just an average city. Because of the college town being on one side of the main road with all the restaurants and the nice neighborhoods being in the NE area the best place to wait for orders has be sifting through like 5 terrible orders to get to 1 GREAT order. But all those orders get sent to me in about a 5 minute span of time so cherry picking rarely hurts that much. Plus since it is a college town the whole zone is constantly considered busy and other than like 3-4 on week days I can dash without a schedule regardless.

    Sucks we have over 250k people in our area it is all one zone but we have to many full time dashers and out of town dashers coming here🤬 now if your not a top dasher you won't be able to schedule a shift now. It sucks 😭 you can even go a week out and they will have like a 1 hour shift, a last minute shift and then sometimes not even a shift to schedule 🙃 so have to keep that top dasher 🤷‍♂️ and it seems to always be busy strange 🤔🤦‍♂️

    This is the realest and most honest video ever recorded (and edited 🙌) on the topic. Thanks for testing this Nuggs! (shouts to Blake too he's equally been doing it). I didn't dash enough my first month to see a difference. But this is super informative. DoorDash definitely wants everyone to accept every order to become Top Dasher so their "completion" rate is on fire. I got approved today for Uber Eats, where you're always a TOP "Uber-er" lol. Looking forward to multi-apping for more choices. I love DoorDash though, I make solid money with it, and I just started in July so their my first boo lmao. Thanks Nuggs you are a SOLDIER...for SCIENCE.

    Couldn't agree more that top dasher is BS. The quality of my orders went down drastically since the days I spent taking garbage orders to get top dasher. I was getting catering orders and amazing shop and deliver orders with my acceptance rate in the 20's and haven't seen any since becoming top dasher. I will say all of my Walmart orders have been good since becoming top dasher. Bottom line I'm making far less as top dasher and not really catching any breaks. Never again.

    I wouldn’t dash in cities unless I’m on a bike because of parking, traffic, and everyone living in sky high apartments. I once waited 20minutes for a guy to come down and lost a lot of time. Secondly, if it’s not in a 5mile range I’m not doing it idc how much it’s paying. And lastly, I always dash 1st thing in the morning @ 5:50am just when McDonald’s are opening as well as the coneys. No long lines, clear traffic, and I can usually “dash now” instead of waiting or scheduling. I average 5 orders per hr between 6am-8am earning at least $40. Which is what I’m happy making for the day using only $5 in gas.

    If DD can send you an order with no tip then they can give you orders with better tips. Top dasher has made an easy life for me in my market and yes I do turn down orders. I drive more miles because of the rural area but the tips are better because of the wealthier customers.

    This is pretty discouraging as unless a dasher has an absolutely horrible rating everyone in the same area should be getting the same offers. Otherwise it is totally unfair. That said, as long as everyone is at least getting enough orders to work it still beats a 9-5 W2 job where you have zero freedom during work hours and ungodly stress.

    Definitely won’t be doing it in my market. 9 dollars for 17 miles or a 6 mile 7.75 order tries to stack for an extra 5.50 for an additional 17.6 miles like it’s ridiculous. That $10.25+ offer screen you see for 3.6 miles could pay out $56. Cherry pickers are fools. All ego, beating their chests saying I only accept good orders. You know what? Top dashers accept almost all offers, cuz algorithm likes it “take this $6 for 2.8 miles n I’ll send you this nugget.” 2nd order pays out $39.96 for 20 minutes work. You don’t take either? You get trash orders. Game up people! I don’t make RUclips videos but after 3 years dashing? I’ve figured out some things. “Take this small order n drive to this area n you’ll get a banger order nearby paying big.”

    • @lmondragon88
      @lmondragon88 Год назад

      @@laureens4357 Sorry but that’s not how it works. As someone that has an 85% rate in the market I am in now I can tell that accepting all orders still makes no different. It didn’t work when I was in the other market where I normally kept a 20-30% rate and now in the market rate I am in i keep a 75%+ rate and have been top dasher multiple times and accepting all orders does not matter. It really is market dependent and you have to take orders that make sense to you. I’ve been in both types of markets and many in between across cities, counties, and state lines.
