Day 1 I earned $29. Day 2 and 3 I made $50 by just choosing a better time to go. I get to listen to music and drive. Tomorrow my dad needs to go somewhere in downtown Dallas so I’m going with him and while he spends his day busy, I’m gonna run around and take orders in a place where someone I met said he makes $200-$250 a day.

I agree with all the tips except for one. I found it much better to drive between hotspots than to sit at one. I've gotten far more orders driving around. The only time I would say to sit put is if it's really slow bit even them, I've had better with driving around.
I live right up the street from all the fast food chains in my town. Started dashing tonight, delivered 3 Jack In the Box orders, 53 min active time, made $30. Not too shabby.
I just signed up to be a dasher this morning and I wanted a better idea of what I was getting myself into. Thank god I came across this video it was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much! Left a like and subscribed!
I did my research first and today was my first day. Long story short I finished with almost $80 with 3 active hrs. 1 good take away is to not rush because I do know I was super early for sure for at least dropping off three which was stressful only because I was new to this and took on two orders at least three or four times in the same area or same restaurant. This being my first time was stressful but I managed with no hiccups
I've started three days back but I couldn't grab much orders and literally when I start to make 2 order, my scheduled time finish and I can't work , I don't know why I can't extend my slot ???
I would love to see a video that walks me and talks me through a full door dash after the fact... so record it in the moment, leave that hard to focus background music out, and talk me slowly through the process of an order coming in - what do you look at, what helps you to decide whether to take the order or not, what are the things you consider? Once you take the order, talk us through the details of how the app works from there. My first order took me forever to figure out how to do everything in a timely manner and I ended up getting tagged as not having delivered it on time, when in fact, I had delivered it at least 5-10 minutes early. Also, where do you put your purse? Some of the areas I deliver to are not the most trustworthy and full of character, integrity, and respect. I worry about my purse when I jump out to run a delivery up to a house. Things I found hard to figure out on my first day dash today: 1. How do I look at the screen and know whether it is worth my time and drive? 2. How do I know what the full amount of miles will be? 3. Once finished, do I drive back toward a hotspot to pick up another delivery or stay where I'm at? 4. Is there a way to tell where I'm being sent ahead of time? (I live in Indiana and it sent me across the border to a rough neighborhood in Illinois today. I grew up in a neighborhood like that and I know what goes on. I was not prepared and should never have been over there.) 5. How do you go into the app and send the customer a text? Are you doing this through the app or through your own text message? 6. I actually live in a rough and unsafe area... How do I drive to a safer area where I can work? Do I have to find the hotspot or can I just go to the area and then pick up orders from there? 7. What app or process do you use for tracking mileage, vehicle maintenance, etc? 8. I know I'm missing some things. For a type A - Highly sensitive personality and a total introvert (functional introvert but nonetheless...), I was a little overwhelmed with it all. I wish I could have had time to play in a "test" version to really learn my way around the app and figure out how to navigate it but because they don't offer that, I need a video that at least takes the time to show these things - and preferably, a previously recorded dash that has been gone back through and voiced over to explain everything...
I know if you open up the app, the red busy areas you can click on them and hit navigate and once you arrive in that zone you can dash there. I like to go away from the bad neighborhoods lol (although sometimes it’ll end up taking me right outside of Englewood in Chicago as thats where the customer is). I’ve noticed the restaurants are almost always inside the zone, but the customers can be anywhere outside of it.
Well first of all I would recommend not taking a purse if you're that worried about it... I understand there are things women have to keep on them no matter what, but these things can be stored in easy to access locations in your car. As far as the other stuff, I'm just starting Dashing today :P So I don't have any info on that lol
Great Tips! I watched your videos when I was considering starting DoorDash and I feel like your advice helped me hit the ground running when I started as a Dasher! You learn so much as you go in the gig economy! I'm glad I decided to just jump in and give it a shot, I learned a lot!
I was really lucky that I had several hot and cold bags that were gifted to me (and the whole company) from my regular job. Only problem is that they say the local hospital name and logo really large on the side. But I just leave those in the car. Lol
what do u mean by the red card? If they have the app, why would u need to use a red card to pay for their order. Shouldnt it all be done before u pick it up?
Don’t rush is a really big one, especially with drinks. I went to Goodwill and got a few good size purses/totes and baby blankets for my insulated bags. I take the bags with me into restaurants so I can pack the order into the bag and keep it at temp, plus very stable so it doesn’t spill as I load/unload. I take the bag to the door and unload it there, so it’s at good temp. Customers appreciate it.

You don't get a starter kit, until after delivering for a while. Not sure if that's a new policy, and this video was published before that changed, but I just started, and they told me I won't get a bag or a red card until I've delivered for a couple of weeks. Just thought you should know.
#3 was my burning million dollar q! Where should dashers hang out to get set for the next order. So thanks. I’m new starting today ( New Years Day 2023) and I look forward to making some needed cash.
Hello Mike. Thanks for all you do. My question here is as most of the orders come in their own bags, when do you consider taking your bag into a restaurant to receive orders. Or do you always take it in no matter what the order is? And I'm guessing you have various sized bags for different sized orders. So when do you determine when it's appropriate to use these bags?
The door dash bag is crappy. Too small for one. I bought a couple off Amazon and reinforce the side so it would stand up with cardboard in the interior it’s much larger and I can hold a lot more sometimes I bring the bag in because that way the employees know right away it’s DoorDash it just depends though. I have a separate drink carrier sometimes the cardboard ones they give you are really not secure enough
Do u know if its an apartment building or a certain neighborhood before u hit accept or do u have to accept the order to then see the details? I really only want to do residential houses.
it says that AFTER accepting. or i would decline apartments all day. however if u dont want to do it that badly u can unassign the delivery and doordash will ask why. say u dont wanna go to that residence
I did my first dash yesterday and it was a disaster because my phone kept buffering and I never got the customers address so I had to return the product.
With winter coming, what do you recommend about trying to find apartments’ addresses in the dark? I based my decision on taking certain orders knowing fast food are usually apartment Renters. I also don’t take the bait with stack orders that are extremely low which Door Dash tries to sneak in all the time since that lame order has been declined by other dashers.
Hello, a subscriber recommended the Beans app which is GPS for apartments; I've been experimenting with that. DD also does a good job of showing you exactly which building to deliver to even within complexes. Last resort I'll stop at the complex map if I'm lost.
Just started dashing. The app will not give you any orders until your in the zone that your scheduled to work in. It tells you in a yellow banner to get back to the hotspot areas to receive an order. I sat in a non hotspot area and it was the only times i didn't get an order within 10 minutes.
Serious question. Why do I care to "stand out" to restaurants because I purchased an extra door dash bag🎒? If anything that tip should be to keep more food fresh when you have multiple orders.
Active Time - time spent on a dash, from "Accept" to "Order complete" and Dash Time is total time spent "online" (from hitting dash now to hitting end dash).
Do you have or can you do a video for deductions? How to calculate gas, maintenance, repairs ect... I put in work last week made abour $725 but nearly $300 in gas (18mi/gallon ugh) do I deduct gas from earnings then calculate taxes based on whats left of is it based on total earnings?
Hate when it does that 😠 I am scheduled for one zone and than it slowly pushes me way away from my zone because it gives me other orders and I end up wasting so much gas.
Make sure to check that dollars:mile also make note of the ending destinations before accept so you'll know what you're getting yourself into as far as positioning.
I don't like the new rule of having to be monitored 24/7 by DD now. Of course there is a work around but what right do they have of knowing where I am 24/7? Independent contractor?
Hello, go to "Help" and select the order then select cancel delivery. Full breakdown: help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/How-can-I-unassign-myself-from-an-order?language=en_US
Started doing door dash a few days ago I had a decent and 2 ehhh so so days and have had bad luck with the tipping should I not accept order that don't have tips 🙃?
Hey Mike - looking to maybe get into this business since I'm unemployed due to the Covid-19. How many miles do you typically drive on a normal or busy day?
What if you're in an area that you know is busy due to the fact that you're surrounded by restaurants but the app is saying "schedule" instead of "dash now"? Is there a way to change it to "dash now"?
Thank you for your door dash and uber eats videos!! Is there a way to start gps automatically when accepting a dash order? Or do i have to always click the google map button??
@@UniUnknown i heae you, before the pandemic going to panda was usually kinda awkward, everyone ignores you, its always busy, so you have to practically stick your phone with the order in their face, lol, but now its almost grab and go, much better than before, that sucks you got deactivated did someone complain on you?
@@kathleeny899 also waited kinda long at Buffalo wild wings, like 25 minutes and there were other dashers waiting so ill think twice about accepting a order from them, never did Dennys but the offers I remember were always low for them so unless its a nice payout you won't see me there lol...
Lol! Chili's is a little odd too. I dont know about your market but with me DD wants to send me like 10 to 11 miles with an 8.00 pay out or something 😂😂
I started from home n it's better than going outside eventhough I'm ending up in the Boondocks on unpaved roads at night. Hard to see address because of no light or very dim light n my car ends up Dirty n wear on my tires. I drive a LEXUS n no tips isn't worth it!
I know you can write off business expense like mileage but does Doordash and Ubereats count toward your social security earnings history? Like you mentioned you need to set aside some money for taxes at the end of the year but once you deduct all that mileage it reduces your social earnings.
When u say home u mean my house lol? I usually go sit at the mall close to many hot spots but the hot spots look confusing on the app sometimes I sit all morning
Turn off your car, remember the old rule , if its running and you aren't moving, your getting 0 miles per gallon, just a thought , it will save you money in the future!!
I did my first 2 hours yesterday and in 2 hours of biking around, an order never even popped up. I'm a little lost to be honest. Any advice mentorship?
You may not be covered under your personal policy but most major carriers have supplemental insurance for these gig apps and they're not too much more per month

nothing to be nervous about, very simple. Only tough "factor" is long wait times - finding houses
Can I do this without the bag and red card or should I wait until I receive them?
You are the best Mike, info is helping lots. ty
Great video. You are good on cam, and I'll bet, anything you do. Thanks for sharing.
I'm a new subbie and also going to Dash later on. Thanks for your help.
How do you unassign? I havent figured that out yet 🙁
@@erikasteck2395 Top right - can't do this order. But it does affect your completion rate.
question, so if I decline an order and I dinged for that, or do I let it time out ( not accepting). thank you!!!
Do you keep track all your miles during your whole session . Or turn on and off in between trips
I track until I’m done for the day.
I don't do the zone I live in.I do the one East of me.Alit easier than the one I live in
Just started today! Thanks for the tips!
Hi! Thanks for the tips!
Should i watch my dash time or active time?
More excellent info! Thanks!!
Thanks again for a great Video. So helpful, and great reminders for even some of us drivers that have been in the game for a bit.
Glad to help!
Need 240 more to get $600 bonus!!! Wis me luck! Hey, nice video man!
thank you for the info
I don't like the new rule of having to be monitored 24/7 by DD now. Of course there is a work around but what right do they have of knowing where I am 24/7? Independent contractor?
Agreed.
Great advice.
How do you cancel a delivery? I can't figure that out.
Hello, go to "Help" and select the order then select cancel delivery.
Full breakdown: help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/How-can-I-unassign-myself-from-an-order?language=en_US
I hope all doordash staff wud kindly remind restaurants whose job it is to fill n seal cups. The restaurants', if u were wondering.
I'm in San Diego. Thanks.
Bro,I am doing better taking your advice.keep it up
That's awesome good job!
Red card orders kinda suck. Especially shopping at dollar general. The store is a mess and it’s hard to find the items, if they are even in stock.
Hang on... I never got any of these bags or such yet... Only the card through the store.
Sing the miles would help me make a better decision
When I first began dashing I waited over 45mins for an order to be prepared. I was very upset and vowed to never accept an order from this place.
Thanks for the tips
Started doing door dash a few days ago I had a decent and 2 ehhh so so days and have had bad luck with the tipping should I not accept order that don't have tips 🙃?
Hey Mike - looking to maybe get into this business since I'm unemployed due to the Covid-19. How many miles do you typically drive on a normal or busy day?
Don’t doit, you will make more money with unemployment.
@@Tony-sx8mm leech off the gov and be a bum even when you can find jobs… sad!!!!!
Hi! Why is there a promos schedule I know you would get the same promos if you just click dash now. Is there any differences?
You can
So what I learned is that in my small state I'm not going to make hardly anything for money, I'll continue out of fun lol
I stop dashing before dark as I live in a suburb town with dark streets and I can’t read houses numbers.
I really want to know what I need to do for paying for taxes by myself? Thank you.
联系会计师事务所然后把你一年DOORDASH挣的明细带上,美国这边是每年4月开始报税
What if you're in an area that you know is busy due to the fact that you're surrounded by restaurants but the app is saying "schedule" instead of "dash now"? Is there a way to change it to "dash now"?
there are probably already too many dashers in your area so the only option is to schedule
@@yyaksok5039 thanks ma'am. 👍🏽
I start driving tomorrow I’m nervous, also I got my red card but no bag guess I’ll be buying my first one lol
Thank you for your door dash and uber eats videos!! Is there a way to start gps automatically when accepting a dash order? Or do i have to always click the google map button??
Generally speaking be careful with promotions like the popeys/chik fil a chicken sandwich for example, i waited 1 hour for 1 order, never again.
Never do Popeyes or Panda Express, got deactivated cause of Panda Express
I avoid both, and Denny's.
If you're on DD watch for some GPS to take you on backroads or alleys and stay safe out there
I know you can write off business expense like mileage but does Doordash and Ubereats count toward your social security earnings history? Like you mentioned you need to set aside some money for taxes at the end of the year but once you deduct all that mileage it reduces your social earnings.
Hi Roman, I can't answer that one. I would consult with the appropriate financial advisor
When u say home u mean my house lol? I usually go sit at the mall close to many hot spots but the hot spots look confusing on the app sometimes I sit all morning
Thanks so much
The allure of this work iS fading fast best to look elswhere in the job market
La Jolla and Del Mar. You in SD?
They ask for.a order number did have it did not know where to look
Is it normal to not have any orders pop up for hours?
No it might just be the location
So for taxes, If you're someone who usually gets a refund, can't you just pay whatever tax you owe out of that? Or just get a smaller refund?
You file it all together and they just take the total.
Now you say park and wait , now do i turn my car off or do i live it running ?
Leave *
Turn off your car, remember the old rule , if its running and you aren't moving, your getting 0 miles per gallon, just a thought , it will save you money in the future!!
I would shut the engine off if you are waiting.
And find ur restaurant that always has short delivery and hang there all day I make the most chilling at McDonald's
I did my first 2 hours yesterday and in 2 hours of biking around, an order never even popped up. I'm a little lost to be honest. Any advice mentorship?
what is the ABN number and how do I go about getting one??
Delivery sounds good for money but it seems really risky to do in regards to insurance. I don't think your going to be covered?
You may not be covered under your personal policy but most major carriers have supplemental insurance for these gig apps and they're not too much more per month
Ive been dashing for a month and never got a welcome kit lol
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, fast is great
