    Which glue should be used for shoe design?

    • @ICANMAKESHOES
      @ICANMAKESHOES  10 месяцев назад

      Hi there 🌟 It depends on which step of the making process you are at. If you're just glueing pieces together to hold them in place whilst you stitch, I would recommend using a water based glue (icanmakeshoes.com/collections/all-products/products/shoemaking-glue-water-based-200g). However, if you're glueing something like your soles onto your shoes, I would recommend using a strong shoemaking glue (icanmakeshoes.com/collections/all-products/products/shoemaking-glue-solvent-based-125ml)

    I discovered your channel yesterday and was curious how much it would cost me to get the starter kit. I went to your shop to check out the prices but I couldn't find what shipping/handling/vat costs are until I typed in my data and went to the checkout. I did not finish checkout. I had to click "accept terms and conditions" to even see how much shipping etc would be and then decided it is more than I can afford at the moment so I closed the tab. After that I received a "Welcome to the family!" Email without asking or subscribing to anything. That really creeped me out. I don't know how rules are in UK but here in Europe it is an "opt-in" thing with mailing lists, not opt-out. Being "spied" for my mail adress for just looking at the prices had a bitter taste to me.

      Hey there 👋 That's really strange - did you sign up to our 10% off pop-up? We're actually in our email provider right now doing some updates, so we'll flag this with them straight away. In the meantime feel free to click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email

      @@ICANMAKESHOES No, I didn't get the 10% code. I downloaded the free ballerina pattern- but 10 min after I got the welcome mail from the (aborted) checkout. Then, of course, it would have been logical that you want my mail adress in exchange for the free pattern

    question, my kid has a very bubbly toe, so most toeboxes are too flat for her, it is our biggest issue when purchasing shoes for here, how would I adjust the pattern, if I were to purchase it?

    • @ICANMAKESHOES
      @ICANMAKESHOES  4 месяца назад

      In this case, I would build up the shoemaking last that you are intending to use for her using cork. Then I would tape up the last and draw on the pattern and then add the necessary allowances. I have an old video here demonstrating how to do this: ruclips.net/video/F1Yw0MvM3y4/видео.html OR you can sign up to my Online Course 😊 icanmakeshoes.com/products/online-footwear-masterclass-course

      We do men's brogues etc don't specifically have men's sneakers options at the moment - but if this is what you're looking for I'd recommend checking out London Sneaker School, they're the best! 🌟

    Could you use quilting clips instead of glue, or would the leather be thin enough that it might show imprint of the clip? Love these tutorials, I have the box to make one, I have your book ...I just haven't found surface materials. If I can make it over there for a long vacation, I'll try to fit in one of your classes.

      Ooo this isn't something I've tried before but could definitely be a great option - although I must say glueing is the easiest way to keep things in place whilst you stitch! 🌟
