In this video, I'll teach you how to whip up a pair of sandals in under and hour. There is so much freedom to get creative with your straps and strap placement with sandals. You don't need any lasts for this step and there is no sewing either!

Very wise
PLEASE do not put yourself in front of a window to film. This is called backlighting. It makes it difficult for your audience to see you or what you are working on. It can also make you look a bit like you are in witness protection. The film industry can get away with this because they have twenty foot high bank light panels to offset the backlighting. Cover the windows, or film from the light towards yourself. (Former Filmmaking 101 and broadcast journalism 101 teacher)

Came here, cause i want to learn how to make my own shoes. I am a SPECIAL size, of which hardly any shoe makers carry. I have to improvise, by purchasing CHILDREN'S shoes, i am 54 years old. It's getting old!!! thank you for the information!!! I don't have a shoe last, and do NOT know where to begin. I've always been interested in fashion shows, and such cause of my soap opera. And watching Victoria secret's fashion shows. Hope this makes sense. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for this tutorial!!! my feet are funny, i think i would feel insecure about wearing sandals!!! thanks!!!

What type of glue do you recommend?

Where did you get your EVA foam sheets? I can’t find them 5mm thick anywhere.

These are great! My wife and I want to have a crack at making a pair of shoes for ourselves.

May I ask you, if your used veg leather is a special one that it doesn’t have to be stitched?
If you're not lining your leather, you won't need to stitch it 😊

Can you do a video on heel caps. I have heels without caps and want to use them. Also i have heels with black caps but i want brown. Can you explain which materials i could look at and how to trace the pattern. How to cut etc.

Well she did give instructions for making them simply use your feet for patterning and follow the instructions as she described it will be made for your foot size.

What's the measurement for the two holes on the insole? My teacher said you will measure 2 inches or something.please tell me.thanks

oooo, I want to make these while I wait for your online course to open back up. Where can I find tan EVA foam for the soles? The only EVA foam I can find online is white and black. Also, how wide are the strips?

Where do you get the insoles
The insoles used here are vegetable tanned leather - you can get a piece from your local leather shop and cut it to size :)

Oh! It's a "foam"?
EVA stands for Ethylene-vinyl acetate, it’s a dense foam used regularly in shoemaking 😉 Thanks for the comment though, its a really good point!
