She doesn't even know they're called veggies, and I've never once said "eat your veggies ", or even "eat your food " once, EVER.

Agree. That’s when you know a dad is a great dad. We used to grin if ours pretended to get really angry, and then he’d start laughing too, as we all knew it was acting. He cld be strict when he needed to be, if we needed discipline or risked hurting ourselves by messing around - but he was so much like this NZ dad - was so kind and educational and fun - and never once lost his temper with us, his whole life. We miss him. Xx

When we are cooking together, he will literally try anything, even things I don't want him to: capers, raw garlic, cardamom pods...I often have to restrain him. And then when we sit down to eat, he is much more likely to try things that he "made."
