      Don’t do it! It’s a trap! Getting an easy baby is like Russian Roulette. It’s a total crapshoot! Especially if they end up having any issues - disabilities, diseases, skin conditions, colic, etc. Also harder if you’re having breastfeeding problems or are pumping milk. The struggle is REAL.
      I never slept well with my first until she was 4 and grew out of the fever seizures she had with every cold she got at daycare. Had to monitor her for quickly spiking temperature throughout the night, every night she was sick, every time she was sick. And kids that age are not good at keeping their germs to themselves.
      Baby #2 currently seems to have eczema and wakes me up multiple times a night , fussing in his sleep and rubbing his skin raw, even bloody the other night. This is even with his little baby mittens on. 😓

    For all those that are freaking out about the CIO method: the purpose of going in every once in a while IS for the reassurance that they are not alone. I have a baby that cries as soon as his feet touch the ground BEFORE I EVEN LET HIM GO. He knows that I love him but the next step is learning that it was much easier for me to do things while I was carrying him in the womb as opposed to when he's a 22-lb bag of flour on my hip! Not all babies cry because they need something other than someone's arms but when those arms are not available, there's nothing left to do but let them cry it out. They're going to understand eventually that there is safety outside of a trusted adult's arms around.
    But in all honesty, everyone should just do what they feel is best for their child. All these parenting videos show what works for them, but nothing is a one-size-fits-all. Whatever you choose to do, just do it with love and they'll be fine.

      Studies have shown that the cortisol levels of babies that are left crying stays high after they stop crying. They are not self soothing, they are still just as desperately stressed, but they have given up calling for help. This advice is directly harmful to the development of their brain and their trust in you as their parent.

    • @justinspencer983
      @justinspencer983 5 лет назад +19

      Eloyns Eloyns this is more based on need for very young babies. The idea is that they depend on you for needs and when crying they want this need fulfilled. it also depends on the baby’s temperament to a point. It’s not something that going to greatly harm the baby to slowly like in this video to let them cry out if you can’t solve the issue. Parents have a minimal effect on the actual child normal psychology from these actions babies have temperaments and it more biological. Real harm is cause on neglect and or abuse. Leaving your child after having comfort it is not going to cause as much as affect that this study is probably looking at. It also may help a parent to start to build habits of feeding times for non infants. I understand what your saying and that this study is probably very real but the amount of effect and application it has in common parenting is probably very small.

      @@justinspencer983 It's true what they said, though. There are books about it. A baby is not manipulating you when they, cry, they really need the comfort. Sometimes it's just holding their hand, I'm telling that from experience. They can't know you're trying to make them more independent or whatever, they need you and want you there. Of course it's tiring, but, that's just what they need. Like being fed regularly

    To be honest, a pain cry is well different from a pooey nappy cry, which is different from a hungry cry. You work out the difference pretty quick. But good advice with the check list, just a reminder when they break out in a "I don't know what's wrong" cry!

    I had both my kids sleep trained by CIO method and it totally worked for us as a fam. They are now 4 and 7 and they both have been sleeping through the night without a problem for years. There are some rare instances from the younger one (like if she is sick or something else keeping her up) but we ride those out and give her extra care and attention. Bedtimes are fairly easy. It's the waking up for school and daycare that are hard these days.
    Both are loving and independent when they want to be. Both girls have ZERO shy bone in their body. Have always been people persons. Never had problem with either of them transitioning to daycares (both at 2 yo). Sometimes they get clingy of course, but over all they are fairly secure. So it worked out for us. And me and my husband get a decent night of sleep, which makes us much better parents/humans. I can go without sleep, I trained myself with the first when she was a newborn to just push through. My husband is much worse with that haha
    We also started sleep training AFTER 3 or 4 months or so. Can't remember exactly. You definitely DO NOT sleep train a newborn.
    The only thing you can do is start establishing the difference in night and day in terms of how you interact with your baby. But you still pick them up and cuddle them as much as they as for.

    I let my kid cry it out exactly ONE time. Turned out I didn't have enough milk and my little precious dude was hungry !! I still feel bad about that shit. If they're crying, something is WRONG. All jokes aside, I don't cry for no reason and neither does a baby !!!
