As an Italian I find his accent hilarious! That "Monsters, vieni!" is so grammatically incorrect that I laughed XD
"Monsters, venite!" Monsters is a plural noun, so the verb should be plural too. But I understand that's a totally different kind of grammatical rules, so these kind of errors are perfectly acceptable (and funny)!

Here's hoping that Dragon Quest 8 will be ported on the Switch with everything included in the 3DS version. I've been wanting to play this game for quite a long time now, especially since I beat Dragon Quest 11 a while back. ^^

As much as I love this game, it would have been really nice to see this as a launch title for the Switch. Imagine an HD version of this game as a launch title. I'd buy it...

I know. I just feel on the 3DS, it's being held back. It looks fun though, just wish it was on a console.
So many years playing dragon quest 8 (Ps2) And today 18-3-2020 I realize that there is this beautiful game and to be able to play with that character and see skills that I never expected to see, I need a 3DS and that game. ¡¡¡NOW!!!
This is looking to be the definitive edition of an already great game.

I thought i'd be able to resist this game since i've beaten it on ps2 and The Switch is right around the corner.. but man, this reminded me of how charming this entry was and of course has extra characters etc.. Well dang. I'm getting it after all.

I have never played a dragon quest game before, and I wanted to get some input. Is this a good game to start with or do I have to actually start from the beginning?
You can start from any entry in the series, given the fact that each Dragon quest game has a self contained story. So one doesn't continue from another. Although I have yet to play this one in particular, I've heard from so many people that this is one of the best, if not the best entry in the series.

im so confused only dragon quest i played is builders and only the demo at that im planning on playing as many as i can is there a timeline or is it like final fantasy in the case that every game has different people and places unless it says it's a sequal like x,x-2 and iv,iv after years
Alex Feliciano they're all standalone except for 1,2, and 3 which 1 was first then 2 was a sequel but 3 was a prequel to 1
you can go at them in any order,stories are standalone
Alex Feliciano no time line dude. they are all stand alone stories, though 4-6 are part of a trilogy. 7 is one of the LONGEST in the franchise. The main games are different from builders as they are grindy, and lengthy RPGs. they are as classic, as classic can get.
you can go in any order you like, but really recommend playing DQ 7 3DS first then get DQ 8 3DS, you can play all the other games later, start with DQ 5, 6, and 4 then 9.

for anyone who played this game, do I recruit Morrie as I progress the main story or is it side quest based?
You get Morrie after beating Rank X I think, so yea you have to complete the monster dungeon side quest.
So when will this release on the PS1?

I would like to know too, but I assume they're about as interconnected as Final Fantasy.
the newer games are more user friendly, some of them are loosely interconnected, but you can start on pretty much any entry and still get all the information you need. I suggest just starting with whatever is the most easily available
Mason Stephens I'd say try out Dragon Quest IX it's a solid RPG and has a decent post-game. Plus it's very friendly to newcomers from personal experience.

Tim In the original game there were only the four party members, one of which was the mute Hero. They talk to you and each other a lot and develop over the course of the story.

Apollo Justice It's a J-RPG with classic turn based combat. Each game has its own story, characters and setting, just like the final fantasy series, so you don't need to play previous games to enjoy this one.

Yeah buckle in this is going to be a long one.
Dragon Quest the Franchise is still to this day the most popular RPG franchise in Japan, even more popular than Final Fantasy which is an interesting comparison people often make exactly because the original Final Fantasy game... Was actually hugely inspired from the very first Dragon Quest Game.
Which kind of makes Dragon Quest the granfather of all future huge RPG games.
It first got attention because of its. at the time, unique art style and humour created by Akira Toriyama whom would later go on to create "Dragon Ball."
What is interesting about that is that... Dragon Ball became popular in Japan because of the popularity of the Dragon Quest games, then Dragon Ball was brought to the western world and many new Dragon Quest fans have become fans of the game because of Dragon Ball, so it's kind of a reverse thing going on here which is kind of fun.
Dragon Quest is the game franchise that practically invented all the tropes for RPG gaming to come. From turn based combat to long fantasy stories based in a huge fantasy realm riddled with original mythology and a good sense of humour.
It is pratically the most classic kind of J-RPG you can possible get, but for that it's also really good and many Dragon Quest games practially sat the standard for all other RPG's of its time.
This you see here, is a remake of Dragon Quest VII originally created for the PS2, and for its time was quite ground breaking as it was the first Dragon Quest game to take place in a 3D setting and having a voice cast.
How ever, even with that in mind the game stands exstremely solid with one of the most complex stories of any Dragon Quest game as well as keeping a main focus of the humour and fun of the universe.
End rant.... Sorry. I really like Dragon Quest :3
I won't try to explain the rest of the series but this game in particular is my favorite game of all time. First played it on the PS2. It's what Final Fantasy 7 was but only for Dragon Quest. It's an amazing game, it has superb voice acting, a very solid and engaging story, beautiful graphics, and it'll easily take you 80 hours to beat the main quest. I highly recommend this game out of any Dragon Quest game.

It's the first RPG game I ever played as a kid on the PS2 and I loved it to bits back then.
Since then I have played a ton of other RPG's and J-RPG's, but this one will always have a special place in my heart.
Which I can confirm now because I am fangirling so hard over all of this!

Did they really change the orchestral music by midi versions? It was one of my favourite features of the Ps2 version. I feel a little bit let down.
