Your challenge videos are great. I don't know why they appeal to me. Maybe it's that your challenging yourself to think through a problem, or the suspense to see if you can pull it off. Either way Kevin, your videos are helping me to be more positive and push through another day of quarantine with a broken L4 and thorassic vertebrae. One day soon I'll be back at it. Thank you and your friends from the bottom of my heart. Not many of your viewers that feel the way I do, will comment. How does the diff hold up? I'm looking at getting one The thing about these 'bangood specials' is that a lot (not all) have badly made drivetrains so I just want be sure.
@@Ssh52 Mine was still good after about 6 or 7 packs through it... Speed runs, Skate parks and general bashing. They are the same as an FTX...lots of spares for them.
DEFINITELY went 60+mph!!! Yes I want to see you gear it up... I'm trying to get up the UMPH to start upgrading mine but I'm just nervous that once I take it apart it won't go back together right Haha... I'd like to see more just general maintenance shock maintenance... THX 4 EVERYTHING
I have a car a lot like that, same body, plastic chassis, same center member in plastic, same shock layout. Couple of years old, roasted the motor, new motor and esc. 3 cell fast enough to flip from 2/3 throttle, 4 cell ran a couple of runs, backflip through the range, smoked esc and motor. 80A esc, new motor, both rated to 6 cell. Broke cup on rear at spur, ran 2wd and smoked it. Have new rear diff and spur, new esc, new motor & pinion and a set of road tires...TBC lmfao
That car ain’t too shabby at all, that last run had to be over 60mph for sure,. The buildings could be over shadowing the satellites for a true reading. Anyway great vid Kev mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️ Stay Safe.
Cheap mods.. i miss these! going 5th scale got expensive! I use a Garmin Runner to speed test with.. it does a good job. My 1:10th running 54 /54 gearing does 85 on 4s!! was only 4 mph faster on 6s but got better control on the 4s... loads of fun but happy running normal batts and slighly larger pinions.. get good all round running doesn't over heat.. If you can't fit the bigger pinions it doesn't take an hour to cut and hand file a bit of alloy to do the job of a motor mount with enough adjustment. Only issue we had is running out of room!! great video kev keeping us from boredom in the lockdown.
Anthony Miller no nitros not that bad if you know what ya doing (or you just are really into it) and nitro fuel is only like £20 per gallon over here in uk. But its not for everyone
Omg yes mod the crap out of it. That thing on 6s would just be silly, but I still wanna see it! Thanks again Kevin for your channel. You really do make a difference in these weird times.
So without bashing any other brands, this VRX isn't that much different comparing it to a Traxxas or Arrma. It can reach the speed that is mentioned on the box, but only with the optional gearing. The biggest difference is that this VRX has a 3S Lipo instead of a Nihm battery.
Those spurs are notorious for stripping even on 2s in the monster truck versions so I'm not surprised it let go, especially if the pinions are the wrong pitch. You can get upgraded ones I think. It's a great platform apart from that though, the FTX stuff is pretty good for the money if you manage your expectations. Good entry point into the hobby and although I love my Tamiyas, they are way ahead of Tamiya stuff in the same price range when it comes to spec and design.
Buggies like this are designed for handling well, based on racing designs, unlike basher cars which have mcuh shorter relative wheelbase and higher CG.
Probably a metric pitch rather than imperial? My guess would be M0.8, could be 0.6 though I suppose. Side note, the 1/18 WLToys based trucks use M0.7 :/
The speed meter you have is the older version (discontinued) with 1 Hz update frequency, while the one you linked is the newer version with 10 Hz update frequency. You would get much more accurate readings with the newer one, and I've almost no doubt that you would've seen 60mph on it.
Did you change the Pinion gear ? The Mini T 2.0 brushless 6000kv uses the 15T pinion but the mini B is stock 18T does that make a difference fitting the DYNS0501
I have the plastic version of this rc and i am happy with it. It has metal parts installed that kyosho dirt hog doesn't have. Also VRX RACING is a new brand in the rc market and is a quality brand and i am happy because you can find part's and the motor mount is made with a way that you can add any pinion gear you like . So from me is yes.
Probably mod .8 gear vs 32P gear. They are similar pitch, but the teeth are shaped a bit different I believe. I know I run robinson 32P pinions on my stampede 4x4 which has mod .8 stamped on the gear. It's kind of noisy, but seems to work ok.
@Kevin Talbot, you should do a review on the Carisma Coyote. It doesn’t come with a lipo battery but it comes with a NiMH battery and it comes with a usb charger that takes 14 hours to charge. But with your Rc knowledge I’m pretty sure you can change the connectors for the battery and the crawler. The truck can handle a 2s Lipo.
I don't know why "they" say 2-speed trannies are of no use with brushless -the effects of simple gear ratio adjustment are very apparent here. Wish an aftermarket company would bring them back! I had 2 speed nitros 20 years ago; the sound of the RPM's dropping as the clutch engaged, and seeing the rear end squat down from the acceleration in second was so much fun. HPI used to have a 2 speed option for their RS4 touring, and various nitro buggy manufacturers had 2 speed options. While a brushless system has a different torque performance envelope, they still benefit from a 2 speed- this is why the tesla roadsters and Porsche taycan use one. But most EV's don't have it due to reliability/manufacturing costs, and the fact most people don't need/shouldn't have ultra high performance at racetrack speeds in their daily driver full size vehicles.
What’s the best cheapest gps Speedo I can get in uk I want to get some buggy’s and try building then for max top speed. Also what’s the basic size tools needed for most cars? I’m looking at getting a couple of WL toys cars for this project
cool vid kevs, you might consider changing tires that is something design for speed run, foam tires i think the stock is design for sand or something off road... cool vid waiting for your next vid hopefully you achieve the 60 mph :D cheers
Watching you unbox that car the other day reminded me of when my dad bought himself a Kyosho Lazer ZX about 30 years ago. That thing was rapid! Belt driven 4wd. Would probably be worth a bit of money now, except about 20 years ago I put a 40 size helicopter engine in it... I still have the box of bits somewhere!! 😂😂
Hello sir. i was wondering if you could please suggest a cheap rtr rc car for me. planning to buy my first rc car. atleast not toy grade. any suggestion will be appreciated much. :)
kev try out the ftx colt. it is a 1/18 buggy and i’m not sure if i should buy it or not. apparently it is great for some indoor bashing/jumping/racing. thanks.
I think she can take 8s. Please like this comment so kev does it 😂
haha 8s will send it to the moon! Everyone check out v2 vids, eipc RC vids there
yea hes cool
If Kev throws in a Spektrum FIRMA esc , I guarantee it'll be a MONSTER. 👍

Top speed runs Kev👍 , that last run did looked the fastest out of all of em so it probably did hit 60mph, that buggy ain't too bad at all

nice buggy test! good👍😲
I danced around because I was happy that you uploaded a video
Absolutely yes. Put anything you need in that thing to make it go faster that is going to be a lot of fun to see what its capability is.
