thank you for the great cleaning tip an for rusting ir anything in these type of small motors the brass will last for ever as long as they are clean an maybe in a brushless motor if a brushless motor is has bearings a drip of good oil at each end wouldnt hurt on it eather way when it comes to this smaller motor they are not much wear on them because of the light weight an no heat on them is my way of thinking an as always i hope i am not being a bother because i enjoy watching an learning an if i can comment on something you are do or i am do it doesnt mean thats the way it has to be done in this hobby we take from each other as we want an learn right my friend because noone is makeing nobody do what they see on these videos it is just the way you are doing things in the hobby an i think you for shareing your ideals with us thank you
Back in the day our thoughts were when run under water there were no small sparks to cause carbon/resistance and the brushes would bed in without sparks. The mild wear would expose the largest area without carbon to enable the largest contact area of the brushes,
Water = corrosion. Unless you're using distilled or reverse osmosis water, your water is exposing the metal parts to minerals which encourage metal corrosion.
@@michaelball1887 I have yet to realy see a brushless motor that looks well suited to the buggy. The furitek looks like a nice size but don’t like the pre wired setup and plugs they use. And the hobby wing motor looks just a little big for it.
Hello!! 🙃I have never done it, but I also think that it must help a lot, to clean, and especially to pair the carbons to the collector! 👍I will try, and take the time to do this like you!!! 😅Thank you for sharing!!!😉 And best regards from Valais, Switzerland!🤩🤪
@@sussexmicrorc Ok!!! That's what I'm going to do!!! I have a small WLToys 1/24th engine, a 130 unless I'm mistaken? And also a smaller one, for Mini-Z, from PN Racing (PNWC - 70 Turn). It's new. But can I run them with a 2S battery, or rather a 1s? Because I don't have enough knowledge on this subject... Thanks for answering me!! That's cool!!
@@DJpowitothat should be fine however I prefer the lower voltage/speed as it’s a little more gentle and allows more water to stay around the com and brushes to keep things cool. You can normally pick up a 2 cell (aa or aaa) holder for $2 of eBay or Amazon which makes hooking it up very easy in the future.
I like that AAA battery pack thing with a switch! Where can I find it? My googling hasn’t turned it up yet. I’ve struggled to find something to use for running in Mini-Z motors, but I like that one.
You can do this with slot car motors .. I've done this in the past. I use distilled water and let it run for few minutes. This helps with cleaning carbon and for first time motors bed the contacts. And you will squeeze out few more rpm from your motor..

Nice thoughts on the lubricants. I will do this more frequent i had no idea

I hope knowledge like this will not get lost due to the rush to brushless motors etc.

Give it a try and let us know how you find it

I have a small ultrasonic cleaner; wondering of that might work well?
Quite possibly, maybe a real quick wash to clean it out. Always had one on my wanted list
I switched over to a dry PTFE lubricant just a tiny tiny amount.
Hi @@justso1823 I have tried a number of dry lubs but still feel free from is the best personally.
Can I use mini z speed in micro b?
@@pawelnowak5013 no I wouldn’t think so the motors are very different in size
It definitely has costs to do but time is the real cost.
Are the motors in these the same as slot cars?
Very similar
