What The Assumption Tells Us about Heaven

  • Heaven is a mystery, so anything Mary’s assumption can tell us about it is a good thing. After all, if we want to go to heaven it’s good to know as much as we can about it. That’s why the Assumption should be taken seriously. It’s a glimpse into the mystery that awaits us, that will be fulfilled if we stay in loving relationship with God.
Fr. Mark-Mary compares Mary’s reuniting with Jesus in heaven to a soldier being reunited with his family after battle. The Solemnity of the Assumption offers a foretaste of our reunion with God. No wonder the Church makes this day a holy day of obligation. Maybe we should take a closer look at what God is telling us through Mary’s assumption.

Satan causes doubts and fear and will tell you lies, the devil will use those closest to you to attack you and try to get you to give up on your faith. Pray every day, go to church as much as possible receiving holy communion, go to confession, do everything for God, when your going through a trial offer up your struggles to God, your faith will be tested by God, never stop praying.

@Oregon Jesus Preacher *"There is only One Father, and He is in Heaven."* -- Unfortunately Jesus does not agree with you:
Matt. 15:4-5; 19:19 - Jesus uses “father” when He teaches God’s commandment to “Honor your father and your mother.”
Mark 7:10-12; Luke 18:20 - these are more examples of Jesus using “father” when teaching about honoring our fathers and mothers.
Eph. 6:2,4 - Paul also teaches to honor your “father” and mother, and says “fathers,” do not provoke your children.
Matt. 10:21; 35,37; Mark 13:12 - Jesus says “father” will deliver up his child in the last days.
Matt. 19:5; Mark 10:7,19 - Jesus says a man shall leave his “father” and mother and be joined to his wife. See also Eph. 5:31.
Matt. 19:29; Mark 10:29-30 - Jesus says whoever has left mother or “father” for His sake shall receive a hundredfold.
Matt. 21:31 - Jesus uses “father” when he teaches about the parable of the two sons and asks, “who did the will of his “father?”
Luke 6:23,26 - Jesus speaks about reward and punishment with reference to what their “fathers” did to the prophets.
Luke 11:11 - Jesus says what “father” among you will give his child a serpent when he asks for a fish.
Luke 11:47-48 - Jesus tells the lawyers they are witnesses to the deeds of their “fathers.”
Luke 14:26 - Jesus says we must leave our “fathers” and mothers and come to him, or we cannot be His disciple.
Luke 15:12,17-18,20-22,27-29 - Jesus repeatedly uses “father” when teaching about the prodigal son.
Luke 16:27 - Jesus uses “father” when teaching about the rich man in purgatory.
John 6:49,58 - Jesus says your “fathers” ate the manna in the wilderness and died.
John 7:22 - Jesus refers to the “fathers” who gave the Jews the practice of circumcision.
John 8:56 - Jesus tells the Jews your “Father” Abraham rejoiced that he was to see my day.

    • @D0csavage1
      @D0csavage1 4 года назад +2

@Oregon Jesus Preacher *"Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven."* -- Then with the other verses presented Jesus clearly refers to earthly men as ''fathers'' Jesus is God therefore cannot err. So the contradiction lies with the reader, taking verses entirely out of context (“eisegesis”). Look at verse Matt. 23:8 - in this teaching, Jesus also says not to call anyone teacher or rabbi as well. So that means no one is to call their teachers “teacher?”

    • @D0csavage1
      @D0csavage1 4 года назад +2

@Oregon Jesus Preacher *"Yes, Jesus said not to call anyone rabbi or teacher, that is mainly because they were listening to false teachers and rabbis and not Him."* -- See how you argue regarding 'call no man father' but accept you can call a teacher teacher because you know how absurd it would be. Yet Jesus was using the exact same context in Matt 23:9.
*"but no where does it say "Priest"."* -- Acts 20:17,28 - Paul refers to both the elders or priests (“presbyteroi”) and the bishops (“episkopoi”) of the Church.

I have tears in my eyes because I have so much fear of what maybe and the kind of world my children will grow up in...The worst part is that I have downplayed my Cacthlosism so much that even now I feel no guilt whatsoever when I go to holy mass in a state of mortal sin and dont receive the sacrament of the Eucharist. I love my God with out a doubt but the truth is I am totally lost and cant seem to find my way back and I feel like I have been forgiven much too often by God and I truly dont deserve a second chance...sorry for the long confused message... 😢

Great teaching Just heard from a priest who I think just misspoken to make a point that Mass is not only for personnel prayer. He said that if you want personal prayer go to an adoration chapel. As you just taught we are not baptized into an abstraction but a mystery. My patron Saint is Teresa OCD and her little sister Therese writings did not give me the impression that Mass was not for personnel prayer. I totally agree it is a communal prayer but if we are not fully participating on a personal level with the mystery doesn't that make us Protestant? This is my body...This is my blood....????

Mary is the New Eve (Gen 3:15, Luke 1:38, Jn 2:4, Jn 19:26, Gal 4:4, Rev 12:1, Rev 12:17)
    IMMACULATE CONCEPTION:
As Eve was created sinless, the New Eve was born unstained by original sin. How can the New Eve be inferior to the old?
    ASSUMPTION OF MARY:
If Adam and Eve had obeyed God, they would have entered heaven body and soul. Since the new creation is the fulfillment of the failure of the old, Jesus, the New Adam, and Mary, the New Eve, obeyed God perfectly. Because of their perfect obedience, Jesus ascends body and soul into heaven and Mary is assumed body and soul into heaven. Assumed because Mary enters heaven through God's power. Jesus ascended by his own power because he is God.
    CO-REDEMPTRIX:
Both Adam and Eve sinned but it was Adam's sin that caused the downfall. Nevetheless, Eve was Co-Transgressor as she played a vital part in man's downfall. In a similar manner, although Jesus' obedience redeemed man, Mary was Co-Redemptrix as she played a vital role in man's redemption. Eve listens to a fallen angel, sins, and tempts Adam who brings the fall of man. Mary listens to an Angel, accepts God's plan, gives birth toJesus who is the redeemer of man.
    MEDIATRIX OF ALL GRACES:
Mary is Mediatrix of All Graces because Mary gives birth to Jesus who reconciles man to God so we can receive God's grace.
Also through Mary's intercessory prayers, we receive God's grace as displayed at the wedding at Cana when Jesus truned water into wine when Mary asked him for assistance. It is not Mary's grace, but God's grace that we receive through Mary's intercession.
    Mary is the New Ark of the Covenant (Ex 40:34-35, Lk 1:35), (2 Sam 6:1-11, Lk 1:39), (2 Sam 6:14, Lk 1:43), (2 Sam 6:15, Lk 1:42), (2 Sam 6:9, Lk 1:43), ( 2 Sam 6:11, Lk 1:56), (2 Sam 6:11, Lk 1:39-45), (Ex 16:33-34, Ex 25:16, Num 17:10, Heb 9:5), (Rev 11:19, Rev 12:1)
Prefigured in Jephthah's daughter (Luke 1:34,38 Judges 11:35-39)
    EVER VIRGIN:
No man could touch the Ark (2 Sam 6:7). Similarly no man could touch Mary the New Ark of the covenant. Mary's viriginy upholds the divinity of Jesus. The Ark's main purpose was to bring the presence of God to his people. Similarly, the New Ark's main purpose was to bring the prescence of Jesus (God/Man) to the world. Sacred vessles set aside for God, cannot be used for normal use. Like a goblet used in worship cannot be used to drink wine at dinner. Simiarly Mary's womb set aside to bring God's prescence into the world cannot be used for normal use.
Luke in 1:34,38 was alluding to Jephthah's daughter in Judges 11 who accepted the will of her father and was ever virgin. Likewise because Mary accepted God the Father's will, she became ever virgin. Her womb dedicated to God, could not be used for normal activity.

@Oregon Jesus Preacher Not most people. There are only about half as many Protestants (of all types, across many, many disparate theologies) as Catholics, so most people are fine with Catholic Sacred Tradition.

    • @D0csavage1

@Oregon Jesus Preacher Doing the rounds are we, with your anti-catholic tirades? *"Jesus doesn't approve of religious tradition."* -- You mean Apostolic tradition. He does in fact as do the Inspired Apostles. Mark 3:14; 16:15 - Jesus commands the apostles to preach (not write) the gospel to the world. Jesus gives no commandment to the apostles to write, and gives them no indication that the oral apostolic word he commanded them to communicate would later die in the fourth century.
Luke 10:16 - He who hears you (not “who reads your writings”), hears me. The oral word passes from Jesus to the apostles to their successors by the gracious gifts of the Holy Spirit. This succession has been preserved in the Holy Catholic Church. For the very same Apostolic succession decided which books would make up the Bible, the Bible that Reformers accept.
Acts 2:42 - the members obeyed apostolic tradition (doctrine, prayers, and the breaking of bread). Their obedience was not to the Scriptures alone. Tradition (in Greek, “paradosis”) means “to hand on” teaching.
*"Jesus never burned incense"* -- How would you know with your Sola Scriptura doctrine? John 20:30; 21:25 - Jesus did many other things not written in the Scriptures. These have been preserved through the oral apostolic tradition and they are equally a part of the Deposit of Faith.
Rev. 8:3-4 - in heaven an angel mingles incense with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne of God, and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God.
*"They have many doctrines about Mary, which are not the teachings of Jesus. Jesus never exalted or praised His mother anywhere in the Bible"* -- Here is proof that protestantism changes over time whereas Catholic doctrine has remained unchanged for 2,000 years:
      Martin Luther:
      Mary the Mother of God
Throughout his life Luther maintained without change the historic Christian affirmation that Mary was the Mother of God:
"She is rightly called not only the mother of the man, but also the Mother of God ... It is certain that Mary is the Mother of the real and true God."1
      Perpetual Virginity
Again throughout his life Luther held that Mary's perpetual virginity was an article of faith for all Christians - and interpreted Galatians 4:4 to mean that Christ was "born of a woman" alone.
"It is an article of faith that Mary is Mother of the Lord and still a Virgin."2
      The Immaculate Conception
Yet again the Immaculate Conception was a doctrine Luther defended to his death (as confirmed by Lutheran scholars like Arthur Piepkorn). Like Augustine, Luther saw an unbreakable link between Mary's divine maternity, perpetual virginity and Immaculate Conception. Although his formulation of the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception was not clear-cut, he held that her soul was devoid of sin from the beginning:
"But the other conception, namely the infusion of the soul, it is piously and suitably believed, was without any sin, so that while the soul was being infused, she would at the same time be cleansed from original sin and adorned with the gifts of God to receive the holy soul thus infused. And thus, in the very moment in which she began to live, she was without all sin..."3
      Assumption
Although he did not make it an article of faith, Luther said of the doctrine of the Assumption:
"There can be no doubt that the Virgin Mary is in heaven. How it happened we do not know."4
      Honor to Mary
Despite his unremitting criticism of the traditional doctrines of Marian mediation and intercession, to the end Luther continued to proclaim that Mary should be honored. He made it a point to preach on her feast days.
"The veneration of Mary is inscribed in the very depths of the human heart."5
"Is Christ only to be adored? Or is the holy Mother of God rather not to be honoured? This is the woman who crushed the Serpent's head. Hear us. For your Son denies you nothing."6 Luther made this statement in his last sermon at Wittenberg in January 1546.
      John Calvin:
"Elizabeth called Mary Mother of the Lord, because the unity of the person in the two natures of Christ was such that she could have said that the mortal man engendered in the womb of Mary was at the same time the eternal God."7
"Helvidius has shown himself too ignorant, in saying that Mary had several sons, because mention is made in some passages of the brothers of Christ."8 Calvin translated "brothers" in this context to mean cousins or relatives.
"It cannot be denied that God in choosing and destining Mary to be the Mother of his Son, granted her the highest honor."9
"To this day we cannot enjoy the blessing brought to us in Christ without thinking at the same time of that which God gave as adornment and honour to Mary, in willing her to be the mother of his only-begotten Son."10
And so the list goes on........................
*"Jesus never said he was the pope, but Jesus is the Head of the Church."* -- Mark 3:16; John 1:42 - Jesus renames Simon “Kepha” in Aramaic which literally means “rock.” *When God changes a person’s name, He changes their status.*
Luke 12:41-42 - when Peter asks Jesus if the parable of the master and the kingdom was meant just for the apostles or for all people, Jesus rhetorically confirms to Peter that Peter is the chief steward over the Master’s household of God. “Who then, (Peter) is that faithful and wise steward whom his master will make ruler over His household..?”
*"Jesus is the Head of the Church."* -- Eph. 2:20, the apostles are called the foundation of the Church.

Doesn’t support Mary? Were you devoted to your Mother? It’s the same thing. Also, the Ángel Gabriel said, “Hail Mary, full of grace”. Why would she be full of grace if she were unworthy of our love and devotion? Devotion is NOT praise. Praise belongs to God only. Biblical- The Magnificat: “All generations shall call me BLESSED.” Wow. Powerful. Why would she say that? She desires our devotion as she desires to be called Blessed. And the Angel said, Hail Mary! Full of GRACE. ITS BIBLICAL. Why would God’s Ángel Gabriel tell her she was “full of grace” if Mary could not use that grace to assist others? You don’t possess gifts with the assumption of not sharing those gifts with others, right?
