What To Do After You Fall into Sin

  • The temptation to sin doesn’t end after we give into it. In fact, as Fr. Mark-Mary describes, the temptation to sin is afterwards matched in intensity by the temptation to wallow in our sin, and stay in an unforgivable state; unforgivable not because God can’t forgive us, but because we think there’s no way he possibly can after what we’ve done-so we don’t ask for forgiveness. Or, as an alternative, the evil one will tempt us to commit the sin again while believing it doesn’t matter because we already did it anyway.
    Fr. Mark-Mary encourages us to take a different path, and choose God’s mercy instead. He tells us to not be like Judas, who let his sin take over-leading to his death; but to be like Peter who begged for forgiveness and received it from the resurrected Jesus. The devil will have us believe our sin is too great to overcome, but there’s a reason why we call God’s mercy divine-because it surpasses human understanding.

      Go to confession as soon as you can. Pray the Rosary. If you continue to pray the Rosary you can't continue to sin.

      every human being is a sinner, sin being an inevitable outcome of a fallible human nature. No matter how righteous a person is, he or she may at times disobey God through ignorance or forgetfulness ,Remember When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree in paradise, It was Satan who deceived and cajoled them, whereupon they exercised their free will and made an error in judgement. Together, Adam and Eve realised their disobedience, felt remorse and begged for God’s forgiveness, Because God is the all Just and all merciful,God in his infinite mercy and wisdom, forgave them,God set the precedent that He will forgive those who turn to Him in sincere repentance We will all find ourselves in a similar situation as Adam and Eve so Salvation comes from God alone in seeking forgiveness, so when a person seeks forgiveness, he must turn to God submissively with true remorse and beg forgiveness, promising not to repeat the sin. Then and only then will sins be forgiven, so as God says:
      The door to forgiveness is open to anyone who seeks it

    Something that was portrayed so beautifully in The Passion movie...when Judas betrayed Christ, he isolated himself and turned in on himself. When Peter denied Christ, he went to Mary. Mary shows him love and shares her strength with him, helping to keep his heart open and preparing him for Christ’s forgiveness.

    • @jongricafort4

      Because Peter has a contemplative heart, and he knew who is the " another Advocate" and he got the explanation of Jesus rightly in John14:16 thats why in 50 AD St.Luke miraculously painted the "another Advocate" as all the Apostles had witness in the Upper Room who is the "Spirit of Truth".
      Do you know who is the "another Advocate" and the "Spirit of Truth"?
      Peter knew the role of Theotokos from Jesus revelation because he has a contemplative heart unlike Judas who doesn't reach the height of contemplation in prayer.
      Mary as the "another Advocate" received the "Spirit of Truth" as her anointing in the upper room..this is the mystery all Christian must embrace..Godbless

    This was so good for me. I fall into sin, and have struggled with sexual sin (lust, looking at things I should not look at) for the last ten years. My pattern has been to fall into this sin every 3-6 months over the past 3-4 years. I strive to live for the Lord, but find myself falling into the same besetting sin pattern -- usually when I am alone, isolated and sad. My marriage has been a source of pain for 20 years, and my wife and I have wandered far apart. We no longer live together, but there has been no emotional connection for many, many years. This does not justify my sin. It only gives context to why I fall and to what my trigger points are. I last sinned four months ago, repented, turned to God. But the past four weeks I have been drowning in guilt and shame -- and like this video says, I see my sin as "too big." Nothing, no sin is greater than the precious Blood of Jesus and His atoning Death. No sin is greater than God's grace. My fight for my life right now is to grasp the truths that where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. His mercy is greater than my sin, my sin habit, my sin nature, and my deceitful heart. This message gave me hope. Thank you, Fr. Mark. My hope and prayer is that this Holy Week, my eyes will be taken off my mountain of sin and failure and will instead gaze upon the Savior Who suffered and died for me that Friday. When I doubt God loves me because of my falling into the same sin again, I need to see His love shown to me upon the Cross. This video has given me renewed hope that God has not abandoned me, that I am still His son, even if battered and smelling like the pig pen. The consequences of sin are very real and hard. I want to live for and live near Jesus.

    Take off two weeks in the month and use it to seek the Lord with prayer and fasting and you will see His holy spirit comes to you then you will know the truth because while you are failing to conquer the sin is because your not implying work in your faith every day,( 1 Peter 5:8-9)( you are not putting down the sinful nature that raise to control your mind every day by having shot fasting everyday(2 Peter 3:17) as you know almost all the people are living after their sinfulnature flesh, but we suppose to be putting it down everyday and Jesus promised us that if we die on the cause of denying ourself everyday then we shall see Him in His kingdom, those who are living after the flesh can not make it over there galatians 5:19-21. If you love your life in this world you will lose it, but if you comes to the discipline of Holy spirit and denying your heart of its evil through fasting and prayer often with faith, then you will be working in the spirit and entering heaven will be so sure to you.

    Peter wept bitterly.. yet no mention of Judas shedding a tear for his sin. ….pride seems to inhibit ones ability to suffer doesn't it. Victor Frankl said in his memoirs from Auschwitz upon observing the prisoners 'there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer' ..I think he put it so profoundly as it was beautifully borne from experience. A man that has only sipped from the chalice of suffering would deny a person the humanity of their feelings, but someone who has imbibed deeply of its bitterness would say "be holy carry it"!

    Thank you for the encouragement. Just a thought. I know Judas would have been forgiven if he returned to the Lord, but there's an additional dimension to Judas' predicament: he gave Jesus up to be murdered. In his mind, the Lord wouldn´t be there anymore to forgive him, as nobody expected him to rise from the dead. If even Peter disbelieved Mary Magdalene at first, how could the traitor even imagine? To him, all hope was lost. This also reminds us, first, that we can´t lose faith, even when the odds seem unsurmountably against us, and second, that our time to repent is limited... I do know you have helped comfort me. Like so many others I watched this from a place of guilt. To help me sleep, after my iniquities. But your words turned me back towards God; our Lord Jesus, and that he who began a good work in me will surely finish it. I do not know the validity of your ministry, but I do remember a verse, that even if a person hears the truth from someone with selfish desires it is still a boon. I’m not sayin you are fraudulent or incomplete in your knowledge of scripture. I am saying thank you regardless.

    I don't think, at least some of us, are making an idol out of our sin. We read passages of scripture like Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 10, just to name a few, which seem to indicate that God will not forgive us, will no longer grant us repentance....then we are condemned for falling into despair??? The 🤯😱😳😲

    I sincerely ask for what you said is “proof of the devil” and not just human nature/warped beliefs/mental issues etc. I want to understand, and proof is needed to help me understand.

    • @reconteam91
      @reconteam91 5 лет назад

      So whenever we sin it's always "the devil made me do it"? None of the sins committed by man - from stealing candy to genocide - throughout history is just because human beings chose to commit them? Again, just trying to understand.

    • @mikelao8434
      @mikelao8434 5 лет назад

      Right humans have the free will to commit sin if he knows it’s wrong to do so, but decides to do it anyway. Sin has its consequences spiritually and even physically just one reason why God wrote the Ten Commandments but mainly because God Loves his children he doesn’t want them to hurt themselves or get harmed.

    As a child I believed that the Bible was the word of God and that Jesus was my savior .In 1988 I was drinking a fifth of alcohol a day . I knew that there was more to life than I realized but I didn't know what it was . I had a wonderful girlfriend , we raced motorcycles , we went to bluegrass festivals and did whatever we wanted to do . I realized that I had everything the world said was happiness but I felt something important was missing and I didn't know what it was. I tried scientology , all kinds of yoga, martial arts and various other disciplines but nothing satisfied me . One Sunday morning I came home drunk in a taxicab and waiting outside of my house was a man who was giving my roommate a ride to church. I had gone to alcoholics anonymous for six months and they helped me a lot but I had gone back to drinking .He invited me to sit in his car and talk. He asked me if I wanted a bible study. I said I would love to have a bible study . He came on Monday nights the only night of the week that I didn't drink. It was a 12 week bible study that went from Genesis to Revelation. He showed me in the book of Acts ( Acts 2:38 ) where it said repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost . I said I'd never seen that in the bible and I wanted to get baptized in Jesus' name and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I got baptized in Jesus' name and prayed for two months to get the Holy Ghost. The night that I got the Holy Ghost I was praying and I started to talk in tongues , I felt wonderful and GOD delivered me from the spirit of alcohol . I have never wanted to drink since then and I praise GOD for that.
    . The man who gave me the twelve week bible study taught me a ' GODHEAD ' bible study twice but i didn't understand the oneness of God or the trinity . I was reading the bible one day and read Ephesians 4 : 5-6 that i had previously highlighted in my bible . God gave me the revelation of oneness . ' ONE LORD , ONE FAITH , ONE BAPTISM , ONE GOD AND FATHER OF ALL , WHO IS ABOVE ALL , AND THROUGH ALL ,AND IN YOU ALL !
    JOHN 3:16 IS JUST ONE VERSE : YOU NEED TO READ ALL OF CHAPTER THREE TO UNDERSTAND JESUS' PLAN OF SALVATION !
    I was a believer from childhood but I wasn't saved .
    THANK YOU FOR READING THIS !

    Brother...,Judas betrayed JESUS resulting in HIS arrest, trial & death. Peter's sin & betrayal was to abandon JESUS in HIS time of greatest need. There is a great difference in the two betrayals. This dawned on me one day as the two betrayals were being discussed at church. Peter's sin did not result in the death of CHRIST(that day). JESUS was terribly disappointed in Peter, reconciling HIS disappointment in Peter on the beach after the RESURRECTION, Peter being terribly disappointed that JESUS had ask him 3 times about his love. I'm sure the intensity of the feeling Peter experienced on the beach compared to the feeling CHRIST experienced the night of his arrest. As JESUS said concerning Peter....satan was going to sift him like wheat . Concerning Judas HE said it would have been better for him not to have been born. I see a great difference in the 2 sins & results there of. This being said, we know that sin(whatever the nature) is what placed our GREAT & GLORIOUS LORD & SAVIOR on the cross in the first place. I don't know Brother, but the 2 sins have always been compared in the same context over the years. Maybe I missed something. Somehow to me there seems to be a great difference in the 2 sins.
