i have been running the clayton 2.5 inch overland plus kit on my 2018 jlu Sahara for last two years. it is paired with the falcon 3.3 shocks and a swayloc system. I am very happy i went with the Clayton kit it has been awesome very solid feel when driving and offers good flexibility when needed. I drive a lot on washboard and rough roads and every thing has stayed tight and squeak free. only thing have had happen was the jam nut on lower control arm had backed off one time. I live in a part of the country with very curvy river roads and with the way i have the jeep set up it handles better than it did in stock form. Also i pull a 12ft enclosed trailer with it and the jeep handles that very nice and solid. I did do the lift at home by myself and it went smooth other than the tool i needed was always on the wrong side and that little pump deal was a pain. glad to see you back on youtube and keep up the good work.

Buddy of mine gave me this XR takeoffs because he installed same kit as you on his JLURXR. I put them on my 2 door Willys and it gave me at least 3” of lift on all 4 corners, 3.5” in the rear. I love them and handles better than stock. HAD TO ADD 1” Tereflex spacer after settling due to my steel bumper, winch, and front skid plate.

Great video, as always. I have to say I appreciate you using regular tools to show some of the install. So many guys just bash through jobs on videos using their impact tools, and that's great and all, but in my younger days all I had was hand tools, so I appreciate that. That said, working on my F150, my big milwaukee impact is a damn life saver.
I also appreciate the time to showing some good closer shots of the product. So often you can't get an idea of the quality from the images on the forums or even the manufacturers own site.

This is probably a really huge question that depends on a lot of things, but here we go anyway...
I own a Mojave, which is basically a Gladiator you buy because of the shocks and suspension. For a while now, my plan has just been to get the AEV 2" Mojave spacer lift kit to eventually run 37s. I've read lots of good things about the AEV kit, and it looks like a fairly simple install.
Understanding that these Clayton kits contain a lot of things that the AEV kit doesn't (springs, track bars, sway bars, etc), is it worth the massive increase in price to go with a Clayton lift kit vs just the AEV spacer lift? I know folks will say that spacer lifts are if you want to retain your stock ride quality (of which I have no complaints, really), but I also don't know what I don't know. Maybe something does suck about the Mojave suspension and I'm unaware of it? Are these Clayton kits really THAT much better than the Jeep factory suspension on a Mojave?
I know, big question, probably not easy to answer, but that's what you get for being the internet's best Jeep friend. :)

    • @sellickusa

I have a '23 Mojave and I just installed the AEV kit and Mopar Performance LCAs last week; I'm on 37x13.5x17s. The AEV kit will have everything you need for the lift and it rides completely stock. There is no reason to spend more unless you're set on going higher with your lift. Mine came out to be almost 3" in the rear and about 2 3/8" up front; note I do have the tow package. If you have any other questions let me know.

Great Video! I’ll be subscribing. My Rubi has some parts coming very soon. I talked to James and he helped spec out the kit I ordered and I went with the HD Springs…I’ve seen several JT guys I follow end up switching to Clayton Kits; I’m the buy it right the first time kind of guy. The Fox shocks are awesome on a stock Rubicon. However, daily with RTT for me hasn’t been pleasant lately. I’ve got to try something adjustable that won’t break the bank, so I’ll be going a slightly different approach on shocks. Can’t wait to start turning wrenches and filming!

Great video sir and very timely. I have a question, getting very different feedback in forums, dealers, 4wheel parts etc. I'm researching lift kits for my wife's 2022 Rubicon 4xe. There are folks that claim the 4xe Rubicon sits an inch taller than the non 4xe Rubicon? I was considering the Mopar lift but several folks have said it's okay but rides very stiff, also claims of binding. I am considering a Teraflex 2.5 inch and also Clayton after watching this video. That lift kit seems very well thought out and substantial in terms of heavy-dutiness etc. Another concern I have with the 4xe Rubicon is again forums and a video that was done by Epic Adventure Outfitters. It seems Under full droop once you lift a 4xe, there is some drive shaft clearance issues where it connects to the transfer case. I did ask the dealer concerning the Mopar lift, it does not include a drive shaft nor did they say it needs replacing. I did see that Clayton offers a 1.5 in overlanding kit, that may be the ticket as we plan to run 35s, no bigger. This Jeep will spend likely 90% of its time on the road and when off road, over Landing type driving Moab area, Ouray, CO trails etc. I appreciate your thoughts and input thank you.

Can you run back through exactly why you opted to keep the XR bump stops rather than install the ones that came with the kit? Is it because one set is bigger/smaller than the other? Or because they're already relatively similar? I couldn't quite wrap my head around that one! Love this style of video, just enough info to follow along and get the gist of who/what/where/why/how.
Even after 10 years of jeeping/crawling, I always kind of assumed that a lift meant an instant compromise with driveability - so super thrilled to know that you actually can improve your on-road and off-road drive feel with a quality kit. Excited to learn what other components you choose to upgrade to compliment/augment this lift! All the best!

    What's the total vehicle height?
Looking at this very kit, or very similar, but concerned it will be too tall for my garage. Have a stock 2015 JKU Sahara 4d Hardtop that sits at 72" on 31" Pirelli Scorpions. Factory it would be 72.6" on 31.5" AT's.
Max clearance for my garage door is 77" (had a new slab poured and the contractor was a jack wagon... that's a whole ither story) and I'm willing to remove the hardtop to slide it in for storage.
Will eventually add front bumper with winch, back bumper, HD spare mount, and rock rails but this will take some time to cover. Will go close to 35" tires, but stay closer to or below 34.5" (i.e.: Geolander A/T- XD, 285/75 R18)
Not interested in loosing half the gains by going with a 2.5" lift once everything above is added (as some forums suggested). ALSO, not interested in listening to my better half about having it in the driveway until all of that happens and gets it low enough to clean the garage door.

Looks like your coils were bowed a tad in one of the shots at the end. Curious if you end up needing the coil correction pads from rock krawler. Also can not wait to see how it works out with the XR bump stops.

Just upgraded my 2013 jku with this system but for 4.5" lift paired with falcon 3.3 shocks... holy shit!!!... better than factory... get rid of those fox shocks btw... lmao...& food for thought, the moment you mess with the suspension they have every single right in the book to void your warranty, we don't do this for manufacturers warranty, only parts warranty... that's life, get over it... lmao...
