I just replaced my 37" Milestar Patagonias with the 37" Cooper STT PROs and they perform a lot better off road than the Milestar's did. I live in Georgia red clay country and we put them to the test out here...COOPERS all day long. ✌✌ Great videos!
I love the coopers!
I just put the same 3.5" lift on my gladiator. Went with the 35" goodrich KM3 and i absolutely love the look and feel of it!! I gained almost 8" in height in total. So new side steps on on the way now!
Super jealous of this jeep. Love the color and the height of it. Thanks for putting out such informative content!
I’m liking how this one is turning out!
I'd go with the new Nitto Trail Grappler size 38/13.50/17 on Hutchinson Monster beadlocks. They're DOT approved ,( one of a very few,) and look great.
Good set up!
Falken has been stealing the market. I have them on my Jeep and 1 ton truck. Love the tires. No issues with noise or balancing. Great tires.
In my opinion, BFGoodrich KM3 tires are the best looking and performing of them all!
They come in 35" that is directly comparable to whats on the XR.
And they come in 2 different 37" versions! 12.5" wide and 13.5" wide...
This is what i will be getting for my XR when my KO2s are worn..
Good call!
Lift and build should always be a function of the intended use. If only for mall crawling, then 40's on 44's with 5.38 (small pinion gear) will do just fine, heck don't forget the 20 inch rims and rocker guards with 4 inch drop steps for the passengers. If going for actual wheeling on terrain like Moab, Rubicon, Windrock, and AOP, then the jeep needs to be built with all the heavy duty gear which means $$$ that's just a fact. If the jeep person desires and all around sort of do anything / daily driver set up, then the JLUR is excellent choice for 3.5 to 4.5 inches of lift, flat fenders, 38's or light 39's (for a true 37 or 38) Chrome molly shafts, Adams CV drive shafts, 4.88 gears (for the 8 speed auto), Teraflex HD draglink, Steesmarts HD tie rod with high steer kit, winch, bumpers, and all the other goodies. (yes that's my set up as seen on my channel jeepNdirt) and unfortunately that's $$ too but doing it right from the get go just ensures peace of mind when running around on 2k mile trips on and off road and then driving home. Unless you're going long arm, Metalcloak control arms have the most misalignment and true centered bushings at ride height. If folks don't like the gold, then paint them and you're all good. The M210/M220 Rubi axles even with the FAD have proven to be reliable. Can you damage it, sure you can but keep in mind these are 32 spline axles shafts with 1350 u-joints from the factory, that's old school dana 60 stuff. For comparison in the 90's we were using ford 8.8 axles with 31 splines from 5000lb ford explorers designed for 5k towing capacity and V8 to upgrade the rear axles on our YJ's and TJ's that weighed 4500lbs with 37's and then 40's. Note: if anyone does check out my jeep on my for fun channel, know that I recently received a free ultimate D44 axle for the front of my jeep and is the only reason I have it, otherwise I'd still be running the factory front M210 axle. (The free was due to another driver not paying attention and sort of taking out my right front wheel / knuckle.) Note: Everything stated above is fact specifically my opening comment about building for intended use. My all around may not be the best all around for the next guy and so on. I love my set up, and I share the build when folks ask, but the one comment I always state is "build it for you" and "a jeep is never really completed" as there's always something we'll want to change. Remember, "It's Your World, Explore It!"
What a great comment, definitely a lot to talk about!
I've been watching Jeep stuff since 35's were the tire of choice (yup, probably 10yrs). Now that I'm close to buying, I still think 35's will meet our needs just fine. The idea of building a mild rock-lander is what I'm looking for. It sounds like it might cost a bit more, but going with Clayton's 2 1/2" lift, 35's and a re-gear , bigger rotors & brake pads will get me a better platform than Extreme Recon will ever be able to deliver. Please, give it to me straight up, because as a retired dude this will be my last rodeo. Thanks for the videos. cheers
You will be very happy with that set up, I want bigger for more clearance / articulation and to be quite honest to just look beefy
37 Nitro trail grappler or terra grapplers if you want AT. I’ve ran both and loved them. The trail is surprisingly quiet and the Terra has great bite for an AT. Especially in snow. I want this same Clayton overland kit this spring. KMC tank headlocks for the win except they are stupid expensive.
I just got this same lift for my 392, waiting on the shocks and tires to come in to install. Thanks for the preview of what I have coming, I can’t wait to get it mounted up onto the Jeep!
You’ll love it!
Great feedback and more good reviews on Clayton’s stuff. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
No problem thanks for watching!
Firestone Destination MT2s. Hands down the best tire I've ever run on a Jeep or truck. I've had them on my JK for three years, 48,000 miles and they're still going strong. About to buy another set for my JL. 37s are as large as they make though.
Just bought their full performance package with your code for my Gladiator. Thank you for the great content!
SWEET! Glad it could save you a little on the price as well!
I'm running 37x12.5x17 pro comp mt2, with kmc bead lockers about 32 psi ,love them
Love the kmc wheels!
Falken Wildpeak at3w. Personally my all time favorite all terrain tire. I'd say go with a 38" tire, great looking size on the JLU. Unfortunately Falken Wildpeak's stop at 37's (at least for 17's)
Good call thanks for watching!
I’m running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T on my JT. I live in Oregon and these tires are perfect for my environment.
Thanks for the comment!
Two finger driving says it all. And I think a true 38” looks perfect on that size lift. Check measurements and you’ll find some. With your xr gears may not ‘have’ to regear right away either and be easier on your susp parts while you upgrade over time.
Great call with the 38s
Great review. I would not consider going bigger than 37” tires, unless you are turning your JL into a dedicated hardcore offroad build. Also, I highly recommend looking into Yokohama's Geolandar M/T G003. These M/T tires are amazing on- AND offroad and are currently the best M/T tires in the rain and snow and on the highway in my opinion. They are unstoppable offroad.
That’s a good call and the third person to recommend the Yokohama!
I would also like if you did a tire review on different tires. Actual road tests in the rain snow mud. Which are quieter. Which has thicker side walls. Don’t want sidewalls to puncture while off roading because on thin sidewalks. Pros and cons. Kind of what consumer report does for reviewing regular car tires. I think everyone would get a lot out of that. We all need great tires. I myself have mud tires on now but will be looking for all terrain tires next time.
Great tips!
I went with 37 Yokohama all-terrain, 20inch moto metal Sniper, with 3.5 Tera flex lift & falcon shocks💕
I have the Geolandar X-AT on my GX470 and am considering them in 37's for my JL392 that's on order.
@@JeepYotaAdventure ugh! I would have loved to have been able to get the 392! But it was HARD to find in Tuscadero 🤷🏽♀️ and I missed out on the preorder 😏 so I went with the 2.0 turbo (avg 20.5-21.mpg)
@@lizzyliz3194 Well, it was ordered in July. Only issued a VIN thus far. No build date. Was hoping to get it for the cooler weather in FL. Now it looks like January or even February for delivery. So, are you happy with your Yokohamas?
@@JeepYotaAdventure YIKES! That’s a long wait for a factory build! Yes! Very happy with the ride / grip of the Yokohamas! Even though I’ve only had em for 1,000 miles lol.
Great set up, I have heard good things about the yokohama
Yes do a tire review, have to update my next year and it would be great to see the pros and cons of different tires brand/models.
Great idea!
Thanks for sharing, I'm new to the jeep community, and am slowly learning. Videos like yours are very helpful.
Glad they are helpful!
Icon Alloys Rebound Pro beadlocks with Nitto Ridge Grappler 38". Bigger then a 37", but not quite the problems of a 40". The combination will be much lighter than a 40" on traditional beadlocks.
Good idea!
I’m running 40s, Mickey Thompson MT on Teraflex Nomads with rash rings. I don’t run beadlocks to avoid DoT issues, but if I had to do it over again I’d probably get the new-ish Icon Rebounds with the thread “beadlock” screws. A 3.5” lift (I did MetalCloak) and fender splits works great with these 40s with no rubbing on my Rubicon Diesel.
I’m thinking a fender split will come soon!
Saw a high vis yellow gladiator mojave at the dealership today. Looked real tempting.
The high velocity Mojave’s look great!
Beautiful build next time I buy new tires I’m getting Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T for my JL. I would love to see you test those on your channel.
Great suggestion!
Wheels: since you are on the fence on wheels Dirty Life DT you can go either way and they look great. Tires: I love my General Grabber X3's...great compound and quiet on the street. God bless and Happy Thanksgiving!
I ran dirty life a while back!
Perhaps consider Geolandar X-AT in 37x12.5r17? Tire depth is 19/32. Better than most other hybrid AT tires. (KM3 is 18/32). Specs show only 77 lbs & 13" wide. Cool tread pattern, great reviews, plus not everyone has them. Of course, you can't go wrong with STT Pro, Trail Grapplers or Baja Boss AT or MT. So many great options from which to choose. Enjoy shopping!!
Very good options!
Matt great video ! I added a matching fox steering stabilizer ! it really made a difference ! love your Jeep !
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Looks great 👍
True 38 Nitto would be as big as I would wanna go without 1 ton axles but 40s look so good though
Good call!
I usually always run mickey tires, but after A LOT of research, this time I went with the NEW milestar Patagonia MT02 tires, since your going beads, then these will suit you well, plus the 40s weigh 80 some pounds, I've watched guys in the snow, mud, rocks with these tires, and they all really like them. Just make sure you look at MT02 And not the older regular MT, 👍👍milestars website goes over everything that is new with the MT02 .
Interesting! Thanks for the comment!
Great job Matt! Loved seeing your Jeep going down the road with little or no steering input. I went with the MOPAR 2" lift to get my 2020 JLUR into my garage. I've had the steel steering box installed, a Fox ATS adjustable steering stabilizer, Milestar 37" tires, etc. Mine still wanders. Wondering if I need more caster.
Interesting!
37s since you are on stock axels. Also wanted Nittos but couldn’t get them. I was deciding between Yoko Geolander MTs and Coopers. Went with Yokos because they are a bit lighter. Price was basically the same
Interesting!
I’m looking at the 2.5 Clayton Overland with Bilsteins or Fox. I’m running 35” STT Pro on 20” rims w-19 offset, love the look…but the puck lift needs to go 😂
Toyo Open Country AT3’s in 37’s.
Good call!
17" Hutchinson Rock Monster wheels with Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tires. The Yokohama 37s weigh 11 lbs less than Nitto Trail Grapplers.
Lot of good comments on the Yokohama!
Matt, I use Mickey Thompson baja boss A/T's (35") on my rig, they have awesome grip on/off road & handle snow, mud & rocks without issue.
I say due to gas prices go with the 37" but splurge if you want the 40"s.
For wheels I like the Method series beads but saw that Dirty Life has ones that are very sharp & a bit lighter in weight than the Method series. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Great calls!
I second the mickey Thompson Baja boss AT. They perform excellent in wet conditions, and Offroad. They are relatively soft and the road noise is minimal.
Thanks for this review. I'm looking at a similar solution for my '22 XR but Ideally i'd like to stick with 35's.
The 2.5 would be perfect!
STT PRO's are top of the line tire i've been running them for years. But I just went with Milestar patagonia MT02 37x12.5x17 wanted 38x13.5x17 I've been seeing lots of people using them. So hopefully they work
Very nice!
Tires: I have no useful input here other than that I finally decided to pull the trigger on some 37s for my Mojave, and I'm leaning heavily towards Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts. Primarily because they look badass, but also because I'm throwing Quadratec Baja Xtreme wheels on as well, so I figured I would just stick with the same Baja theme and keep shit simple. :)
Tire Size: I think it would be hilarious to see your giant mustard bottle on 40s attracting weird looks from everyone in a quarter mile radius. If you do decide to go to 40s, I would LOVE to learn more about regearing, especially if you can do a video in the shop like what you did for the lift kit. I've seen a couple videos on it, but there's a lot of lingo that flew over my head while watching them.
Also, hear me out... DRC wheel center caps? Eh? :)
I love this comment!!!
Lucky you. I know the highest by law here in Quebec Canada is a 2.5-inch lift.
Dang!
I'm running Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 on my JK up here in Alberta all year around. They're a bit loud but I like the hum, they're a bit sketchy on ice (obviously) but they rock everywhere else. I got them through Amazon (>_
Amazon can have some good deals on tires!
How's the Clayton lift holding up in the winter ? I'm straight north of you in the Binghamton area they put down some evil stuff on our roads in the winter. I don't want my next lift turning into a rust bucket. Thanks !
I would love to see a Nexan, possibly a Roadian, tire test.
Good call Luke!
40’s? On those Dana44’s ? Might be pushing it. Think 37’s would be about max with those axles. But man 40’s would be the dream. Jeep looks awesome 👍🏻
I’m very undecided at the moment!
Mickey Thompson baja boss AT with method bead grip wheels
Nice ride-thanks again for the info. Warranty info helpful
Thanks so much Dawn!
Nice review! I’ve always enjoyed Clayton stuff. ✌🏻
I love their parts!
37" tire in a mild offroad ( no sing tires) Alum rims power coated yellow. Thanks
Oooo neat idea!
Try the maxxis razr mts, been very happy with them on mine , upstate ny, 4 winters now on two different Jeeps
Good call!
Thanks for the review my dude
Thanks Ryan!
37 will allow more flex, nothing worst than seeing a jeep with 4" lift and three inch bump stops! My two cents! Flex should matter both directions Upwards and Downwards
New to jeep just got a 2022 Willy’s 2 door thanks or all the information Iam looking forward to adding a lift I just don’t know what I want and help would be great I want to start off roading
Great idea thanks for watching!
Matt, is the Clayton your go to only preference??
I am considering an overland lift for my JLU XRecon.. I really want to eliminate the factory rake!
I do have a warn winch & aftermarket CavFab bumper.
Hey man!!! Love your channel!!! Check out kmc beadlocks and the Mickey Thompson Baja boss tires. AT tire with MT aggressiveness. Thanks!!!
I was actually thinking KMC wheels!
I am interested to see how your turbo is effected at all with the bigger tires. Man there are some deals on the Diesel Wranglers right now, I wonder why.................... No I don't really.....
Lol I wonder why
I’m a big fan of your content. Your videos of your suspension lift got me thinking about bigger tires for my
2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Do you have a recommendation for a 35” tire that will fit on the stock rim and suspension?
I would go for a 315/70/17 Bf Goodrich for the stock gladiator wheel! Thanks for watching!
8.5” wheel 4.75 backspace and a beadlock on 37”s
👍👍👍
for a 3.5" lift, what sort of supporting mods would you need to budget for?
great advice!
Is there an advantage to starting out with the Extreme Recon pkg? It looks like you have replaced almost everything. Thanks for the great videos
I like to start with this package due to the value of the parts and certain things that will stay!
Thanks for the review. Looking at Clayton's 2.5 for my 2021 JT. As far as shocks, know you went with the Fox shocks. Any reason Fox vs Falcon? Thinking Falcon SP2 2.1 shots..
I like the fox, I’ve run both and I think I prefer the fox a little more
How would this lift kit go with bilstein 5100 shocks?
How can I remove and mount my 35" spare from the tailgate to inside the cargo area?
With living here in the rain forest area in Washington state I run maxis A/T 37/12.50 17 and perfect in snow rain iceish type roads and great in MUD,MUD,MUD and on rocks I will never run anything else again
Good call!
Awesome video 😁👍
Thanks so much!
About the wheels…. A lot of viewers know about beadlock’s….. but…Do you think it will be worth to try the “Icon Rebound Pro” wheels?
Those are interesting and I’d like to check them out!

A set of raceline monsters wrapped in 37-40” trail grapplers
Ooooo nice call!
Looks great
Thank you sir!
Second. Go with the KM3s in a 37, boom!
Good call!
Let us know what load rating you go with on the tires you get! Some tires I like the look of only come in Load E but I've heard a lot of wrangler owners prefer the Load C.
I think the Nitto Ridge Grapplers seem like a great all around tire.
Will do!
So I have a Willy’s XR like your dad and thinking about doing a 1 inch spacer in front. I have a set of the Mopar lift LCA’s in my garage. Do you think those are necessary ?
It wouldn’t hurt to put them on!
What about dedicated snow tires?
Good idea!
What was your rationale in optioning your Jeep with the extreme recon package to then turn around and do a lift and now look at new wheels and tires? Wasn't that all just a waste of the dollars for the extreme recon package?
I did it for the gearing, axle upgrades, brakes, tire carrier, and then wanted to test it out, also the parts on the XR are worth almost as much as the package so I get to keep all of the rest and sell the wheels and tires for almost the cost of the whole package
@@DIRTROADCRED I was not aware of all of those other upgrades that came with the extreme recon package. I thought it was just a lift with 35s, the hinge gate reinforcement and the fender flares.
Hello Matt! How the Clayton lift kit compares with the Mopar one? Does it handles better, is it taller? I know the extreme recon is around 1.5 inch taller, the Mopar is 2.5 to 3 inches taller, that’s why I’m interested in a comparison. Thank you in advanced
I would say it’s a more complete kit and a bit taller, I like the ride much more!
@DIRTROADCRED 2.5 MOPAR from the factory on mine. Would you say the clayton lift has less body roll? And how is it at highway speeds (60+)?
Why you didn’t long arms?
Clayton didn’t have the kit yet!
What's wrong with KO2's? Seriously please let me know.
Nothing for what they are intended for, I just want something a bit more aggressive
I’ve seen your videos on the teraflex lift and now this one. Now I can’t decide on which lift to go with for my gladiator with 35s. It’s mainly a daily driver/ overlander with some mild weekend off roading. 2.5” or 3.5” Teraflex or Clayton? Any suggestions?
Definitely Clayton! Use our discount code
@@DIRTROADCREDClayton it is. Thanks so much for such a quick reply. Love your content.
So what tire did you end up going with?
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT
Just curious, what PSI are you running on the stock BFG's?
Right around 36 or 37
What gears u going to run,? 5:13 or 5:38
Probably won’t regear until I get axles!
How is it different than Mopar 2" lift kit - The Ride quality??
A lot smoother!
@@DIRTROADCRED but they are claiming that this lift kit has more firm springs! How is it possible that this lift is a lot smoother than Mopar one?! With all the respect, this is more advertisement video than a honest review!
How does it handle at 85? Seriously
I’ve had it up to about 75 and was happy!
BFG KM3
👍👍👍
39 inch km3s
😎😎😎

Thanks mike! I’ll make this one as big as my old gladiator 🤣

Very close to what I picked!

Kanati mud hogs
Interesting I’ll have to check them out!
Theres never any valid reason for 37 or 40 inch tires on a jeep...anything over 33s is 100% unnecessary, of course so is a 3.5 inch lift...
Toyo go with toyo and i went with rustys whole new steering system along with their tire their tire relocation brackets.
I had Toyo on my gladiator and liked them!
