As always good tips and I really appreciate that you are one of the content creators that isn't always trying to sell us things from affiliates and storefronts.
Hi Taryn! Huge fan of your channel here. Might you be ever open to possibly doing a dedicated video about setting your home up for function? And or staging typical steps for a family with one or more kids ahead of time?
Great topic! I was just thinking about the difference between a cheap vs luxury hotel. Luxury to me is enough hooks and storage where you need them, fluffy clean towels and pillows and throws, glass instead of plastic (use your “best”!), daily housekeeping, beautiful food prep.
I just ordered only a 32 inch TV, getting rid of 60 inch- 5 Tv s in my house- I want smaller- TY for making my living space easier Love A LL your videos KEEP the coming please
I don’t need a luxurious home. I need a home that is filled with love, laughter, and respect. A house is simply a building. It’s the people inside of it that makes it a home. Not the things that are placed within it.
Love the ideas. They give me something to think about 😅 I consider myself a minimalist but I don’t see anything wrong with having a little backup for important items that I always use. Just don’t overdo it 😉
I started a preps room .After working through covid ,I would get off work, go to the store, and the shelves would be bare. Now we never run out of anything. It's awesome. Great video ❤
Totally agree. Last summer I started making my home "easy". I have a dedicated closet with extras of consumables, bathroom items, pantry items that keep, paper products etc. All in anticipation of my retirement this year when my income is cut in half and I no longer have a car. I also have groceries delivered and buy multiples of sale items that I use all the time. Yes, I feel luxurious and no stress about running out of anything. Good video❤
We always have a back up. When we use up one, we add one to the shopping list. This way we always have one in the wings to make it through a transition. This goes for cleaning, personal health, and groceries.
I agree 10000% with you: make your house easy!! when I watch those minimalist youtuber putting everything out of sight, for instance coffee maker in the kitchen, puting them out again when needed, and back in the cupboard again, out, back..... hell for me, light years from luxury😂
Even being a minimalist I always have a replacement for toothpaste, deodorant, etc., and when I pull it out to go -- I replace it so I'm ready when the new one runs out. I'm not just a minimalist but I'm also well prepared :-) Ok, that was just tip one from you, now to continue...lol
I always buy backups. I just ran out of dental floss but I had a backup so no problem. I am running out of basil and parsley but I have backups so I don't have to go out in the cold rain to the store. The best thing about this is that it saves money. Get backups when they're cheap or on sale and by the time you need them, the price has usually doubled. Prices of things are always going up.
The key is to have ONE backup, as you said. I used to stock up on things like shampoo and body wash when they were on sale and some would go off because the preservatives eventually break down and lose their effectiveness. Even though I'm now a minimalist, I still keep a replacement for all our toiletries on hand. For the sake of organization, it's important to keep the spares separated from the products that are currently being used though.
New subscriber & love the channel. One of my tricks are to take photos of my space & then critique the photos on my computer as if I'm looking as someone else's room. To me, it's easier to spot the issues. I also look at it as, "Does this look like something you'd want to see in a magazine?" Love your budget friendly ideas and tips.
@tarynmaria_ I clean and organize as side hustle, and so many ppl are asking for help decluttering so they can list their homes... Not an easy task when the family has to continue living in it and also has to be ready for showings at any time.
Great tips. Love this approach to "luxury" which is different for everyone. For me luxury is buying extras/replacements.. but I buy more that 1. I buy enough for 4 months..I hate shopping!.. so I buy personal hygiene items, house cleaning products etc 3x year (every 4 mths)..washing powder for the washing machine 1x year. Then tins, jars, dry food products 4x yrs (every 3mths). Freezer shop 1x mth and fridge every 2 weeks... I LOVE not having to go shopping constantly... the noise, smell, and crowds stress me and don't seem like a way to relax. I want to go for a walk in nature rather than spend time shopping in my free time. Another luxury for me is a big open floor space in the living room to lie on, work on, play games, do sport, etc.. I hate the look of living rooms full of furniture, with everything crowded around a big coffee table. We have our sofa facing the TV and fire because I hate impractical sofa placement so you have to sit wrongly on the sofa or twist to watch TV... bad for posture.
Thinking in relation to no 3 about a guest, what would they see, I used to work in housekeeping in hotels and one tip I learnt was to place yourself where the guest would be - so lie on the bed, sit on the loo, lie in the bath. That way you could see what they would see and to make sure it was all clean at their eye level ! (As well as everywhere else)
I keep all my backups where I use them… aside from Costco tp & paper towels!! Lol. This way, I don’t have to go somewhere else to take inventory, and as we use things we can see we are low, and I put them on the list. No extra brain power needed!!
I don’t like going shopping for one off things. I use the same items for the most part so I will get 2-3 at a time and that will last me for months. I also take advantage of things that are on sale or clearance. I’m not going to pass up on something I use for the sake of minimalism. I do things that make sense for me and not try and stick with hard fast rules.
I wish you would show us how to make a good loaf of bread in your bread maker. I just made my fifth loaf of bread today and I haven’t tried it yet, but anything I met in my bread maker didn’t turn up the bread I made today is called peasant bread. It’s about 2 inches high.
Things you could try; ensure all ingredients especially liquid are room temperature, not straight out of the fridge. Check the use by date of your yeast, and read how to store it, some need to be in the fridge once opened. Try using slightly less liquid than the instruction book says, eg mine says 300ml of water, we use 290ml - hope this helps some 😊
I'm surprised you didn't list organization or decluttering. It's very hard for any space to feel luxurious when it's messy and full of stuff. You people know who you are.... dusty teapot collections sitting on the top of kitchen cabinets....shelving with your thimble collection in the living room. Doesn't read luxury.
This video was CLEARLY inspired by Caroline Winkler´s video on the same topic and I noticed that you take a lot of inspiration from other RUclipsr´s in general for your videos - which is fine, but I would really appreciate it if you just gave these RUclipsr´s some props...
I love Caroline Winkler's content but this video is not at all similar to her video on this topic. When I get inspired from other creators, I do mention them. A lot of RUclipsrs share similar ideas and it's hard to know where the idea started.
Not the video I was expecting based on the title. 👎#1 since you said no buying.. Maybe you mean to keep things purposely and properly shocked. But I agree with you on other points, custom, curated items and places often feel more luxurious.

I love what you did with your sunroom! Also enjoyed hearing your process of deciding what to put on the small table. It looks great.
Thank you so much!! ❤

Have you ever done a video with tips of how you would stage your home to sell, while also living in it?
I haven't but it's a good idea!!

Interesting - love that tip!!
5:00 great idea also using a mirror to “view” the room for a different perspective 😊
That's a great idea!
I know exactly what you mean about backups, I feel exactly the same way.😅
Thank you for sharing! ☺❤
I have a tray on my couch to hold my coffee because I don't want tables in there but the tray works perfectly
Love that!

I always have Backup,
Thank you for sharing!
I have "an heir and a spare" policy for most consumables. Stops a lot of stress.
Thank you!
I'm our family we say, "I feel rich!"
Love it!

I bake all my own bread, but find the smell overpowering. I have to keep my breadmaker in the garage! :)
@@jamesknightreading thank you for sharing!
Seriously?? It's the very best smell in the whole world!!
@@Anagrams458 I know. I like the smell, but it makes me cough. :)

Thanks! For the backups - my thought is, you're going to be buying those anyway, why not do it sooner and keep one handy :)
