I have only seen a couple of designers describe the beads for what they really are.... I mean, I am not kink shaming, but that is what i see when I look at those beads. It's funny how people are more offended by the little pickle on a figurine than sad beige sex toys on display 😂😂😂😂
Not sure why I watch these videos. We live in a quiant, but dated folk Victorian (actual) farmhouse where we still farm. Our decor items are almost all heirlooms or flea market finds, or memorabilia of some sort, like deer antlers from beloved hunts and throws our grandmothers crocheted. We have gradually updated the house whenever we could afford to add something needed, but there is still so much to do. That said, it is a very eclectic mix of function, nostalgia & a tight budget that is not perfect, but is home. Even still I enjoy your suggestions and simply listening to you speak. So thank you. 😊 You have such refined taste and a kind demeanor.
Homes like yours are probably the inspiration for many of these tips! Authenticity, charm, function - the exact opposite of trendy, soulless decor that I see so many people buy just to fill up blank spaces.
😄it sounds cosy, nostalgic and lovely🤗🌾🐓🐣🐥🧸💐☕️🛋️🫖🖼️after hard work it is nice to relax and enjoy whatever we have🌻🤗to live in peace and harmony☕️🫖🛋️🧸🖼️
Douche Bank, mini eggplant emoji memorabilia and poorly made anal beads- this is Reynard after dark!!! (also quietly deletes ladders and wooden beads from my home shop list)
I have one set of wooden beads that I actually quite like, so I won't be deleting them, ESPECIALLY now after Reynard's cheeky comment. Now I will think of him every time I see them.
Another very helpful video! As an alternative to fresh plants, I'd like to suggest sprigs of eucalyptus in a vase: The leaves of some varietals add texture to the space, and they also smell very good; plus, they look the same dried as they did on the tree. So, it ticks off three boxes (plants, aroma, texture)!
Air purifiers are key to removing smells. I have a small air purifier in my walk-in closet and, although all my clothes are clean, the closet can get stale without the air purifier. I bought a Honeywell and they run about $100. It has two filters, the main one lasts 6 months and second, a thin charcoal filter, I change once a month but sometimes just vacuum it to get another month's use.
Agree completely, have three in my home. When a beam of sunlight comes through the window there no dust floating in it. The very 1st thing visitors do when they walk thru the door is breath in a very deep breath taking in what they feel (& have said) is a breath of fresh air. It makes a big difference & is highly recommended.
I received a set of nice plates as a gift, and they really make having a meal so much nicer. It’s not something I thought would make a difference before having the experience.
The craziest advice I ever heard on social media was, "Decant everything," Waste of time, money and as you say, Reynard, what about instructions, expiry dates, ingredients??
Finally!! Anti garland beads and chain links on books and trays that are meaningless. I'd add the faux H throw blanket, Tom Ford books that 99% of RUclips interior decorators and designers have in every inspo and project. I do need to lift my standards on cushion inserts 😅
Our circa 1950s ranch is what I'd call animal friendly casual eclectic. We have cool carefully collected art pieces and expensive but old furniture. No extra pieces or knick knacks. All our good stuff was collected before we adapted our kitties. But so much of the stuff said to make a house look expensive would be destroyed within a day by our furry family members so high end has to give way to pet safe 😅
Siiirrrrrr 😂 not an*l beads 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 they reminded me of rosaries or mala beads 📿 I think that’s why they were on books and tables: like you placed them down after meditating or praying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOVED your sarcasm in this video!..and all points were so true... your string of beads comment was so funny 😂. Honestly, I also find them odd, even though I did end up making a small one from wooden beads and natural clay beads (I made) to hang off a basket on my first floor landing. I spray the beads with natural lavender oil or perfume as a room scent because I don't want a candle etc up there. So the little string of beads does "serve a purpose" and is not just decor.
Great video. I actually never heard about switching juice bottles into other containers but you know, I can see that being incredibly useful since the juice bottles are oddly shaped and are a pain to store in the refrigerator. Uniform shaped items are easier to organize.
Hi Reynold, love watching your videos they are so informative and am trying incorporating your ideas . Can you do a video on Mirrors , size , their placement and other technical details . What shape mirror again what wall and furniture . I want to put a big size mirrors that’s on the wall next to dinning table also the wall next to it is my aisle wall . A bit behind the dinning wall and that has an arch shape wooden decor . So anyone sitting in the living room can see both walls . Do I have to match my wall mirror with the arch shape or do I match with the rectangle dinning table ? Please please do the detailed video
All good points. Although I agree about not decanting stuff, it’s still a good idea to replace stuff with containers, like flour, cereal etc. For one thing, you keep everything tidy, clean from bugs and contaminants and easier to handle (although labelling with expiry dates may be necessary). Plus, “fruit in bowel” may sound like a good idea, but really, the risk of insects like cockroaches and flies getting on it would make it better to at least keep in plastic wrap (same with any other food items you might leave out like bread).
Lived in Hawaii, putting cereal, sugar, flour, oatmeal and ALL other pantry items in airtight containers was mandatory. You may not have any food source available. I laughed at the fruit bowl. Try that & you just created a insect Freak Off Party on your table. There will literally be lines across the floor, like people waiting at a buffet
Fresh air is really important to me, real smells from flowers or fruit or lemons. I can’t deal with fake smells, but do have my floors mopped with refined blue mallee eucalyptus from north Victoria.
im not sure why people who would pour store bought juice into new containers. but i love those containers because i love making large batches of tea or lemonade to drink throughout the week. Their super nice when used like that. and are enclosed unlike a traditional pitcher.
I've recently stumbled upon your videos and have enjoyed them quite a lot. I have been looking to high-effort redo a room in my place. I decided that the one that I would like to do the most is my bedroom. I am curious if you have opinions or recommendations on the use of platform or very low-profile/short beds/bedframes - let's say vertical heights less than 20" tall - mattress and frame. I find that I sleep best on firm bedding and prefer sleeping closer to the ground. My current bed/bedframe has a combined height of 15.5" and I would like to transition to a combined height of 9.5" in the future. As such, I am struggling to find many way to incorporate this into an overall room plan, especially since my bedroom architecture is very plain.
FWIW your preferred sleeping situation made me think immediately of a minimalist Japanese “Zen” style bedroom. IKEA’s Mandal bed frame with storage drawers could be an option, or even their Tarva bed frame with legs cut down to floor level would make it closer to the ground (making sure dust can’t be trapped underneath that you can’t get your vacuum to). Tarva is also very budget conscious although if you’re not handy yourself, you might need to get a carpenter to cut down the legs to be sure they’re even - this shouldn’t cost much though.
For me, curtains add some softness to a room that is essential. I particularly like three layers - sheer curtains for ethereal softness & privacy during the day, heavy curtains for blocking out light in bedrooms and climate control, and behind them both roller blinds for an additional layer of climate control at night. I’ve probably saved thousands of dollars in my lifetime by having this system. PS I’ve always hated venetian blinds because of the amount of cleaning involved, and although plantation shutters have a relaxed effect, they cut out SO much light if you don’t have a very bright, sunny room (ie they are great for homes on the equator, what they were originally designed for, but very few other places!)
What terrible person hangs books from a ladder! 😨😆 That's a new horror! I was just typing this comment and I got caught out by the beads comment!😂😂😂😂 I wasn't expecting you just to say what lots of people were already thinking so boldly!🤣
Have many fake plants, sometimes 2 or 3 together. The difference & the only reason it works, is for every fake plant I have 3 or 4 real plants in front of it. The fakes are just greenery in the background. & If at all possible the fake plant is the same plant as the real plant so the background foliage matches perfectly.
I've never understood those wood garlands either as they are very sterile and look more like you're staging a room rather than living in it. However, I have been known to use favorite necklaces as garlands as I am having contact dermatitis more often than not and don't want to give up my jewelry in case this improves. I also will take certain beads that inspire memories of the string and place them in decorative bowls, one in particular I purchased from craftspeople visiting our church from a third world country. The small wood bowl with intricate hand carving on the outside was all I could afford at the time and is a lovely piece that fits my room themes. But that is different because these are meaningful objects that tell parts of my personal story.
you've just ruined this for me... I'm so happy it's blond wood not stained brown. I had a double take about these wondering if you really said what you said :)
I’m back from a night out. Had a couple of drinks, and continued watching this video when I got home. I saw this and I’m like “what? Am I hallucinating?!” Your comment restored my sanity. Yep. He has a ….um….yeah…sculpture… 😂😂😂
I love house plants but looking after them doesn't fit in with my lifestyle. My solution is to pick beautiful flowers & grasses from my garden and dry them. I now have several dried arrangements that I enjoy looking at & bring texture to my home.
I hang them upside down in a wardrobe for 6-8 weeks. The colours change but are still rich and varied, and there is no wilting. Grasses are generally good for drying and some flowers are more suited than others. I've had success this year drying eryngium (sea holly), it's retained its lovely blue colour and provides structure in an arrangement.
I have to interject something quite unpopular: We all need to watch our money, but when it comes to lighting - do yourself a favor and spend money! Nothing can be as expensive as really well-designed lamps. Yes, I know, when you turn your eye to Luceplan, Tecnolumen or Artemide and see the price tag, it makes you dizzy. But I've only recently started spending more money on lamps and suddenly realize that although I've been saving money for years, I've also felt dissatisfied for years. Since I got some high-quality lamps, I've effectively saved money because I know, I will find them beautiful for years.
Between Douche bank, the wooden beads and the figurine from japan, this has been an interesting episode 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Agree very much with the take though - the concept of decorating without the decor having either functional or sentimental value does you (who lives in the home) a disservice .
🍆 and a 💍s, thanks for keeping it real. Actually this was one of my favourite videos of yours. Not for those reason 😂😂😂 I totally agree with the mugs, ladders and garlands and chains. I have one of those ikea grass looking plants in my bathroom that I’ve been meaning to put in the goodwill box.
I never liked those wood garlands/beads. For some reason they always reminded me of some kind of meditation beads. They look like they placed them on something was trying to add a zen Buddhist or monastery look to the place.
I am agonising over buying a pair of red low back poang chairs, comfortable, cheap, and great. Should I be sensible and not get red? Instead go for “expensive” neutral?
Nooo, those chairs can be a great accent colour if the rest is already neutral! It'll pull the eye to the sitting area, which one can assume it's at the center of the room :)
Like others have said, should get one that you like! Also red accent chair is completely fine, maybe can add some deeper reds or burgundy elsewhere in small accents in the room to tie it in.
I'll never be able to see those wood garlands without remembering your description as "misplaced an*l beads* 🤣
I have only seen a couple of designers describe the beads for what they really are.... I mean, I am not kink shaming, but that is what i see when I look at those beads. It's funny how people are more offended by the little pickle on a figurine than sad beige sex toys on display 😂😂😂😂
Super funny
Best line ever
I have to admit I burst out laughing at that,,,
This is the comment i was looking for. 😂 I couldn’t believe my ears. Love the humour 😂

A little cheeky today! I love it!
Haha I know, right? His humor came out in this one. I enjoyed it.
Same here. This video was brilliant.
I love how practical your suggestions and your dissuading are/is. We need more of this kind of interior design content.
Did you just said A**l-Beads?? DUDE!!! 😂😂😂🤣👍
Your 'crude' object had me rolling too. 🤭
Douche Bank, mini eggplant emoji memorabilia and poorly made anal beads- this is Reynard after dark!!!

Your crude object and your bead comment. Both hysterical lol. :)
I love kitchen herbs. They aren't just decorative, but smell nice and you can flavour food with them.
I totally agree with the beads 😮. I just don’t get it. I love your videos. Thank you 🙏 😊
The puppy in the basket! 😍💖

10:36 - you made me laugh out loud for real. Yes, I've always found those beads to be cliched and useless
The craziest advice I ever heard on social media was, "Decant everything," Waste of time, money and as you say, Reynard, what about instructions, expiry dates, ingredients??

@mariastathopoulos744 Yes the Tom Ford 📚 why would you want something that EVERYONE has?
I love your videos about good and not good decore. Thank you for making them. I always learn so much watching your channel.
You are so right. Not all trends fits one lifestyle. The juice bottle is a bad one. I so agree
i wish i’d known about the cushion sizing earlier but this gives me an excuse to get another cushion!

Btw that salt and pepper set you have on your table is GORGEOUS!
Great details ❤️
I love marble tables and columns...simply stunning. Throws look best of faux fur. I have never seen storage ladders 🪜 and it simply looks...cheap!!
These were without exception great tips! Other designers have made the same comment about the wooden beads.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing. Layering, contrast, texture - got it!
I would love to see your filming setup and the lights that you use for the sit down shots!
I do have beautiful plates cups etc. Wedgewood of 2 designs. And flowers, maybe some plants if enough light in my new home.

Hi! May I ask you what its name of the black lamp in your backround? Its amazing! Thank you:)
ohh! this one was different in tone. Always good avices, but today we can see a bit of your mood
I've recently stumbled upon your videos and have enjoyed them quite a lot. I have been looking to high-effort redo a room in my place. Pinterest has some gorgeous photos if rooms with very low bedding. I suggest assembling a gallery of inspiration photos there.
Mr. Lowell, Do you have any coffee table designs to recommend?
This could possibly be my favorite video. Everrrrrrrrrr. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Welp… I liked him before but I love him now! I love the calmness that was maintained while mentioning the crude object and .. um… beads lol
Some people told me I shouldn't get curtains, since my windows have blinds already.
They were wrong.
Amen!
For me, curtains add some softness to a room that is essential. I have blinds too, but I have light curtains permanently on the sides just to soften the look of window.
What terrible person hangs books from a ladder! 😨😆 That's a new horror!
I was just typing this comment and I got caught out by the beads comment!😂😂😂😂 I wasn't expecting you just to say what lots of people were already thinking so boldly!🤣
Beads comment is just great. So is that little ceramic shocker.
haha I thought my coffee hadn't sank in, it was hilarious to witness your sense of humor - finally someone said it!
Hey Rey, where are your dining chairs and table from? Thanks!
Subscribed! My videos keep getting reccomended after yours and Im so glad to have found your channel :) Thanks for your great content!
Useful as always! Could you please give advice on how to decorate a place with a high ceiling?
Picarón! Great video.
Fake green plants are so depressive for me, but dry real ones are great! 😂 🌿🍂🌿🌾 💡ty!!

@mrtim5363 👍🏻yes!! 🌾🪴🌱🌿🌾🌿🌾 it works when they match the real ones . Thank u! 🐻✌🏻
So, MANY COMMON SENSE suggestions!!👏🏾💯👍🏾
How do you know when and where to add prints in textured items such as cushion covers, throws, and curtains?
Great little statue, appreciate the ‘edginess’ …
I've never understood those wood garlands either as they are very sterile and look more like you're staging a room rather than living in it. Of the items that elevate, which two would have the most positive impact?
'Love your visuals. They are very calming and concisely relevant to what you are talking about. ' Hilarious quips caught me off guard.
I work at Douche Bank
Have you happened to find the misplaced anal beads I left there ?
Hahahaha
Spoiler alert: They're ALL douche banks.
I love your design ideas and views
I returned to this video to read all the comment updates and I was not disappointed. 🤣
Thanks Reynard 😊
Great tips and ideas 👍
you've just ruined this for me... I'm so happy it's blond wood not stained brown. I had a double take about these wondering if you really said what you said :)
Lol cracked me up when he said that!
😂
Nah 8:01 is WILD!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
I’m back from a night out. Had a couple of drinks, and continued watching this video when I got home. I saw this and I’m like “what? Am I hallucinating?!”
Your comment restored my sanity. Yep. He has a ….um….yeah…sculpture… 😂😂😂
10:38 “They look like misplaced anal beads”. Oh lord. I must be drunk.
do you have a link to those throws on the couch you showed please ty
I love house plants but looking after them doesn't fit in with my lifestyle. My solution is to pick beautiful flowers & grasses from my garden and dry them. I now have several dried arrangements that I enjoy looking at & bring texture to my home.
Ohh that’s amazing! How do you properly dry them without it wilting or changing colour?
I hang them upside down in a wardrobe for 6-8 weeks. The colours change but are still rich and varied, and there is no wilting. Grasses are generally good for drying and some flowers are more suited than others. I've had success this year drying eryngium (sea holly), it's retained its lovely blue colour and provides structure in an arrangement.
I absolutely love that you found a “fake” monstera tree 😂
Two more items for my next garage sale-a blanket ladder and those beads. 😯
The douche bank mug cracked me up. :)
iv got a great idea......why not get some RENDERING SOFTWARE? it would be great!
If you have a dedicated video on how to decorate different open space plz share the link of that particular video
is nobody talking about the crude memorabilia object? Basically the only reason I am even looking at these comments, come on people!
What about the misplaced anal beads? Did he mean to say that?
Is it supposed to be a peenis? Maybe he is gay. So?
Whoa! Ur gadget u showed! A total scock and funny.
When is his girlfriend going to realize…….. 😬
@@spicy1116a peeeenis with a peeeenis!!! lol he’s in denial
Great video, but I now *really* want a 'Douche Bank' mug!
Can you post the link for the black lamp in the background?
Temple & Webster had one very similar: Black Kennedy Metal Floor Lamp, but they are out of stock.
Wow he really went there with the wood garland comment!
What fabrics are pet friendly?
1050 denier nylon
10:10 my cats would attack those dumb garlands. Just call them cat toys 😂
I have to interject something quite unpopular: We all need to watch our money, but when it comes to lighting - do yourself a favor and spend money! Between Douche bank, the wooden beads and the figurine from japan, this has been an interesting episode 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Agree very much with the take though - the concept of decorating without the decor having either functional or sentimental value does you (who lives in the home) a disservice .
🍆 and a 💍s, thanks for keeping it real. Actually this was one of my favourite videos of yours. Not for those reason 😂😂😂
I totally agree with the mugs, ladders and garlands and chains. I have one of those ikea grass looking plants in my bathroom that I’ve been meaning to put in the goodwill box.
My cats adorn all soft surfaces with their hair. And scratch whatever they can get their get their claws on.
8:03 ayyyyyyy YO
I’m here for the humor.. cuz I don’t like the beads anyway but def is giving anal vibes.. call a spade a spade 😂
I never liked those wood garlands/beads. For some reason they always reminded me of some kind of meditation beads. They look like they placed them on something was trying to add a zen Buddhist or monastery look to the place.
ay yo what sweater is that
Hahaha I have always said those garlands look like a-beads 😅
I was not prepared either time 😂
The anal beads help XDD Great advice as always Reynard!!
Whaaat?
What about a___ beads lighting fixtures in celebrities' homes? 😅
The monstera plant😂😂😂😂
That fake IKEA grass plant can look really good given the right pot and put somewhere that will be viewed from a distance
Fr who came up with the beaded garland only on the Christmas tree but also not for me thank you 😂
Thank you so much for this. Very helpful and made me laugh "anal beads" 😂
10:38 wait.. what?? I had to rewind twice to make sure I heard correctly 🤣
Not the an*l beads 🤣🤣🤣😝
You got me at missed placed anal beads!!! Lmao 😂😂😂 💀💀 love your videos! ❤
Bro, "velvet" is not pronounced "vel-vay". It's "vel-vit".
Sis, “velvet” is not pronounced “velvet-vit”. It’s “vel-vette”. 😉
Anal beads lmao!!. Back at it with the humor.
If you like them, buy them, they will make you smile 😊 when you see them and that is the aim, to love your home 😊
Like others have said, should get one that you like! Also red accent chair is completely fine, maybe can add some deeper reds or burgundy elsewhere in small accents in the room to tie it in.
Wait, what!!!
I have problem with humid smell 😢
I can’t deal with textiles thrown or arranged on couches. It’s severely worrying. Cushions are fine.
