What I love about every 2003 Shredder is that he was evil. There was no some overdone backstory to give him more complex motivation. He was evil just for the sake of being evil, acting on his basic greedy and power hungry motivations. You rarely get those types of villains today and that's why this Shredder aged so well.
@@_Mr.Black_ lmao truuuuue. I remember alot of people saying "evil for evil's sake" villain were super boring and now i'm seeing more and more people want them back
I remember when I was a kid (2000s) everyone was getting sick of these villains who were just evil for no reason. That’s why there was the shift to those misguided villains
You could tell that the creators put there heart and soul in this shredder this is why this is everyone's favorite shredder I sure as hell know it's mine
I like 2012 more because I like that 2012 shredder was actually human turned monster. I also like his backstory with hamato yoshi aka splinter more than hamato yoshi and splinter being 2 different people.
2012 is my favorite, the ideal shredder would have been the utrom side of shredder as a version of krang and the human half of shredder being a normal human
2003 Turtles was hands down the best animated version of Turtles to date IMO and I was around for the original 1987 series. Half the time many of the 2003 episodes were like watching a movie. Many plots and subplots. The storylines were that good. Excellent video.
@cowchipsbotme The Japanese elements added in 2012 are rather cringy though like adding random Japanese words and sentences (something that only weebs would do) . 2003 knew how to balance between Japanese traditions and the modern New York since after all, the Turtles are American teenagers. 2003 has better stories and characters. 2012 Mikey is so wimpy and annoying. Mikey is supposed to be the one that has the most raw talent and he can beat Raph when he is serious. Somehow, 2012 looked down on Donnie and Mikey as weaker fighters than Raph and Leo but that isn't true.
What I will most remember about this guy will be how he will be the guy who ALWAYS says "none of you will leave here alive" against enemies who always leave wherever they're fighting him alive.
2003's Shredder is hands down my favorite, especially Ch'rell. he was just pure evil ( and he didnt even need a demon to be that bad... ), i loved his design and how bad he was. and not gonna lie that twist threw me for a loop, didnt see it coming. he just refused to say down. dont get me wrong i love the 2012 Shredder, but this one just had something to him that most dont have, im not sure how to explain it.... depending on how well the Shredder is how i judge a TMNT series. i might be hoping for too much, but i do hope Rise come out with a Shredder, and that he is somewhere as cool as the past few we got. this was an awesome vid dude, please keep up the great work
I wouldn't hold your breath of Rise of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That series I believe is bound to flop. I knew it would be bad, judging from the commercials. Also, the Turtles didn't even fight crime as kids. They were training to be ninjas, so I doubt Shredder will be thing in Rise. I mean, Shredder in the 2003 series wasn't known to the Turtles until they were 15.
@@CassandraPantaristi They had the gauntlet and the creators confirm that classic characters will return in due time at some point dude your just being paranoid. Also the film could have a sequel that shredder returned. Here is this video ruclips.net/video/9wP_5d9vsN4/видео.html
Kids today being worried that they won't get their Forknight skin, back in my day getting the Shredder action figure was like an Indiana Jones adventure itself
I own the OG Shredder figure from first release wave. It says 2002 on his foot. I also a second figure that came out later, this one had a removable helmet. Never owned the Feudal Shredder.
@@filipbabic4913 One could also say: "Kids back in the 80s being worried that they won´t get the Shredder action figure, when back in the 50s they didn´t even have television..." I mean, is the same kind of logic.
I grew up with the 2003 turtles and they’re still my favs by far. It had just the right amount of both goofy hijinx and being totally serious. Plus these guys had inter dimensional, spiritual, mythical, time traveling and cyber chasing adventures.
I love the 2003 series and Scottie Ray was the perfect voice for the Shredder. He sounds like a demon who has risen from the depths of hell. However, one thing I like more about the 2012 series is that Shredder's a more complex character. The 2003 Shredder was evil just for the sake of being evil, which is fine for a demonic character but the 2012 Shredder has a more interesting personality. He was a man who never matured to a point where he could acknowledge his own mistakes and therefore always blamed them on others, especially his adopted brother Hamato Yoshi AKA Splinter. He also showed genuine love for Karai and was upset when she turned on him and when she was mutated. The 2003 Shredder revealed he was an Utrom to her but aside from that, he treated her more like a valuable weapon than a daughter. Hell, I suspect he only revealed he was an Utrom as a contingency plan to make sure she knew how to save him in case he was ever in a situation where his exo-suit couldn't protect him.
Ah, so that's who voiced him. Perfect choice. Yeah the 2003 version of TMNT was the best and had the best version of the Shredder. Hell the opening of the 2003 version of TMNT was awesome.
It`s weird when you watch interviews of Scott Rayow`s IRL speaking voice and you realize those demonic Ch`rell,Tengu Shredder and Anubis voices came out of a portly flamboyant-sounding dude from the Midwest.
I love how everything ties into everything else in the series. This is what those 80-90's anthropomorphic animal shows lacked when they tried to copy TMNT; TMNT had comic-book esque story telling. I like how the Ch'rell and his footclan took color motifs from the Original Orokusaki's palette, and also how the foot symbol was the guardians symbol flipped upside down, to resemble a foot with three toes lol. Also how it's true to Japanese folklore because Tengu's are enemies of buddhism and promise tempting power to cause even the most devoted to fall into buddhist sin.
Ch'rell is an embodiment of the stereotypical megalomaniac: bloodthirsty, insane, selfish, vengeful and relentless. He hates anyone who challenges, impedes, or otherwise wrongs him, holding grudges long after the fact - in some cases, this can even become an almost pathological hatred against them. After Ch'rell had assumed the identity of the Shredder, his megalomania became even stronger, to the point of calling himself the "one true Shredder."
@Origami Master Yoda He's actually the most accurate to the comic book. Capturing the complete evil of the Shredder so the fakest is actually the truest version of him.
He murdered millions of beings, not to mention all his crimes in the 1,000 years on Earth. He was completely psychotic. No other Saturday morning cartoon character comes close of equaling the evil that was the Ultrom Shredder.
Not to mention he ripped off a body part of Baxter Stockman every time he failed him. Chrell is a fucking psycho. The most EVIL villain in any TV show EVER.
I stil believe this is the definitive version of the ninja turtles outside of the original and idw comics. That being said, Utrom shredder was arguably the most terrifying version of the character, I would always hold my breath when the turtles confronted him just because of how utterly ruthless he was. The tengu shredder was ok , I didn't really enjoy the mystical approach of season 5. But I do appreciate the lore of the true shredder and how ch'rell was inspired to take on his name. The Karai shredder was cool but too brief, I thought it was pretty devastating for Karai to take on her father's mantle as the shredder.
One slight mention of the Utrom shredder is the TMNT episode "same as it never was." it gives the idea of what would have happened if Torell had succeeded in making it back to his utrom home world and returned to earth like he said he would as it's destroyer. At least i think so, anyways, Loved your video! :D
the fact that 4kids of all companies made arguably the most terrifying depiction of Shredder will never stop being one of the most ironic and hilarious things ever.
It's kinda funny to think that the guardian guy, the one from the plot hole. Is that one guy who snuck away to use the bathroom just as the Utroms where telling everyone who the shredder was. And somehow never caught on after.
I wish Ch'rell the Utrom Shredder's spirt can merge with the Real Oroku Saki's soul and The The Shredder Tengu's soul already merged with The Real Oroku Saki's Spirt. That still be 2003 Shredder.
Alot of people just won't understand you had too be there back in 03 too see this show from the beginning every Saturday morning was intense I'm 24 now and still get that same feel whenever I watch it!!!

I don’t know much about the 1980s Shredder, but I wouldn’t call him a fool. I definitely thought he was more comedic than menacing though. Though, again, I haven’t seen much of him. I never saw the original cartoon. I’ve only seen a few clips, including the one where he says “But I don’t want to conquer Dimension X, I wanna to conquer Earth” like a pouting child (which is just one moment, so I can’t judge him completely by that).
Another thing that makes this Shredder great is that he has very ambitious goals like he doesn't just want to take over the world, he wants to take over the Universe and the Multiverse
I see I have come across the lore master of the 2003 TMNT series. My favorite iteration. This series sure got dark especially for a show aimed towards kids.

I truly loved the 2003 TMNT which was more faithful to the Mirage comic stories. It was like the stories was just copy and paste on in the animated series. I had to say that The Shredder AKA Ch'rell was truly the best thing that happened to that show and in my opinion one of the best Shredder. I guess that surprised twist of him being a Utrom was to try something different and to catch the fans/viewers off guard because in the Mirage comics he didn't last that long. Are you going to do Top 10 TMNT 2003 Episodes [ Season 7].
Utrom Shredder is one dangerous foe and is one of my favorite fictional villains ever. Ruthless till the end! Especially the Demon Shredder, he's pretty wild.
The 2003 version has the biggest and most complex story, ranging from thousands of years before the present, till hundred years later, basically i really like the ancient and mystical plot with outher alien races
Ch'rell didn't kill the smiths of the Sword of Tengu, they're just severely injured. They're seen getting up after getting blasted. I plan on 3D printing the Sword of Tengu and getting a real Ronin blade for the hilt. The 3D printed Sword of Tengu can be found on Etsy.
This version of shredder is what shredder is supposed to be, especially his portrayal in season 1. They did his character justice rightfully showing him as a merciless and highly intelligent warrior. This shredder is what the leader of the ruthless foot clan ninjas, the ones responsible for almost half the bad shit happening in the world, should look like.
Wow i just realized how much about the 2003 series I didn't know. It's been my favourite turtles series form what I did watch and now knowing all this just makes it my favourite series even more! Thanks you making this video

This show is to me the perfect version of Tmnt, even though I never saw every single season. Great video
The reason this awesome show is overlooked is simply because it ain't the 1987 cartoon. And even though he was posessed by a Tengu, I'm glad we still got a human Oroku Saki/Shredder in this series.
The 2012 TMNT series shredder the best version of the shredder because ninja turtles fans have more or less been in love with the legend of the shredder than the actual character. The 2012 series actually gave us a dive into the shredders character and his motivations.
Best thing about TMNT 2003 was that they didnt take away the grossness like the mutants, Utroms biomechanical science or the fact people actually died in these series.
To the end... Saving this video as I seek to be a writer. What you provided was a sense of direction of what it means to develop a character...Recognizing what are his/her motivations, values and thoughts...what gives a character depth. Thank you. Had a great time watching.
Utrom shredder may not be the original but he earned the title, he caused many atrocities across the galaxy, survived death many times he is worthy of the title

I think alien shredder is my favorite he scares the hell out of me and his the most unique one in the 2003 tmnt not physically the most powerful one but I still love ❤ him
The first 03 Shredder was the most maniacal version ever, even compared to the scary looking shredder in 2012. 2012 was just as bad but 03 had no remorse for Karai, he just use their loyalty and end them if they either betrayed him or failed him (poor stockman). Brutal to the Squshy core. I still remember "that" quote. "Those how are not with me are against me!" "And I crush anyone who stands against me!
Mashimi did join the Guardians as Yoshi did, but he became jealous because Yoshi was advancing in the guardians, and he had also earned the love of Tang Shen. Mashimi let his jealousy consume him causing him to betray his best friend by joining the foot clan, murdering Tang Shen, and leading an attack on the Utrom's base of operation.

The show was in the same role as batman the animated series, teen titans, young justice, wolverine & x men, spectacular spiderman , avengers earth's mightiest heroes

In my book the 2003 series has the best Shredder with the 2012 Shredder a close second
SHREDDER HE,S THE BEST POWERFUL EVIL HEARTLESS VILLAIN I EVER MEET HIM AND NOW THE SHREDDER HE BECOMES MY FATHER ORUKO SAKI JR
ABOUT TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES OUT OF THE SHADOWS PS3 VIDEO GAME
@TMNT FOREVER: I disagree. 2003 *Was* the best, BUT 1987 was close second in *My* book. 2012 was crap! Otherwise I'd lose sleep pulling all nighters watching it, instead of looking for 2003 series on DVD
Alysa Aiday yeah no 2012 was not crap, it was extremely well written amazing fighting scenes and even managed to go darker than the 2003 series. Sounds more like your just blinded by nostalgia and just have shitty taste in shows
@@JadenMoon1475 1987 shredder is just a clown. He has about 5 serious episodes, and even then he's mediocre compared to these versions, specially 2003.
What I love about every 2003 Shredder is that he was evil. There was no some overdone backstory to give him more complex motivation. He was evil just for the sake of being evil, acting on his basic greedy and power hungry motivations. You rarely get those types of villains today and that's why this Shredder aged so well.
Ah yes, villains who are evil for evil's sake, a dying breed indeed, and these Shredders were some of the best
People wanted "complex villains". It's going full circle now people want simple evil dudes again.
Your generation is screwed
You could tell that the creators put there heart and soul in this shredder this is why this is everyone's favorite shredder I sure as hell know it's mine
Except it's not everyone's favorite shredder.
I just got back into the 03 series and he definitely is my favorite now
I like 2012 more because I like that 2012 shredder was actually human turned monster. I also like his backstory with hamato yoshi aka splinter more than hamato yoshi and splinter being 2 different people.
2012 is my favorite, the ideal shredder would have been the utrom side of shredder as a version of krang and the human half of shredder being a normal human
..which shredder?
ironic the shredder was defeated by his own counterpart's most incompetent henchmen
lmao
2003 Turtles was hands down the best animated version of Turtles to date IMO and I was around for the original 1987 series. Half the time many of the 2003 episodes were like watching a movie. Many plots and subplots. The storylines were that good. Excellent video.
Glad u said that I grew up on the originaland is 36 now. I'll check out this tmnt
@@AbAb-xt8pc hope you are loving it. You got everything. Fights. Villains. Drama. Time travel. Space travel. Like the writers built a legacy.
2012 was very decent, yes. But doesn't come close to 2003. Never.
@@rhian6459 Nothing does.
What I will most remember about this guy will be how he will be the guy who ALWAYS says "none of you will leave here alive" against enemies who always leave wherever they're fighting him alive.
“Ch’Rell, also known as Torrinon, Tako Naso, Duke Akureds, Oroku Saki, and the Shredder.”
Still remember that incredible two-parter to this day.
You forgot to mention the elite guards had nice hats
They were hints of his existence though like gaunlets
@@vikingfromnorth45 But also look at the TMNT 2007 film. Shredder isn't in that one, but his helmet is in their lair.
@@CassandraPantaristi They had the gauntlet and the creators confirm that classic characters will return in due time at some point dude your just being paranoid. Also the film could have a sequel that shredder returned. Here is this video ruclips.net/video/9wP_5d9vsN4/видео.html
@@vikingfromnorth45 No I am not being paranoid. I just don't have faith in the new series.
Kids today being worried that they won't get their Forknight skin, back in my day getting the Shredder action figure was like an Indiana Jones adventure itself
Fuedel shredder i looked for for so long.
@@monkeyjesus3470 for me he was everywhere but the OG Shredder wasn't
I own the OG Shredder figure from first release wave. It says 2002 on his foot. I also a second figure that came out later, this one had a removable helmet. Never owned the Feudal Shredder.
I have a lot of respect for my mom. She managed to get all 4 turtles, Splinter, Shredder, and a slightly broken Casey Jones
He is the one true shrreder
Boo yah
Thank god there are still people out there who remember and love the 2003 series. Best cartoon of all time!
man i miss this show i hope they remaster or continue it
Nah, I want a continuation but I'm scared they'll ruin it with a remake
TheAdamSmasher Multiverse The remake actually was good
This is seriously my favorite series! I loved the plots but honestly got confused at the shredder parts thanks for clarifying!
Ch’rell The Ultrom Shredder is without a doubt the most evil cartoon character of all time.
Certainly the most evil TMNT version of the Shredder and the most evil TMNT character in general.
So evil he almost annihilated the entire Turtle Multiverse!
He murdered millions of beings, not to mention all his crimes in the 1,000 years on Earth. He was completely psychotic. No other Saturday morning cartoon character comes close of equaling the evil that was the Ultrom Shredder.
I'd say trigon's got him beat.
I wish Karai was Shredder for longer too. She would be like Ch'rell, but with some actual depth and personality.
Agreed.
One slight mention of the Utrom shredder is the TMNT episode "same as it never was." it gives the idea of what would have happened if Torell had succeeded in making it back to his utrom home world and returned to earth like he said he would as it's destroyer. At least i think so, anyways, Loved your video! :D
Ch`rell.His name`s Ch`rell.Also Duke Acureds,Torinnon,Oroku Saki and The Self-Proclaimed "One True Shredder!"
ch'rell is probably the best version of the shredder.
he could even be considered an homage to krang with how he is.
Yeah, I always considered him to be a fusion of Shredder and Krang.
the fact that 4kids of all companies made arguably the most terrifying depiction of Shredder will never stop being one of the most ironic and hilarious things ever.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video, and I hope some of my 2003 series lovers appreciated this one! Foot Elite Tomei... Welcome back! :D
Thank u!!!

Good taste!
To this day I still legit imagine the Sword of Tengu be something ANY version of Shredder should have now because of the 2003 Shredder.
1984: A One Time Villain
1987: A Fool
2003: Genocidal
2012: Worst Father Ever
90’s: A Real Person
2014: A Transformer
2018: Tengu Shredder Vibes
2019: Able to take on Batman
2007: 🤷♂️
1987 Shredder wasn't a Fool!
I don’t think 1987 is a fool he’s just misguided and obsessed
I don’t know much about the 1980s Shredder, but I wouldn’t call him a fool. I definitely thought he was more comedic than menacing though. Though, again, I haven’t seen much of him. I never saw the original cartoon. I’ve only seen a few clips, including the one where he says “But I don’t want to conquer Dimension X, I wanna to conquer Earth” like a pouting child (which is just one moment, so I can’t judge him completely by that).
1997: A bum on the street
darkest show 4kids ever did .... my intro into the tmnt verse .....hands down one of the best cartoons out there .......season 1-5
Agreed.
Season 6 and 7 were a bit unnecessary and weren't consistent enough.
The movie was perfect though.
Another thing that makes this Shredder great is that he has very ambitious goals like he doesn't just want to take over the world, he wants to take over the Universe and the Multiverse
This series of TMNT is severely underrated.
I see I have come across the lore master of the 2003 TMNT series. My favorite iteration. This series sure got dark especially for a show aimed towards kids.
And as a kid I appreciated every minute of it
I love the Utrom Shredder most cause he had a long moment in the episode beside the other Shredders. But that's my opinion
CODY SHARP JASON JR HE LOVES HIS OWN 4 SHREDDER CLONES FROM THE PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE
THE NIGHTMARE SHEREDDER TENGU DEMON SHREDDER MEGA SHREDDER AND THE MECHANICAL LEGENDARY EVIL VILLAIN THE CYBER SHREDDER
I love how The Utrom Shredder basically created His greatest enemies on accident
Utrom Shredder: The most psychotic.
Tengu/Demon Shredder: The most powerful.
Karai as Shredder: The most perplexing and tragic.
Cyber Shredder: The most resourceful and driven.
So cyber would’ve been like the joker’s return in batman beyond movie
Ha! You though you defeated me? I'm back again after 128 fake deaths!
Lmao
*TO ME, CH'RELL WILL ALWAYS BE THE DEFINITIVE SHREDDER*
Great vid man! I loved how you analyzed Shredder in great detail! Still waiting for more.

Nice video, man! Best animated TMNT series there is, and that's coming from someone who grew up with the original '80s series.
Best *TMNT* series ever
2003 Shredder is one of the best villains ever, also his voice and theme is awesome
So happy this was in my recommended. This was my favourite show growing up and I had a box set of episodes I watched for a long ass time. Shredder was and still is my favourite character in all cartoons, he was just so fucking cool and now this video gave me a full rundown of his backstory that just makes me love him even more.
Teddy Beer people really only talk about the 1987 or the newest show in progress
I love how the 80s turtles beat Shredder prime by throwing junk at him...
The 2012 TMNT series shredder the best version of the shredder because ninja turtles fans have more or less been in love with the legend of the shredder than the actual character. The 2012 series actually gave us a dive into the shredders character and his motivations.
Yes many people love to oversee 2012 shedders character
He's by far the most unique shredder and the best shredder
Best thing about TMNT 2003 was that they didnt take away the grossness like the mutants, Utroms biomechanical science or the fact people actually died in these series.
To the end...
Saving this video as I seek to be a writer. What you provided was a sense of direction of what it means to develop a character...Recognizing what are his/her motivations, values and thoughts...what gives a character depth.
Thank you. Had a great time watching.
Wow thanks! Which character should I do next?
Utrom shredder may not be the original but he earned the title, he caused many atrocities across the galaxy, survived death many times he is worthy of the title
Ah...this was refreshing! As a long time shredder fan, I'm glad someone took the time to discuss the 2003 series version! I don't have a fave as I love them ALL!
I almost cried when Hamato came back and saved the Turtles and saying goodbye to Splinter. It was so good.
Good job dude, you had nicely presented that hole story that has excelent plot twist, with all that worlds, dimensions and characters that turtles met. Really good job for putting that huge story all together.👍
But still, he was a total BadAss.
This is a really informative video. Thank

Definitely my favorite Shredder. Great video, Leo! 👍
I wonder how Japan in this series feels about Oroku saki, given that he has lived for so long and he modeled himself after a mythical being.
OMG why the hell nobody ever talk about the 03 series? It's clearly the best. Oh also season4 ep13 changed Leonardo's LIFE!!!!
This show needs to come back it was soo good and had so much more to give, and the world building was the most underrated part od it
And with the Original Artstyle.
yeah i really loved that show. and I really appreciated how they treated shredder and made him look dangerous and intimidating. but i kinda didnt appreciate the reveal that he was an utrom
I was more ocd about the show being so different from the old one back then, and though I mostly got over it, making Shredder and Krang basically the same character in the 2003 series still doesn't quite sit right.
Wow Utrom Shredder is Amazing I'm starting to watch this I'm on Season 4 Episode 7
Shokanabo is kinda the shredder of season 6.
As a kid I used to call him alien future shredder
I love your 2003 series reviews and videos

To me, Utrom Shredder felt like a dark mix between Oroku Saki Shredder and (a more serious) Krang.
For obvious reasons lol.
