Always start with hard solder, as this is the first solder joint there is no need to use easy solder.
I'm assuming it works on her pieces with soft solder as well since she will add it last.....?
You explain everything so well i love all your videos. Thank you for your educational and empowerment of metalsmithing artist tutorials. Its not as easy taking classes nowadays b.c not all places want to open up for in person classes.
Wow, thank you! I am so glad you are finding these videos helpful!😊❤
I really appreciate the effort in listing all the products you use. This was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial, succint, clear, sped up where necessary. Learned a lot , thanks! 🙂👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos! You make it seem effortless! Can I ask about a website that has the flower templates? I'm having a hard time finding a simple 5 petal flower! Thanks!
Thank you so much! I actually found those templates on google and simply copy and pasted them to a word document!😊
Do you offer any in person courses? I am enrolled in one beginners course in metal smithing for the last week in September but would love to get a 2-4 week intensive in Southwest style jewelry design.
Very nice! But why didnt you use a hard solder since its the first solder joint?
Thanks! And I typically only use hard solder when there are multiple solder joints in a piece :)
With this method can you go even smaller with the size of the flower?
How tick that silver sheet is? Nice video. Very well explained.
Thank you! And I was using 22ga!
Super video ... I've been needing to know how to make these. Thank you. I've been having a hard time finding a straight line stamp that is small like yours. Would you share with me the source of where you bought your's?
Thank you! This is the link to the line stamp, however it appears it might be sold out. :/ www.etsy.com/listing/215719415/metal-stamp-hand-made-tool-rcs-1479-sh3?ref=yr_purchases
Nice tutorial. I would prefer the hardest solder for the little ball. so in the future I can solder this flower to any other project without risking it fall apart. agree?
If you have good heat control it actually should be just fine!😊
Love it! Thank you for sharing!
Can I ask what size line is that how many millimeters?😍
Thank you so much! ❤️ And oh gosh, I honestly can’t remember. Maybe 3mm if I was to guess?
I've been looking for a video on this!!! Thank you. Subscribe! 🥳🥳
I’m so glad you like it! Thank you so much!!🙏🏻❤️
Hello can you tell what the liquid it call please to button them black, I can’t see it in your list, unless it’s called something different. Thank you love your works it’s absolutely beautiful ❤
Midas Black Max!
Do you have a list of the tools and materials you use, your saw looks very effective, and apart from obviously your good technique it seems a better model than what I use and worth an investment.
Yup ,here is the link to my Amazon storefront for all tools/materials: www.amazon.com/shop/spiritmountainsilver
Thanks so much for sharing your talent and knowledge with us 'fledglings!'
Thank you! What an awesome tiny flower! ❤
Would a wood daping block just as well?
Thank you for this video
It should!
What thickness of silver sheet would you recommend?
I believe I used 24ga for these!
Iam also a goldsmith, 👍
Thank you so much for this! I appreciate your time! 🥰
You’re welcome! ☺️
What if i wanted to solder the flower to something? do i do these steps first? or clean up after?
With proper heat control you should be able to solder the flower to something no problem! I usually use easy solder for this
Very pretty! Thank you for sharing it. I like the inspiration quotes on your bench! You are great!!!
Aww thank you so much Lisa!!☺️❤️
Thanks! Enjoyed the video. The flowers are so cute.
I’m glad you liked it! Thank you!😃
Thank you for the explanation of what why how. I have never see a video of the saw being lubricated. Didn't know that needed to be done. I have been learning on you tube. I haven't implemented any skills yet. I am subscribed and ready for more
Thank you so much! I’m glad it was helpful!!
🥰 just what I was looking for... thank you so much.
Many hugs xx
Oh I am so glad!! You're welcome!!😊💕
can someone tell me the correct size wire saw to use when cutting silver like this? i am new to silversmithing and my dad luckily had a saw like this but i need to order a string blade and i dont know which size to get ! There is like hundreds online! just the most common size / sizes
It depends on the thickness of the metal. There are many reference charts online that will tell you the size of blades to get.
❣️❣️❣️
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome!😃
❤

This is a beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing! Super helpful! I have been working on cutting out stamps. I’m curious, what size of saw blade are you using for these small bits? 🙏🏼🥂❤️🔥
Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful! I determine the size of the sawblade based on the gauge of metal I’m working with. I typically use 5/0 for 22 gauge. In this video I have a chart showing which size saw blade to use with each gauge of metal. I’d check it out! ruclips.net/video/papzumc6Lzg/видео.html
Great job!! I can’t wait to try and make these!!
Thank you so much!! Hope you enjoy!
what do you do with your silver waste off-cuts when you cut something out? Thanks
I use the scrap for either backplates, stampings, or melt it down in to granules
I cursed in envy when I saw your awesome dapping die, I apologize.
😂😂🙏🏻
do you have to oxidize it?
I only oxidized it though for the purpose of this video to show the detail of the final product! I will be using this flower to adorn a statement turquoise pendant I am working on. Once everything is soldered and polished for the pendant, I will then re-oxidize the entire piece (including this flower embellishment) :)
Wonderful video! Thank you for making it. Can't wait to try this. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!! :)
FANTASTIC!!!! Thx 🙏🏻 uuuu!! 😃💖
Aww thank you!!❤️❤️
This is great! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Wow that is intricate!
It’s a labor of love!!😁
Wow, so interesting to watch. A lot of work into making one flower. Great demo, many thanks!
Thank you! Cheers!
Interesting but very wasteful, cutting a tiny flower in the middle of your sheet???
Haha I’ve address this comment already once before. It is very difficult to film yourself while
silversmithing…. and this was probably my 30th take🤣. I’m aware it’s wasteful but I was determined to get a good video for all my viewers, and after filming and messing up time and time again, I wasn’t going to scrap this final
take because I wasn’t on the very edge of the sheet like I should have been. Now that would have been wasteful! Plus, I’m sure most folks watching will know to not be as wasteful when they go to try this out themselves. Silver ain’t cheap.
@@SpiritMountainSilver I did wonder that it easier for filming. My first tutor in 1977 did say that it was something that was done by her students who did not get the most out of their metal. The cost of silver these days makes you get the most out of your sheet which I have always done as I am also a dressmaker so used to dovetailing with minimal wastage.
It’s never really a waste for me if I have to I will but I could always melt it down and then draw it back out to a sheet with my hammer and anvil.
So cute!!!!
Very nice! Thanks for sharing 💜
You are so welcome!!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing 🌺
Thank you! Cheers!❤️
This would make a cute little ring too
It would!
Awesome tip's thank you
You bet!
