@@kimberlysturgis4822 I've never tried a soldering iron, but it might be a good option😉
I can control the flow direction of the solder while using a torch. I use this hand torch for small soldering jobs and a propane burner torch for heavier jobs.

A soldering iron doesn't get hot enough to solder silver. It's great for Tiffany soft soldering, but that's an entirely different technique. It's used primarily for stained glass.

What gauge silver are you using ?
