Though I would never silversmith, I am fascinated at the art. The whole process is mesmerizing and the product itself is therefore worth more than 100$. I can't believe people sell for 20 and 30$ sometimes. I'm happy I watched this video. And the ring is beautiful.
Thank you for making this beginner video. The ring is lovely. I've always wanted to make silver and turquoise jewelry. My husband has bought me a beautiful collection, over the years. I love it!! Now that I'm a grandparent, I figured it's now or never, so I subbed you! Looking forward to learning your techniques! 🤗
I have watched this over and over it is by far my favorite turquoise ring video, you do a fine job of teaching us how and what to do. Your voice is so calming that I don't get flustered when working on a project, thank you so very much!
I love your ring. It is so nice when other jewelry makers show all the steps. When I was in college, we were taught the exact same steps. Thank you, I enjoyed the lesson!
Excellent video! When I started looking for a silver smith in my area, I was having no luck. So I thought I'd look it up!! Glad I did. Your video makes me think I might actually be able to do it. Thanks!
I've only ever bought the finished product, so I'd never seen the process until I blundered across your video -- absolutely AWESOME!!! Beautiful! You make it look so easy, however I am sure it isn’t that easy. I love making jewelry but have not learned how to do soldering and this just makes me want to learn how to even more. Thanks for such a great video.
This is such a fantastic video! I really appreciate you linking all your tools as well. It’s been incredibly helpful for me as I start my metalsmithing journey :) I do have a question though. I was wondering what you used to cut the 6 GA wire for the ring band? I love those thicker ring bands as well and I definitely want to incorporate them into my pieces. I just bought a bunch of 6 GA copper wire to practice with, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to cut it 😅 thanks so much for your help!
omg! so beautiful! I can only DREAM that one day I will be skilled enough and able to produce something as breathtakingly amazing as that gorgeous ring you've just revealed on this video! BRAVO m'dear!! Keep up the fantastic work!! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your process! I am new to metalsmithing & your videos have been a lifesaver! I really appreciate how detailed and thorough you are. 😊
Thank you very much for made this video. It was very helpful and give me a lot of ideas and at the same time and told me step by step. What should I buy first? Thank you very much.🎉🎉🎉🎉
I am wondering how you cut your 6g wire. and how to measure so you can have the gap and the correct size ring. I just ordered a bunch of stuff to get started and am wanting to make sure I have the right things! it's hard to find info on making ring shanks so thank you for this.
I really enjoyed the tutoral and like the way you added your maker's mark. I always find if I add it to the bottom of the base plate, no matter how well I think I planned it out, it gets covered by the shank! Your ring turned out gorgeous. I would be very interested to know what brand of Engraver's block you used and where did you purchase it?
Thank you so much! I got my engravers black off of Etsy, I can't remember the name of the store😫. It is a knock off and I believed I only paid around $150 for it but it does the job! I would definitely check them out there!
Thank you for this tutorial. I was trying to find a method of cleaning up the silver using non toxic stuff. I’m not a fan of the pickeling solution. I know it’s faster but I don’t feel safe using it. Especially if I plan to do this often.

Thank you so much! And yes, what I like to do is first quench the piece in a bowl of water after each soldering operation or let it slowly cool down on it's own. Then I will throw it in the pickle pot! I usually leave my pieces in the pickle pot until they are a nice clean, white color all over :)
Wooow AMAZING LIKE ALWAYS 👏🏼😍 But I have 2 questions 😅 1- Why why do you use 6 wheels to polish the ring? What are the differences between one and the other? 2- Why antioxidant should be put on all silver before polishing? Thanks a lot in advance 🙏🏽💙I have so many questions to ask 😅
Thank you!!!😃 And each wheel is a different grit so I like to go through every grit in order (lowest number first) to obtain a high shine! And I like to add the oxidize the silver once I have all my marks in the silver and any excess solder removed. The blue wheel I found is best to remove the patina because it isn’t too coarse so it won’t take off too much!
You did great Leanne…. And your you tube has really grown. You probably don’t recognize my username on RUclips but this is AUMi Jewels…. Hi there! Your video is so so helpful for me as a beginner. One thing you didn’t mention that I’m still iffy about is - for the metal sheet, bezel, ring band and beaded wire bezel…are those half hard or dead soft?
I love love this video! I agree with everyone else - best beginner video out there! Quick question: when you are filing down the ends of the ring band so they're flat (around the 8:30 mark), what grit sandpaper are you using? Thank you so much! Subscribed!
I love your tutorials!! So thorough .. could you please tell me where you purchase your beaded wire and embellishments from? I’m just beginning and having a hard time finding supplies …
I bought my beaded wire from monsterslayer.com and I made the ball and star embellishments myself! I actually have another video explaining how to make them using the tucker tool shot plate!😃
Love this video! Do you use any polishing compounds or Tumblr? I've been metalsmithing for a year and am still confused on all the different ways to finish a piece!! lol Thanks in Advance!

I don't remember that they had this type of flux. I think mine was like a paste. This video was great. You do such beautiful work and make it look so easy. I remember melting bezels before. Lol
Awesome work !!! and the instructions very clear I just want to know when I use H,M,S solder because you used all of them and is it OK if I use one type only?
Wow, wonderful! thank you so much. Just starting out, have made several rings in classes. Trying to do this at home. Excellent explanations. What size blade do you use for the 22 g backplate, and the 6 g band?

This is my first time seeing one of your videos. The shots are so nice, and your voice and calming and easy to follow, thank you!! May I ask, how do you know when to use soft solder versus medium and hard?
Hi there! Thank you so much for all of your kind words! I actually answered this question a few times in this comment's section. A lot of people seemed to be curious about this. It's a pretty long winded answer but basically each solder has a different melting point (hard having the highest melting point and easy having the lowest). So rule of thumb is to start with hard then work your way down. I am going to try and make a video about the different types of solder and when to use them, so stay tuned!😊
Such a lovely video! I am starting out and your videos have been so so helpful! Where do you get your decorative wire from and what size do you recommend or what did you use for this ring? Thanks! 🤗

Love your video! I’m encouraged to get started and learn. What is the width of the 26ga bezel you’re using? Sorry if you covered this somewhere, but couldn’t find it myself.
Thanks!
It was 1/8 😃
Thank you so much! Spending this winter practicing❤
Second time watching this video because I love it so much. What Guage beaded wire are you using for this ring?
Thank you for a great tutorial. Do you have any suggestions for a place to order materials?
You’re welcome! And I swear by monsterslayer.com They are a great small business with awesome customer service and best prices!
@@SpiritMountainSilver Thank you so much!
Fascinating & beautiful!
Thank you so much!!
Hi there great video beautiful ring… I have a question where do you get your embellishments. I can make the balls I guess but others like yours?
Thanks again.
I have a full video that goes over how I make the embellishments, here is the link: ruclips.net/video/bd9kE_5mP7A/видео.html
I am a hobbiest stone cutter who is breaking into my own silversmithing. For the ring shank, I love the heft of the 6 gauge half round. Are you using half hard? Many thanks in advance and your videos have been very helpful!
I like to use soft and work harden it myself at the end. Easier to work with for me😊
Amazing work! Beautiful!
Thank you very much!
