    I'm glad SWTOR is on this list! It's hands-down my favorite MMO ever. They have done a few things I don't like, such as taking away the ability for companions to hate you and automatic quest completion for some quests misses some great dialogue. But it's hard to beat 8 unique and fully voiced stories. It's so good, I spent about 9 years playing the game and made my own fanfiction about my characters. lol

    • @amedaius8492
      @amedaius8492 Год назад +2

      It's kinda more than 8 though in a way. Its like 8 plus the shared route afterwards, plus the companion routes which some (all? IDK I never finished half of them) have more than one route.

    • @suicune2001
      @suicune2001 Год назад +2

      @@amedaius8492 True. The base game alone is eight unique stories. Then it all blends together after that. And then you have the different branches you can take: be a double agent, go back to working for the republic/empire or stay the Alliance commander, people you killed or didn't kill, etc.
      Really, I still think the best content is the main stories. It gets very tedious very quickly to record 8 or 9 stories and see the same dialogue over and over with maybe a couple different lines for your class. And since it's an MMO, we'll likely never get a satisfying conclusion or wrap up all these choices. I miss being called the Wrath / Hand of Jadus / Agent. Many of those stories went nowhere in the long term.

They honestly shot themselves in the foot. If they put a bit more effort into the game especially end-game and making the systems run smoothly, and the combat a bit more fluid they could be a contender along with wow and FFXIV.

Bungie removed A LOT of old content and vaulted it - something that has a lot of us veterans of the game pissed because it was content we played for. As a hard-core fan of One Piece and a lover of lore and games with many diverse and unique locations, Guild Wars 2 maps are gorgeous and so different from one another, no two maps give of a similar feel. From the npc inhabitants, hostile creatures, large structures, natural landmarks and multi-level exploration maps.
    Another thing about GW2 is that unlike other mmos which mainly have maps based on a single horizontal level, GW2 maps are structured to have multiple levels, giving the feel of the maps in GW2 have more depth and immersion.
    There are maps that have layers upon layers of height which requires using of gliding and using jet streams to reach high up, to deep multi-level underground and under-water maps with inter-connecting caves, there's just so much going on in every single map it's almost unbelievable.
    There's so many hidden secrets littered in every map it's a true gem for those who love to explore.
    To me personally this is the only mmorpg out there that feels alive, where different events are going on simultaneously at different parts of the map changing the course of what events are unlocked further down the path leading to an epic climax.
    For example, you could be all alone and attempting to reach a vista for map completion and out of no-where an event starts, which then leads to another all while being beautifully narrated by the npcs to tell the story of their lives, struggles, lore and hostile inhabitants of the map itself. All while exploring the map and all the while gaining more and more players to participate in these progressive chain events. By the time the event chain reaches it's final stage, which more than likely is a boss, you would be accompanied by an enormous number of players by now, you would be more familiar with the on-goings of the map itself while being hand-held across the map kind of like a tour-guide.
    I really hope other mmos implement multi-level map designs and progressive based small map event chains which lead to a large map meta event and a final boss the way GW2 does.

Typically pick something you want, like legendary armor, or a weapon, and just start the journey, most legendary stuff can be crafted now too. But if PvP is your thing there is the PvP arena, along with World vs world, which are large hundreds of players all fighting against one another. I also suggest getting into an active clan they can help you do things like dungeons to really get some of the best loot

Early leveling is you click a tree and and you wait 5 minutes for the tree to be chopped down than you click another tree. A big part of end game content is speedruns and achieving in game status IE high scores. Which again are ridden with bots, 20 out of the top 50 player that have killed end game boss are bots.

    0:29 - Guild Wars 2 is actually "Pay to Win". And Arena Net is NOT the same player-centric company it was when developing / releasing Guild Wars 2.
    1) When Heart of Thorns was released, ArenaNet took away ALL guild unlocks and put them behind the paywall of the first expansion. Basically, they STOLE...er...'removed' ALL of our progression (time invested in the game), and then made us pay a 2nd time to unlock the SAME GUILD CONTENT over again.
    2) Try being relevant in any competitive setting with the core only classes. After you fail repeatedly and get stomped by any of the elite specializations, which can ONLY be acquired by purchasing one or more of the 'expansions', you will realize that the elites do EVERYTHING better, require very little skill, and basically get boons for free and face-roll rotations compared to the original core classes. Textbook pay to win.
    3) Gliding, which requires the purchase of the first expansion, allowed safer and faster traversal across some zones that previously had to be done on foot. Have-nots often missed out on timed content because they could not take the same shortcuts gliding / flying players could. This disparity has been worsened by the addition of Mounts...
    4) Mounts, which can only be acquired via another expansion, get you EVERYWHERE, faster, and easier, allowing you to skip a lot of content, and in some cases even complete it before the 'have nots' with no mounts can arrive. They also represent a free 2nd (or for some elite specializations...3rd) health bar, and free stability to ignore enemy CCs.
    5) The benefits of gliding and mounts extended to PvP and WvW until community outrage sparked ArenaNet to make gliding and mounts available to ALL in PvP and WvW as PvP and WvW specific unlocks.
    So basically, to have access to ALL features, including some we paid for in the original release, AND to be on an even playing field with all other players, we had to spend 4x the money of the original game, and give up all Guild unlocks. And they only addressed the most aggregious offenses in the competitive scene when the community raged about it. Way to go, ArenaNet. 10/10 would be exploited for profit again.

    "MMO" is a prefix, not a root, or a genre.
    "MMO" =/=(does not equal) "RPG"
    "RPG" is not the only genre that has "MMO" features. See Planetside (MMOFPS)
    Destiny 2 doesn't have "MMO" elements. Destiny 2 has "RPG" elements. If Destiny had "MMO elements", we would have more than 3-6 people to a team. So, I suppose, Destiny is basically online co-op or simply "online multiplayer" basically removing "Massive"
    Warframe is not an MMO. Like Destiny. Social spaces do not count. Waframe is Diablo with guns, or a third person ARPG.
    I've player count = "MMO" Then any game would be MMO if that game had more than 100 players playing it. Doesn't matter if it's single player or not.
    Definition of "massive" for one. Which is usually hundreds if not thousands of players.
    MMO. Those 100+ players in a single space(no not server, THE MAP OR ZONE) working together for objectives.
    SWG has 20 players to a team. You could, in theory( RIP bandwidth and FPS) server cap of players in a single space. That is "MMO"
    Or the GW2 pvp gank trains.
    What is not an "MMO". A fireteam of 3-6 people in a single instance, forever alone, separated from everyone else.
    If that doesn't clarify for everyone, then you need to stop using the language. and just use "video game". Sick of this being watered down, and poorly classified.
    Yes, I know they clarified Destiny 2, but made a mistake when they said "MMO elements"
