I had beers with him in Minneapolis in 1982, just after bosom buddies and he was grateful to be paid to open the high school hockey state playoffs, worried he may never work again and he had just had Colin. We all knew he was destined to be the Tom Hanks!!! He was so special!

Ran into Tom in this tiny grocery store on the Upper West Side in the 80’s. He was filming “Bonfire of the Vanities”. I turned a corner and there he was. We locked eyes for a moment and went our separate ways. Celebs want their privacy too. But he’s my favorite guy in show biz, so I went up to him and said, “You always think of that moment when you meet your favorite celebrity and what you would say to them.” He cautiously goes, “Yeah?” “Well, I just want you to tell you I watched Bosom Buddies, when it was on.” His whole face brightened and he said, “That’s great. Thanks.” I said, “Have a good night.” And he enthusiastically said, “You too.” with that special intonation he has. Said my line and got out. He was way cool. Natch.

Always been a huge fan of Tom Hanks I even took a picture of me with his Chinese Theater cement hand print in LA. I never saw the show bossom buddies but I knew Tom Hanks from the movie🐠 💦SPLASH 💦🐠 which is one of my favorite movies!! Tom Hanks just sky rocketed in the movie buisness after Splash was a huge hit.

The strongest memory I have of Tom Hanks was watching Family Ties as a kid. I had no idea about acting but I always thought it was a funny show.) When Hanks came on playing "Uncle Ned" Elyse's brother you knew you were watching something specia The guy was an alcoholic, burned out executive and I remember how serious the show became when he was on.
