The funny thing is that in developing his hyperbolic character at the camp he probably matched the actual language (Crick vs Creek), cadence and etiquette (spitting) of the men more than any other reenactor or there and he knew it 😂 dude is a genius.
The standard procedure early in the war was to drop knapsacks and blankets in one spot before going into battle. The soldiers quickly learned this was a bad idea--they might end up a couple of miles away and without food or warmth! So they learned to keep everything with them in battle instead. In the Confederate army, quilts, coverlets, and rugs often were used as blankets--real blankets were often in short supply.
Actually back in those days they used muskets, thick blanckets could block some bullets. I once read about French citizens covering their windows with a huge blanket during the French Revolution so that they can be safer from the bullets.
I think some were genuinely offended. They take that reenactment stuff VERY seriously. Seemed to loosen up at the end. (Earring man even sized Conan up when called out for it. Ha!)
It’s amazed that he made himself, interviewees, audience and surrounding laugh and focus on his thought so Conan’s way that they won’t ever be offended but also entertained.

The funny thing is that in developing his hyperbolic character at the camp he probably matched the actual language (Crick vs Creek), cadence and etiquette (spitting) of the men more than any other reenactor or there and he knew it 😂 dude is a genius.
how kind. he puts hand cream on his dead comrade. lmfao!!!😂
Avinash Singh
A cream so pleasant, that it even made the dead man smile!
Meanwhile in the 1860's
NO HE IS DEA- wait, his hands aren't moisturized
He might be dead, but there's NO WAY you should die with dry hands.
Avinash Singh 😂
You could have be the reds
7:54 that guy couldn't stop smiling even when dead
Yea, I also watched the video...
+SwagSleek39 the FartUnicorn I know right!
He died happily with womans hands touching him
Conan is so funny, he can make even DEAD people laugh.
7:33 That’s a damn fine soldier bringing a blanket to battle
😂😂😂😂
I mean, everyone needs to have their own unicorn barbie blanket during a war zone.
It's to replace his knapsack
The standard procedure early in the war was to drop knapsacks and blankets in one spot before going into battle. The soldiers quickly learned this was a bad idea--they might end up a couple of miles away and without food or warmth! So they learned to keep everything with them in battle instead. In the Confederate army, quilts, coverlets, and rugs often were used as blankets--real blankets were often in short supply.
Actually back in those days they used muskets, thick blanckets could block some bullets. I once read about French citizens covering their windows with a huge blanket during the French Revolution so that they can be safer from the bullets.
I love the fact that Conan, once he gets into character, he literally makes a field day out of it, LOL 😆
im in love with the coco
lol
i got it for the low low
i got it for the low low
i got it for the low low
imposter
I really think these people are trying really hard not to laugh at him.
Come on that m16 joke was really funny.
I died when that happened. Imagine if the union actually made that during mid 1860s and all of a sudden, they start chasing the Rebs with those lol.
Maddy Arana While the rest of the world tries really hard not to laugh at them right? Hahaha
I think some were genuinely offended. They take that reenactment stuff VERY seriously. Seemed to loosen up at the end. (Earring man even sized Conan up when called out for it. Ha!)
I love when Conan pulls out the assault rifle and makes all those troops retreat
Mcs gaming ik i can't breathe in tht moment 😂😂😂
Mcs gaming It's an M-16
Charley Hibschweiler Not to be confused with a M-15, M-16, M-13, P-90, AK-47, etc.
TommyTom21 obviously, the majority of the guns there look nothing like the m-16.
@@kugelblitzkrieg Thanks for explaining the joke.
It’s amazed that he made himself, interviewees, audience and surrounding laugh and focus on his thought so Conan’s way that they won’t ever be offended but also entertained.
And you're dressed like a pirate who's about to go clubbing.
They decided Conan O'Brien talks too much...then executed poor Jedediah Longtree?
Poor chap didn't get to eat his Mama's peach pudding!!
Underrated comment lmfao 🤣
The ol Battle of Olive Garden. The breadstick opposition seemed limitless.
+licenseless rider
The unlimited salad ran dry that bloody day at the Battle of Olive Garden
That was the best line.
The breadstick opposition... You, my friend need to consider comedy writing as a job.
I was once at the battle of Olive Garden. I battled my way through endless fields of food. There were no survivors.
licenseless rider thankfully the rebels never captured the pasta.
I've probably watched this a hundred times, and I've only just noticed the bug crawling on the screen at 4:39. That's how much I laugh every time when he does that whole bit, so hilarious! 🤣🤣
"you guys believe in hydrating dont you?"
Alot of people say Conan is not funny, but he is the only person who makes me laugh until I cant breathe .
those who say conan is not funny, are dead inside. and i think the world would be better off if those people just died off
because watching too much of jay leno took away every ounce of humor out of their lives.
hellobringo now you get it. and people say the internet kids are stupid. i just show them hellobringo, and all is fixed.
***** maybe your secretly Daniel Tosh
i'm with you. sometimes i can't believe i'm still alive when i practically died laughing a few times now. maybe i'm not. WooOoOOoo
Conan looks like the type of civil war soldier who would be shot by an arrow in a musket volley fire.
I mean arrows are more accurate
He really knows his history. You can tell cause of the humor; he paradies both the actual Civil War and the re-enactors. Godamn Conan is funny.
He also randomly brings up the battle of Chicamunga
@@bobknee4127 Yeah, I had a friend, couldn't have cared less about history of any kind. Nothing. This guy was all about self-help. The "You can be your own best friend" kind of stuff. "Seven Ways to reach Nirvana." Then out of the blue, at middle age, he writes about some topic "just like Robert E. Lee felt after Fredericksburg." Not "Gettysburg," "Fredericksburg." And his analogy was spot on. Go figure.
Love how the kid standing next to conan was the only one laughing at him
Keiji3G on his left or right
Zachary Petty lol I guess both
Rip that boy
Once you watch Conan, You CANNOT watch any late show ever again ! I am ADDICTED, WHY CONAN, WHY ?
true
+Maya Labey Because he is awesome
The late late show with James corden
+Crystalism I see what you did there
+Crystalism I can't stand Corden, the guy is irritating as hell.
that entire segment was gold
I love how all the "soldiers" just go with everything Conan does
I read this at the exact moment he tried to lead them into a charge and they just shouted "What the hell are you doing?!?" at him 😆
7:55 Only Conan can make the dead smile! x)
Man: *collapses and dies
Conan: *feverishly rubs moisturizing hand cream on him
i can see why simpsons went downhill when Conan left the writing team along with a few other writers. He probably wrote the best bits.
Wait he was a writer on Simpsons? Wtf
Шизл манизл yes look it up
30 years of my life and never knew that .... Wow
Nah, as far as I remember he was listed as an author only once, and only a cowriter on other episodes. So he didn't really contribute that much
Conan's Elder sister was one of the producer of Simpson
That descent into Yosemite Sam when developing his character 😂😂😂😂
I love how he just keeps saying "No" when Conan talks about his hand lotion.
Mike is my grandpa his is very funny
"That's between you, and your...pendulum." 😂😂😂
that was hysterical
"The lotions in my tent, come by any time" i don't know how those guys weren't cracking up 😂 this is my favorite Conan skit
Katy m some were... it’s hard to take your eyes off Conan but I looked at the men a few times and they were laughing hard but forcing themselves to not really show it...
Just here in 2021 having a Conan marathon....sadly just discovered this gem of a person. So funny, not exhale through your nose funny but laugh out loud by yourself funny 😂
Died when he was trying to "develop his character"
dang he got kinda into his character didn't he.
I love how he slowly evolved into Yosimite Sam.
I’ve rewatched this dozens of times in the past 8 years, still laugh out loud! Best late night comedy man. He’s my generations Johnny Carson
"When you're alone in the woods for 4 years it's nice to have a pair of women's hands handy."
Can't argue with that.
