It's crazy to think in 2 years Chris Jericho, a lower midcarder guy, will win the WCW title in a WWE ppv, people would look at you like you're crazy if you told them that.
Genius of McMahon. He recognized talent. Same could be said of Steve Austin. And even more so with what he did with Nash, Calloway, Hall, etc. WCW didn't know talent.
We’ve reached that unfortunate point in WCW history where they were swimming further into the deep end before desperately gasping for air (2000) and eventually dying (2001) 😢
Dude, the way these videos are written and presented is so damn good. WWE should be knocking down Wrestling Bios door to produce specials for the network..
I mean, if that meant that I could only watch Wrestling Bios on the WWE Network and that there would be no issues with copyright use of the images...yeah, I'd finally cave in and get a WWE Network Subscription
This particular episode means a whole lot to me. My Nana took me to this Raw event for my 11th birthday. This is when I realize that Monday Night Raw was pre recorded. I remember getting to the arena. My Nana and I saw three shows that night Shotgun Saturday Night, Sunday Night Heat and Monday Night Raw. It was eye-opening and kind of weird to see but I still enjoyed myself. I also remember telling my buddies in school that Kane and X-Pac will win the tag team titles by the following week and no one believed me until it happened lol. Ahhh good times!
I was there for Jericho's last WCW match in Peoria, Illinois. It's actually the reason I love Eddie Guerrero. It was Guerrero/Jericho vs Rey/Kidman. And they went HAM and still did fun stuff.
WCW didn't know talent if it bit them in the ass. Think of how many legends they either let slip away, or completely fumbled in terms of booking. Austin. Jericho. Eddie Guerrero. Bret. Pillman. Booker T. The Steiners. And that Benoit guy... he was a great wrestler.
@@TheSBleeder I wouldn't say they 'fumbled' on The Steiners nor Booker T. Not 'really'. Especially with The STEINERS!! The others u mentioned? For the most part-- 'yes'. Overall.....
Bro be COOKING with these Reliving the War intros! Hard to believe we are almost a quarter through 1999 and we are close to losing a legend in Owen Hart. Great upload as always!
Also notice that they moved the Nitro commentators to ringside whereas in the old set they were up by the entrance. It made me think at the time that WCW was trying in someway to copy the WWF, but maybe they didn't have room for the commentators at the entrance with the new set. I remember the four way match. Also seeing the end of this Raw too.
Reliving the War is wild. We are finally at a point where I actually started watching wrestling as a kid. I am a WCW fan from early 99... can you believe it?!
@WesleyWilkins-qf2ky I played the WCW/NWO Revenge game in 98 and was hooked so I knew the characters from that, and watching WWF when I was like 5, so once my mom and family started watching on TV we were hooked on WCW. We had no idea WWF had completely rekt them in the ratings. Of course, watching all the podcasts and interviews with all the 90s guys and watching this does show how different the demise of WCW was from how it was presented on the Monday Night Wars stuff WWE released lol.
Same here man! I actually started watching wrestling in 2000 with some weird pole match between Booker T and Jeff Jarrett and Goldberg feuding with Vince Russo. Loved it haha.
I know I’ve written this comment before, but it can’t be overstated… thank you for making this series. The world is generally a crappy place, and things that make life better are rare. This is one of them though. Every week you bring some joy to a bunch of people. Thanks for doing it and making life just a little more tolerable. 👍🏻
I always liked X-Pac and Kane as a tag team. They had good chemistry together, and even the 12 year old mark in me was upset down the road when Pac would turn on Kane.😂
This was my 1st raw live and in person , I guess that’s why I always thought the titantron destruction was such an iconic moment. Also a guy was walking around the outside of the event after it ended claiming he took a picture at just the right moment when ivory ripped Terri’s shirt off to get a nip slip .
Perfect timing I’m bored and lonely and this gives me a little bit of an escape from my doom and gloom life.. p.s hope everyone has a brilliant Christmas with your family’s and you too wrestling bios ❤️❤️
It's interesting to look back at this and see the first signs of the Union, as well as the Corperate Ministry. Even so, it's still surprising how well they kept the "Higher Power" thing pretty locked down until the reveal
Been watching since episode 1 and just realized that with this episode, it's been 3.2 years of reliving the war. Found this channel during the pandemic and been watching all content since. Fine job you do here sir, fine job indeed!
I remember this night verry well. I was on spring brake. I was watching both Raw and Nitro. Ric Flair was slowly turning into a lunatic as president, the Undertaker was doing the cult deal, and Rock and Austin were killing it. Love what you do. Fantastic stuff as always. Keep rockin'!
Another excellent episode! That Nitro set was shocking, not to mention the updated WCW logo! Looking forwards to the Santa with Muscles review. That’s one film we missed off our Hogan segment in our Wrestlers turned actors video, although we probably wouldn’t have done it justice anyway. Really enjoyed tonight’s episode of RTW!
The absolute irony of Hogan needing to kick out of an uber-protected finisher because someone was late with their run-in is so amazing, since the same thing happened to him at WrestleMania VIII a few years back. Also, WEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL... RIP Monday Night Jericho. Long Live Raw is Jericho!!!!!
The then, new logo really did signify the sharp downfall the company would be going through for the next two years before being acquired by the Mcmahons.
So happy every time wrestling bios comes up as a new upload. Not only getting close to losing Owen but we only have a lil over a year left of the best part of a lot of our Thursday
I do like rewatching the ministry vs Mr McMahon thing knowing Vince is the Higher Power and trying to see if I can make it make sense this time around.
I’ve spent the last few months watching these and honestly, time well spent. You do such an excellent job of recapping the events of these shows with the perfect amount of storytelling and humor. You make it so relatable to old school fans that each single episode of RTW isn’t as predictable as the actual product of the time in WWE/WCW. I was on Team WCW until August of 1999 and looking back, I wonder why I was so invested after 1998.
Was in the middle of watching Stone Cold vs Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1996 then I seen the notification for RTW. So I paused Austin vs Bret to watch RTW.
When the Rock imitated the Big Show before hitting the people’s elbow 😂😂. During his promo you can see the crowd really start getting behind him. Damn it’s gonna hit home when next month happens losing one of the great legends in the King of Harts
Okay I'm just gonna say it...I like the new WCW logo! I just think it looks cool. I also thought Nitro was the better of the two shows this time. Raw's definitely got the better story, but Nitro's got some interesting stories developing too, and as mentioned the in-ring action was leagues better than most of Raw. Hopefully they go somewhere. But great episode of RTW like always. Can't wait for Santa With Muscles either!
It's cool to see 3/4ths of the Mania 2000 main event in a match this week. You can really see how far they came almost a year to the day after this. This was peak Big Show in my opinion. He looked ginormous.

Indeed. Sad. Gone too soon
Yup not looking forward to that episode
Yep 😢
I was thinking the same thing that was the saddest episode of the attitude ever
Not looking forward to that episode either. That night still haunts me to this day just hearing about Owen.
Always found it funny that one of the first things you see in the new-logo WCW is Goldberg rocking a pullover with the old logo on it.
Stone Cold and Big Show ripping the titantron is definitely a classic Raw moment 😂
Meng is a big dude. And Steiner just held him in that back breaker position like no big deal
That new set/logo was one step closer to them dying

That Rock sequence before the match is hilarious. IN two weeks, he'll be 100% heel promoing Stone Cold and the crowd will be eating it up.
He and Austin were never presented as buddies until much, much later.
The “Mr. McMahon” promos never fail to pop me good! I made Hulkamania, pal!
This guy's over here popping for Vince like hes a paralegal.

Quality story, mate. You walked to school with a smile on your face after those belts dropped!

The Rock carrying around Austin's stolen belt like he did with the IC belt
Love Goldberg coming out with a shirt with the old WCW logo. Shambles.

Luckily in 2001 they started reairing all the Nitro episodes from 96 to 98 so I was able to catch up on the nWo time.
Then I was able to follow a little bit about the Invasion via a wrestling magazine and I absolutely hated WWF.
