It’s crazy to look back at just how far WCW fell in 1999. A year ago Kevin had just won the belt, the Wolfpack were still a thing, and everyone was looking forward to the inevitable rematch with Goldberg that certainly would happen…… It’s arguably the inverse of the year the wwf had in 1998 where they started the year with the Screwjob and ended with the most successful period the company ever had.
To be fair Goldberg did have his rematch with Kevin. It just happens on a B-list PPV (albeit WCW’s last good one) on the midcard with about two weeks of buildup and after WCW completely gave up on the plan.
It's Thursday night and you know what that means! Reliving The War is here for the end of the 90s, the 20th century and the millennium. Remarkable how far we have come.
The segment covering David Flair's match with Meng from a while ago still makes me laugh, I think he had one with El Dandy that was pretty funny too. Thank You Wrestling Bios for bringing so much joy to my world and the worlds of every other viewer. 😄👍

I completely memory-holed Goldberg smashing his arm happening on Thunder - I really thought it happened on this episode of Nitro, but on THUNDER? The show NOBODY cared about? That’s a BLUNDER point right there for shooting such a big angle on the show nobody cared about.
It's sad seeing Elizabeth in WCW in this time period knowing what's going on behind the scenes with her and Lex. And what the end result is going to be of their relationship. He's the one who started her on the path to becoming a drug addict.
It’s nice to finally watch Foley’s journey to RR 2000 unfold. You always hear about Cactus Jack’s return on Smackdown but seeing the building blocks towards the moment is so cool
Used to watch WWE for sports entertainment at its peak during this time and u couldn't miss an episode. Then switch over to WCW to laugh. It was like 7 pm comedy hour before wwf came on
I mean they debuted in the company as the Flying Nuns on Shotgun Saturday Night. wearing woman's clothing was always their thing. They wore skirts and were proud to do so.
Once the 2000s hit, that’s when WWF starts dominating crazy style. Rock brings back Mick & becomes Top babyface, Triple H evolution to full blown heel begins as WWF champ, Stone Cold & Undertaker Returns with Kurt & Jericho climbing the ranks as well. Too much heat for WCW respectfully
With 1999 in the books with Reliving the War we are now in the final full year of WCW. In total we have 15 months to cover for Reliving the War since WCW folds in March 2001. I’m definitely trying not to think about the finale of this series because it’s still so far off but I guess if I ever miss it I can always go back to the beginning and Relive the War all over again.

Last Reliving the War of 1999, wow. If I had to describe wrestling in 99 with one word it would be...Russo. This year, across both WCW and WWF Vince Russo left his mark, for better or worse, on the entire industry and I don't think a person had had that big an impact across multiple companies within the span of a year since Hulk Hogan in 93-94, that is the level of influence Russo and his Crash TV style had on the industry. Man had the pen for both WrestleMania and Starrcade in a single year, that is insane! Hell the spark for the McMahon-Helmsley Regime (and weirdly the irl marriage of HHH and Stephanie) started with a storyline he wrote initially with Big Andy and Stephanie! We'll see how things ultimately shake out for WCW with Russo (not good) and the Federation without (much better).
