You can also use Iron cage wall or dvergr metal wall instead of marble around your refinery. They also take 0 damage from eitr.
Progressing fishing to get the angler fish bait is relatively easy by the time you've reached Mistlands, and it's extra worthwhile because it also catches puffer fish.
Puffer fish on horizontal item stands strategically placed around your sap extractor roots one shot hares. Free hare meat and scale hide is a nice bonus every time you go collect sap.
I made a black marble 'mausoleum' for my refinery, too, but then I discovered that iron cage and copper dvergr walls resist the eitr radiation too. Looks a bit nicer now.
Another tip I saw but haven't tried yet for the tower wards is to bring a cart, and just hit the ward with the cart repeatedly until it breaks, that way you can ensure you don't break anything else!
Can I use that to destroy those crates with extractors inside also?
@@arbitersincantations6519 it could be a little hard to get the cart upstairs, but if you can, sure hahah
@@arbitersincantations6519 After the ward is destroyed they dont attack you for destroying the crate as long as you don't hit them. "The bee side" just posted a video on it a few hours ago
@@melma2753 after you break the ward, sure!
I’ve tried it and it works, but it takes a very very long time.
Currently easiest way to fishing in mistlands is to build 10-20 rafts at the shore and collect the fishes jumped out of the water.
Much faster than real fishing.
This happens to you too? Ive caugth most of the fish in the game just by parking my stupid boat - i dont have a rod yet :)
I caught a 3 quality puffer fish by just leaving my boat and exploring mistlands lol.
@@melma2753 Actually this idea is not even mine - i was trying to build something to catch the jumping fishes along the water, and then I saw one guy with the same idea, but he also had one raft on the water. So I said f@.k this, and built a fleet of rafts. Comparing to the fishing rod it works much more effective. And you don't need a lot of resources for the raft...
That ward tip was well worth a comment. Thanks for that mate
Love you too homie
I'm not sure it is on all maps but on the side of the steps leading up into the queen chamber is a single wooden wall, break it there is a hidden chamber under the steps, .mine had barrels of mead, and tables and lamps etc, it was the perfect spot for a portal and extra food beds etc for the boss fight.
The chicken Troll caves is a great idea.
You can use the Refined Eitr to break the Dvergr Components Box and the crates containing the Soft tissue to make even more Refined Eitr.
and that box doesn't have a lot of HP, so drop 2-3 refined Eitr and the box is done in a few seconds.
just keep some eggs as back up to restart production and chickens are pretty safe if you place them in a small house. the real problem is how to protect wolves and boars and lox, maybe make a safe stone house and place them there as back up?
To protect wolves and pigs put them in roofed pens with thick raised-earth walls high enough and thick enough that blobs cant poison the occupants from outside, and a second raised earth wall around the collection of pens far enough away that a troll and poison-breathing shamans cant hit them from outside.
Dungeons aren't really "instances" like in other games. Implying this might mislead people. They're just up in the top of the zone. Effectively, mobs inside are "safe" through pure vertical distance, but they aren't in a different place in reality. chickens could potentially fall out of the dungeon and would end up outside of the "instance" for example. Still an excellent strategy however.
You can also place the Eitr refinery inside an iron cage room and the iron cage won't take damage, you can even make a little iron box with the cage around where the Eitr drops out to keep yourself safe to go inside the cage and retrieve the items
Thanks for the info!
Am I the only one who doesn't get raid damage when my pets are out of sight in a roofed enclosure within my perimeter walls? I have found this with all pets - Boars, Wolves, Lox and Chickens. I never keep them out in the open. Instead, I make a small stone enclosure within my walls and then - and this is the key part - I roof it so that the animals are completely out of sight of any monsters passing my base - even flying monsters like Squitoes or Drakes. or tall monsters like Trolls who can usually see over walls. When I do this, I find that night spawn or raid monsters will congregate just outside the perimeter wall, as close as they can get to the tamed animals. But because they can't see the tamed animals, they don't attack anything. They just stand there with the yellow dot over their heads in an Aware state but not aggro. I then snipe them from distance with my bow. Because the monsters are closer to the pets than to me, their focus remains on the pets - even when I'm damaging them from a distance. It puts the game into Easy Mode imo.
I've even killed Yagluth this way. I tame one Lox near his spawn platform, put the Lox in a simple wooden structure that is fully roofed, then spawn Yaggie. While he spawns, I immediately run away, such that the Lox in its pen is between me and Yaggie. He advances to the Lox pen, the invisible Lox gets his attention, he stands doing nothing in an Aware state but not attacking, and I then kill him with Frost Arrows. It takes about 250 Frost Arrows and it wears a lvl 4 Draugr Fang out completely so I also take my Huntsman Bow as back-up. But it's a zero-risk, zero-damage way to deal with him. As long as you just stay at distance and fire arrows at him, his focus stays on the Lox. But because he can't see it, he never attacks it or the wooden structure that is shielding it from his line of sight.
The devs also seem to have changed something with ranged attacks. It used to be that if you attacked some tall, big enemy like Trolls or the Elder from a far range, you'd get in 1-3 free hits before the monster figured out where the damage was coming from and would lumber towards you. Now it seems that, beyond a certain range, they can no longer figure out where the damage is coming from. I killed the Elder this way recently. I spawned him then ran a long distance away. I had to aim way above his head to hit him, due to the distance. But he never reacted and I killed him without him even moving from his spawn spot. Then I was running towards my base and saw a Troll on the far side of the base. I stopped and fired arrows at it, again having to aim way above its head due to the arrow trajectory. After a couple of hits, the Troll started throwing rocks at my base. But it never figured out where I was and never approached me. I suppose its AI told it that it was being damaged and that it should attack whatever was attackable within its awareness radius. And my base was the only attackable thing within that radius. I was beyond the radius so it never became aware of me. It died without knowing what had killed it.
TL;DR: put your pets in a fully enclosed house with a roof and zero openings. Raiders won’t ID them and won’t attack them.
Good stuff. Thanks for the insight!
This eitr tip for destroying the wards is badass!
so you could use refined eitr to get the dverger crates open for the soft tissue...
nice work
👍 great tips thanks!!!
*things that will be patched out since bringing it to their attention*
From the time I switched to the Root Harnesk and the Atgeir, Squitoes are literally no worse than Greylings for me. A Squito attack does 6 damage when I'm wearing the Root Harnesk. It also completely nerfs Spear Fulings, who used to be one of the most dangerous enemies in the game. I can't understand why anybody would stop what they're doing to face and kill a Squito, drawing their shield and turning round and round and round as the Squito circles them before attacking again. I run through Plains with my Atgeir equipped. When I hear a Squito nearby, I don't even stop, I keep running. When the Squito sound rises in volume and I know it's coming in for an attack, I just do the Atgeir special sweep attack. Boom, Squito down. It doesn't matter which direction it's coming from, and I often don't even see the Squito I just killed. The sweep attack will kill it whichever direction it comes from. And I barely break stride to do it. I usually don't even stop to pick up the Needle as I have far, far more of them than I'll ever need. So dealing with a Squito while I'm running through Plains entails just the briefest of pauses and absolutely zero risk of death.
I would have to try really, really hard to get killed by a Squito. Sometimes when I'm planting Flax or Barley and a Squito buzzes over the farm walls and attacks, I just ignore it and keep planting. If I draw the Atgeir and swat it, the attack will also destroy the crops I just planted. So I just let it attack me. I regen more Health per tick from food than the damage that the Squito does. So why would I even bother with it?
The best part is, you do not even have to wear the full Root Set, just the Harnesk, as you described. I also used a combination of Root Harnesk and Plains Armor for my first explorations of the Mistlands. It helps a lot against a certain enemy attack. Only when a certain bigger enemy approaches, I switch to a less flameable chest-armor.
So mistlands basically added Uranium to valheim, got it.
the Eitr dmg works for the boxes with extractor in them. the dmg is not done by you, so the NPC will not care. and you can pick up the extractor, since all they care is the box being damaged.
You don't have to build a barrier around the fire. If the cave has a chest, just build the fire on top of the chest
The only reason I did the fish progression was to get the pufferfish! When you get that you can use them to take out entire dverger camps in the mistland without them attacking you
All the pufferfish i have collected have beached themselves on the side of the cliff and i just walk over and pick them up. in fact i even saw a Dvergr rogue poisoned to death by walking into one that was blocking his path. 😆
@@lancepage1914 I have fish farm with tons of rafts on the water placed the way you can jump from one to another, it is much easier than search applicable place on the ground.
you are forgetting that pufferfish can be used as traps on the itemstands
the puffer fish are poisonous and can be used in farm traps to kill stuff. so that is an interesting fish to use.
I placed my chickens under the elder boss arena lol. I forgot i had a base setup there for bronze production so i repurposed it.
Cool trick from the Bee (check it out), hit the ward once to lower its health, and smash it with a cart you build outside of the zone. Destroying a ward that way doesnt damage anything else (unlike refined eithr) and doesnt startle the dvergers.
For your next tips video, there's another way to deal with the damage from the Eiter Refinery .... burry it under The Elder's summoning platform (can't be damaged), and add a portal. Add soil between refinery and portal so the portal isn't damaged.
But that is where my base is.
I always just Roll from mosquitos when they sting works 9 outta 10. Sometimes there are 2 and I ran out of stammy because I am heavy on shift. Bro I just Put refinery against wall and Iron or copper Gate way easy. I mean you should have a stock of iron by then. Looks better also. Now that Sentry hack that's noice you got me there.
I never bother with fishing at all, and i got plenty of fish to cook all the time, u can find fish on the coast all the time, just pick them up, at times they just jump into your boat, easy prey.
You can make a pond and catch the other fish and they give you bonus resources
Some fish do provide flat raw fish increases, for example tuna
Yeah the only people that struggle with fishing are Those that Don't build fish farms. You can actually catch fish a lot easier than waiting on a farm to finish growing. And the time you're waiting on the eggs and the chicken. You can have 10x the amount of fish from a farm.
Ever since I discovered that you can damage ward using this method I'm trying to move some rogues onto my longship using the fence and push method (same method that we use while moving boars). Unfortunately those mofos are way too jumpy and I wasn't able to capture a single one of them. My idea is to ship them to my main base and mount them in a tower or something and use them as a base defence mechanism.
Bro don't sleep on the pufferfish you can put them on wall mounts and use them in spawners with just a handful of them it's actually kind of Op
They DMG when they are on the ground or item frame?
If they haven't changed it it should work for both of course the dropped pufferfish works just like any other item with despawning though I've noticed if not given the right space it almost seems like the game only allows one to do damage at a time so I just dug a pit placing them in a staggered pattern along the wall using the natural ground as the floor for the pit
A bit detailed guide on the eitr cage would be appreciated. I make it but eitr still leaps out and hits stuff around.
The Dverger metal wall stops the sparks, too, with the benefit of being transparent.
If it is too close to the outside of the walls it will slip out. That is why you see me add an extra layer on the top.
the 20 to fishing skill hat u need all fish to craft it
Destroy the bottom stair at the entrance and then shove them out, otherwise they run in every time you open the door. Also beware during raids because they can still turn on you even without their ward.
They have updated it so more advanced fish give more fish meat now
5:55 why did you leave that back corner exposed? Seems like you wasted a bunch of time switching to the 1x1 blocks and it could have been faster to just continue with the 2x2's from that gap forward.
My chickens in a troll cave eat up all the food but never lay eggs, could work if you just want more chickens but not if you just want an egg farm in there.
Mine do lay eggs, even when I'm only nearby and not actually in the cave.
When I first tamed boars, I let them into a larger pen, but it was TOO large. I reduced their wandering area and then they started getting frisky with each other and soon enough I had bacon bits running around. Made the pen a little larger after that, get a few more born. Try reducing the area inside the cave until you have enough chickens to warrant the space.
I've heard u can also destroy the wards by using a cart. Haven't tested it yet though.
You can, but it takes forever.
Each cart hit does 0.2 to 1.5 damage unless you can get serious speed/distance. A fully repaired ward has 1,000 health and a cart has 500 health, so you may have to rebuild the cart once or twice since you can’t repair it in the ward’s protection zone.
Why jump over deathskitos instead of dodge roll?
I feel Armor in Valheim is a little weird too with it's build costs, example, rags/bronze/root/iron are annoying to farm up materials to max out
but Leather/Silver/Padded are much easier, especially since Padded is just spamming flax turned into linen thread with minimal iron cost compared to iron armor
You're right. Armor progression is a little wonky compared to other games. I have never before seen a game in which padded armor was superior to iron armor. Also, the plains biome is still missing an alternative second type of armor. It currently only has heavy armor (the padded one), but every biome before and after has two different kinds of armor. Usually one light with a special effect and one heavy armor. Plains are still missing their light armor variant. Also, many black metal weapons are still missing, as well. But that's early access for you, I guess...
Built this just as shown, then doubled the thickness of the walls and the particles were still shooting out and damaging everything.
There is so little to do by Mistlands that making Dverger towers easier to take is not on my list of needs o7
I mean it's fun to have a base with dvergrs hanging around as friendly npc's, adds some life to your base. Sadly the mistlands nerf completely wrecked the biome and sucked all the fun out of it, so yeah you don't need them for defence anymore.
But nevertheless, still nice to have them. You can go to another tower further away from your base and clear it just for the heck of it and to challenge yourself.
@@dekippiesip I had not thought of that. I already enjoy using the Dvergers as extra help but hadn't thought of them as "house guests" (if cleared as mentioned).
Sadly I only hit this area after the nerfs, so went from "omg" to almost easy mode pretty quick. Still lovely update, brought me back after a year break.
Push em off and lock the door - lol _ Funny.
Also, roll .
can use a wagon to kill a ward, prob easier
its so very painfully slow....
My Hens won't replicate in troll caves. :)
I think a player need to be in the area (64m if i not mistaken) for a tamed animal to breed.
@@tonytonyet 2hours in with them and nothing. But I have another building for them at my home 🙂
Yeah the troll cave is a horrible idea since it's an instance.
Mine do so it's not the cave that's the problem.
When I first tamed boars, I let them into a larger pen, but it was TOO large. I reduced their wandering area and then they started getting frisky with each other and soon enough I had bacon bits running around. Made the pen a little larger after that, get a few more born. Doh! Too* easy
What item is in your number 7 slot?
mana potion for magic
Eitr potion
"Too Easy"
metal bars also take no dmg !
Iron bars you mean, correct? Iron bars take no damage or do you mean another type of metal bar?
@@mikehawk5722 Late answer, but yes he meant Iron.
Too easy. Your title sounds like a destination. This road leads to Easy!
why would anyone play this game with cheats?
Finally some fishing.. I mean it was pretty much don't fish, but I can't say there was a lack of any fishing in this video. All that aside the tips were OK - but we need more parts and more tips, and more fishing.
I say double down on the TO EASY. EASY being the destination location of Dverger Towers.
People really out here that just don't understand how easy getting to Angler Fish is.. I'd actually expect more from FireSpark. I mean if you think literally 1 hour of work is not worth the time to get to Angler Fish then I think you guys might be playing the wrong game. Also IF you are lucky and get a Herring from the swamp on the shore you can skip right to grouper and then go to Angler Fish.. absolutely hilarious how people think this is such an inconvenience. I guess keep missing out on the best stam food in the game. Good on you.
Fish n Bread isn't worth it to me. It takes 10 Barley and an Angler Fish to make one. So to make a 30-day supply, I need to farm 150 tiles of Barley (not including replanting stock) and catch 30 Angler Fish. The fishing alone takes about three full days in game. Then I need to process 300 Barley, which is six full loads through the Windmill. Then I need to make the Bread Dough and the Uncooked Fish n Bread, which are each 30 clicks at the Cauldron. Then I need to cook it, which is 8 loads through the Stone Oven, with each load taking about one game hour. And then if I catch a higher-level Angler Fish, I still only get one Fish n Bread from it. And then I need to source Lox Trophies periodically to make more bait for the Angler Fish.
Compare that to Salad. Each Salad requires one Onion, one Jotun Puff and one Cloudberry. So 30 days supply is 30 tiles of farming Onions (again not including replanting stock) and 10 tiles of Jotun Puffs. To collect 30 Cloudberries, I can portal to anywhere in Plains, run in any direction and have my 30 Cloudberries in under five minutes. Once I have the ingredients, there is no further processing or cooking. It is literally 10 clicks at the Cauldron and I'm done, as you make 3 Salad with each click. It is 5-10x as much work to make Fish n Bread. For the small increases it gives over Salad, I'm not seeing much value in it.
As for fishing in general, I'm also not seeing the value in it. The devs put in all the work to design and provide new fish types - for a primary food type (Fish Wraps) that is now obsolete. Sure, FIsh Wraps aren't bad and they're quite easy and quick to make. But they're no easier or quicker than the Mistlands Health dishes like Honey Glazed Chicken or Misthare Supreme, and those dishes give better stats. So why would anybody want to fish anymore? I still fish in Plains but the moment I get into Mistlands, the fishing gear gets put away in a chest and never used again.
@@porous9 it would take me maybe.. 2 in game days to catch 30 fish..heck I usually catch 20 a day. And Barley yea.. I have my 3 mills running 24/7 so not an issue.
Like I said some people can't be asked.. and I guess that's cool. By no means do I think fishing is fun or perfect but to me it is extremely easy and I feel much better having those extra few minutes of stamina. So in my opinion for me.. totally worth it.
@@darthartagnan4737 With how trivial the omelette is to get mats for in bulk, the angler wouldn't be worth catching for me if it took a quarter of the time it does now. There's just no point.
It's less hoops lol I'd expect you could count better then this but I guess not
