about the part that starts around 4:30 : as talented as JD is, the thing I'm most jealous of the most is that he could find a musical partner that gets him on that level as DOMi. Musically they were made for each other, and you can hear they inspire each other: when he gets in the zone, she starts her wild solo. And you can see that in other videos of them too: when one of them gets off, the other soon follows.
    Musicianship at its highest level.

He has a very rigid DIY/indie approach, which I respect and appreciate as an old post-punk, but all his self-released bedroom laptop recorded albums sound unfinished and crappy sonically. I am longing for a MonoNeon album recorded in a real studio, properly engineered and mastered, with a full band, with more developed arrangements etc. More like this.

The musicianship is obviously off the charts, but there's also Domi's goofy sound FX, the looks of awe and delight from the audience, the camera person wisely cutting to Mono numerous times, the bass-playing boy (whose name i forget) who is clearly loving and soaking up the incredible music he's hearing, and JD making sure to brush his hair right after he's done playing 😀.

yo. this music is great no doubt. but what i think is brilliant is how that little 6" splash on the snare drum responds to the intensity of his stroke, so that accented hits have a longer ringing sustain (which is quickly choked when the splash falls back on the snare) and the ghostnotes remain choked by the weight of the splash. but that ring is also partly the sustain of the splash for the moment that it's in the air. WOW!
    That’s some stuff right there.
It was so good. I’m just still processing it 3 minutes later.
That is some otherworldly playing. I’m honestly thinking really.
What a phenomenal group of musicians.

@Sacred R TBH watching all the zildjian live! performances you can tell JD still a AM on this, and maybe that's what makes him great, the fact that is going through a music career young musicians don't trend to take nowaday era if that make sense, which I love. Hope my answer pleases you and pardon my english :D

I think what he does that nobody does right now is going full jazzy D&B, like exclusibly just that, and that's what gives him a real signature sound, the only one that i can think that pairs JD is Louis Cole, who has a more groovy style of D&B, you can notice how JD has more of a messy style while Louis is more focused, but JD is younger so he has that advantage, still very unique styles, i definetely see how other musicians look at JD with hope.
