okay edit after 1 month! BoJack is in the wrong in this situation. Because he knows that there is something happening, even though Todd and the girl are not going out. Todd has or might have some feelings towards her, and we know that the girl DOES have feelings towards Todd. So had BoJack been a good friend he would have stayed away from that relationship and plus, would have gone and talked with Todd. Just because he didn't do anything wrong "by the book" doesn't mean he isn't selfish. Not that being selfish is wrong, but in this case his selfishness hurt his best friend.

Todd was getting pretty close with Emily, which made it possible that he would eventually move out of Bojacks house and in with her. (This was before they revealed he's asexaul). Bojack didn't want that because he likes having Todd around to "feel good" about himself. Todd makes him feel superior and better about his toxic life by looking down on him. Whenever there is chance Todd might have some success in life Bojack has to sabotage it, like he did to his Rock Opera, because Todd having success means he might leave and Bojack can't feel superior about himself anymore. The relationship with Emily had become a threat to Bojacks dominance over Todd. So when the opportunity presented itself, Bojack jump on the chance to try to wreck that relationship that was helping Todd grow and pervent him from leaving. Ironically, it instead become why Todd finally cuts ties with him and is now better off for doing so.
Yeah mainly because when Todd was gone in season 5 bojack is lonely this is a MAJOR trait of narcissism since Bojack also says stuff like " I thought I could always be with princess Carolyn" as if she's just an object and supposed to be there for him and he doesn't have to be there for her and also with Sarah Lynn telling her to not stop dancing so yes he is a ruiner and stays because he often says things to be so casually that he can NEVER take back however Bojack also is funny because we laugh at how messed up he is and he does have his kind moments mainly with hollyhock which was soon disconnected
I am a bit shocked by the people in the comments saying that Emily got of too easy, when, if I remember correctly, Emily doesn't appear in the show after talking things out with Todd. She lost a group of friends that Bojack, who ultimately did a lot more awful things then Emily (doing one by sleeping with Bojack), got to somewhat keep around.

She told Todd the truth, she responsibly apologized, she said she understood if Todd never wanted to see her again and she told Todd that she thinks Bojack is a bad friend which is 100% true. Bojack did none of these things at all. he violated and took advantage of Todd’s trust and didn’t respect him enough to tell him the truth, that’s the difference.

I was too. For a long time. I’m not going to sit here and say that i’m a wonderful person now because that’s not the case, but i put forth the effort to change. It is a very hard process and it takes a lot of effort to make a change in your mindset. I may not be a great human being, but at least i’m a good one now. To this day, i’m still working on changes. You just have to take responsibility for your actions, catch yourself in the act and try to retrain yourself to respond differently to situations. It’s a long process, but once you start to see the results it makes it absolutely worth it.

This is not an excuse for Bojack, but also Todd and Emily share part of the blame. Emily was frustrated with Todd despite trying to understand him, and she accepted Bojack the whisky and more. And Todd for pushing away Emily and not being honest with her with either he is asexual or he didn't feel ready yet for a more serious relationship.
Honestly they should have just explained themselves. Todd rejected her sexually, he and Emily were not likely going anywhere because Emily herself said "i'm tired of trying to figure out what Todd wants" I mean what did they have to lose? todd had not told he was asexual to emily yet at this point and some asexual people still want to get into loving relationships y' know, just without the sex part and todd thought he could get a loving relationship with emily maybe todd thought sex wasn't an important part of a relationship to emily and that she wouldn't mind him not feeling comfortable in doing it, but emily did not communicate that this wasn't the case to todd until later on. I don't think Todd is mainly upset with Bojack sleeping with Emily. It's probably all the times Bojack had been shitty to him finally bursting out. It's similar to how I break off with an ex friend because he ordered a slightly expensive meal I said I'd pay. I didn't really care about the price but the resentment I bottled up for him just exploded that day and we never spoken to each other since.
